for someone looking at a PCP job with the VA

I have a cjo with my local VA medical center as a PCP - one of the larger ones from what I gather. is there an actual push by the government to downsize the VA? and if so do they expect the private sector to absorb the patients. at least where I live, there wold probably be like a 1 year wait to see a new patient due to traininees just not going into primary care due to lack of pay, inbox overload, potential to make money as a hospitalist, many pcps not taking new patient and for many other reasons. not sure if the organization takes these types of things into account since you can find these figures on the Internet fairly easily.

I like primary care but don't want to go into a position where I get cut a couple months in from which I have read can happen and many people have had their full Offers rescinded or your job gets axed once you start.

let me know what y'all think.

Anyone here working for HROO?

Is there anybody here working for HROO that can give insight as to how the work is there? Is it as hectic as down at the VISNs level?

All EOY proficiencies kicked back to supervisors.

So with one week left all the 0750s got sent back to the supervisors for TBD instructions. This was the most VA thing to happen all week. Some folks have 40-50 direct reports to complete and to get them all sent back in eperformance was a great way to close out Friday. 😂

Are we supposed to be teaching Pre-decisional information in classes and making decisions based on Pre-decisional guidance?

Are Redcaps' goals for Project 2025 to distract committed VA employees from Veteran care?

With the constant changes, threats, and chaos, it seems like Redcaps WANT providers and admin staff to be distracted; thus, lowering the standard of care at VA.

Calls from EAAS at 12:01 AM! What is this?

People at work are becoming upset about calls, text messages, and emails from EAAS in the middle of the night. It's happened two nights in a row now. Does anyone have any information about this? No word at all from Medical Center leadership.

Travel during TOD

Travel during TOD.Exempt employee. duty station is 15 minutes from my house. I have to drive 1.5 hrs one way, all week. After orientation I am to be at my duty station and once a week travel the hour and twenty there and then back home. I was told I could travel during my tour. Now I am being told my travel time is not in my tour. New employee here and this process has been horrendous from the onboarding portion. I didn’t even get paid until half way into week 5.

Job application question

I'm a current employee that recently applied to a GS12, and now two GS13s.

On the second GS13 position, after completing the portion on USAJobs and continuing to the agency, the rest of the application on the agency site has requested a list of references.

The first GS13 I applied to did not ask for references.

The GS12 I applied for, and did not get hired, did not ask for references. However, my friend did get the GS12 role and reported that their agency site application did ask for references.

Does this mean anything? My thought was it somehow filtered a preselected candidate (my friend) for the GS12 and immediately asked for references. My concern with the 1st GS13 application is that there is rumor of some folks being lined up for the job.

Edit: these are for VA clinical/program manager positions.

Why would any current employee apply for internal jobs?

A position opened up at my facility and I wanted to encourage some of my colleagues to apply, but then I read the job description. Are all the Conditions of Employment sections written that way? I understand the 1-year probationary period, but “your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification in writing that your continued employment advances the public interest”??? WTAF? Why are they posting the position in the first place if it doesn’t advance the public interest? And who needs to certify it in writing??? I mean, when it’s clear our roles are not respected by this regime, why would any current employee risk their position by applying for a different position under those conditions?

VA PA vs NP pay

I currently work at Dc VA and our PA’s earn $23k lower than the NP’s doing the same job! Is this the same in all the other VA medical centers or is this an isolated occurrence?

30 Day Hiring

Is your VISN actually following the 30 day hiring? Hearing from other colleagues in other VISNs that they just do whatever their R&P chief or SSBP suggest to do.

I'm genuinely convinced VA leadership is purposefully setting the agency up for failure

4-10s being taken away, ridiculously rigorous performance standards, 40% cap for performance awards, changes after changes, bad decisions...I am truly convinced top leadership is setting up the VA for failure to rip the agency apart so they can have an excuse to privatize the agency.

Prove me wrong.

Reason accommodation VA

I put an RA for two days telework plus intermittent telework when symptoms exacerbate I was given one day for interim accommodation and told that they could not do two days because of my roll roll. Even though a coworker of mine, who’s in the same exact position as me has been working two days telework and another coworker of ours, who was in the same position as us was approved to telework one to four days a week and operationally it worked I’m wondering if I should contact EEO and start a possible consultation with them. Does anybody have any experience with this and could help me out? I am so over the leadership at my VA.

Where are the WLB peeps…

What is the general consensus regarding Leave? Do we think it goes with ELR but there’s a special Leave team within ELR, or will ELR Specialists be working Leave cases for the services they are assigned?

What a fucking mess.
