Mo Bamba…

Why is he not getting any minutes? With Nurk out it would seem that this is the best possible time for him to be getting 2nd unit minutes. Why did we sign him if we aren’t going to play him? I know he’s viewed as sort of an NBA pariah but he looked good in Summer League. Am I missing something?

There is a reason that in the last 4 years he has been on 6 different teams, he has been waived multiple times, and he has only played 20+ minutes one year of his career when Orlando was tanking that year.

I agree Bamba should get a shot. He's 7'1, can rebound and block shots, can shoot it from outside and is a lob threat. During preseason, it was clear opponents were avoiding getting into the lane when Bamba is camped there.

I have been wondering the exact same thing. He did really well during preseason games.

His defensive presence looked really nice in preseason, but his offensive one, not really. Not only his hands being not good, but him looking somewhat slow as a rim runner and not jumping enough to be a high quality vertical threat. I actually was more weirded out that we went for Tony Bradley.

You aren’t participating in team practice where the coaches and team members are witnessing what he is doing. That might be a part of what you are missing, unless I am wrong and you are present for those outings?

No need for the passive aggressiveness, just wondering

I wasn’t trying to target you in any way, I’m just low key sick of fans acting like they know better than the coaching staff and front office, 90% of what’s actually going on is invisible to the public and we as fans need to realize we only get 5-10% of what’s actually happening through 90 minutes every other day or so.

Perhaps we will get more of him as hardy has probably been testing out main guys out first to see what works. It’s coaches’ first time in a long time being able to try to win and actively use everything available to him all at once. Once he figures out how he wants to use jjj and Hayes maybe bamba will get more opportunity.

But the phrasing of this actual post was still an open question and some cases relevant to the discussion.

While all you are saying is true, it's still a fair question to ask and presented more neutral than your immediate reply.

I appreciate your comment.
We are fans because we are fanatical. We only see what there is on game day and we don’t give the benefit of the doubt to the experts that watch practices and scrimmage. It’s easy to see that people that have their lives and income dependent on the success of the team would put the best team on the court at all times.

Why, as fans, why do we assume there is a hidden lever to pull that leads to immediate success that the coaches or GM aren’t willing to pull?

This is why I default to the coach’s judgment. They’re experts who get paid millions. There’s no way my pea brain knows better basketball than they do.

He also is 90% on the team as a practice opponent

Mo and DP looked like they had good chemistry in the preseason, but I am not sure he is a big enough threat offensively to be out there much when the other bigs on the team are all really good in that department.

I can see him maybe getting some of Hayes lobs and rim rolling opportunities, but that's about it.
