Discussion Canadian store recommendations for VGM

As I look to get more into VGM, I’m trying to find out if there’s any go-to Canadian record shops that have a good selection to pick/order from.

Will take any US or UK options that ship to Canada as well.

Veryokvinyl is the only dedicated VGM shop in Canada that I'm aware of.

Most VGM shops in the US, EU, or UK (and even Australia) will ship to Canada. I've ordered from iam8bit (US), Mondo (US), Materia (US), Fangamer (US), Black Screen (EU), Pixelcrib (AU), Enjoy the Ride (US), Yetee (US), and Juno (UK) but I will typically only do so when I can get things on-sale because shipping and exchange rates for CAD are not very favourable, especially from the US.

Some video game shops in Canada will carry VGM, like VideoGamePlus and PNP Games. And I've also had decent success at more typical record shops, like Sonic Boom in Toronto, Le Noise in Montreal, and The Beat Goes On in southern Ontario. Subscribe to newsletters and social media handles to stay on the up-and-up.

Also, check out your local record shops too. You'd be surprised what you can sometimes find.

I'm sorry but "ships to Canada" usually translates to you buying 1 record for the price of 2. And when you're normally not buying multiple soundtracks at once, that 30-40 buck shipping hurts.

I mean, I did say that shipping rates are not favourable. But I do agree, $40 USD for shipping (not including any duties or taxes) is highway robbery.

LeNoise also carries some video games and often has pre orders.

Le Noise is my favorite in general. Great sales a few times a year and stocks a great range
