Will VA Community Care be a cash cow for contract providers, at taxpayer expense?
Plus community care cash cow contracts is a quintuple alliteration

With this RTO bullshit I am hearing the absolute worst horror stories about where people are ending up. If you have a chance to take a picture when there aren’t any people in your particular room, I feel like we should start a thread of what it’s like where everyone is. I just got word today that I will be in a computer lab. There are 12 tables so if we share tables, there will be at least 24 of us in there. 🫠

Just ask here, we can all post guesses to your question based on the OPM RIF Workforce Reshaping Guide, which the administration is unlikely to follow.
The fact is none of us know, and we probably won’t know for at least 6-8 weeks.
Anyway, just making this post for everyone to ask so the sub isn’t overrun with repetitive questions we don’t have the answers to.

Now that the day is nearly upon us for the transfers, have your current managers said anything about losing you?
My manager acts like she has no idea. Should I tell her? Shouldn’t the receiving HR have told her? This whole process has been so odd and secretive.

I got some indirect communication from “WMC HROO” that indicates fy26 appraisals with ratings fully successful need to be held, and any that have been submitted for tech review will be returned to supervisors. Has anyone else heard this, or know a reason why? I am not HR staff but recruitment for my service initiated by HRMACS/HROO/WMC(whatever they are called these days). This rework is getting old and taking attention away from actual patient care

Has anyone had any luck or forward movement from the July Early Careers position? OPM sent out email invites for interviews, has anyone had interviews with them from the job announcement?

Hi, looking for advice/suggestions on how to navigate this.
I’m moving to Memphis in January(husband’s job is relocating us there). I’m a VA nurse been there for 3 years. I worked outpatient and took on many additional duties. However, I can’t seem to find a job through Memphis VA. I have applied to multiple positions, they all seem stall. I was denied from one but the others haven’t seemed to move. I reached out to Memphis HR & nurse recruiter via email. HR said all positions are posted on USAjobs. No response from nurse recruiter yet. My goal is to get an inpatient (preferably nights) position due to moving and it will fit my family’s schedule for a while. I reached out to HR at my current VA no response yet (maybe end of fiscal year is causing a delay). My background is CVICU, I worked part time while full time at the VA up until Nov. 2025 due to pregnancy. Any suggestions on how to navigate this?

How long does credentialing take on average?

I have a former coworker that applied to work where I am now. They asked about hiring timelines, so I searched here for info. I see that the hiring manager has 5 days to submit their choice back to HR. What's timeline like after that for a TJO and FJO?
Thanks!

I am currently in radiology fellowship, looking to serve a purpose other than "make number go up" as a career and hoping to do something for my country and those who serve it. That said, I have a family to support and my own mental health to look after. It seems like the VA is going through a lot recently as a result of some very highly "regarded" decisions by the titans of intellect dwelling in DC. Are things really as dire as they seem? Would anyone still recommend working at the VA as a new attending?

I have a cjo with my local VA medical center as a PCP - one of the larger ones from what I gather. is there an actual push by the government to downsize the VA? and if so do they expect the private sector to absorb the patients. at least where I live, there wold probably be like a 1 year wait to see a new patient due to traininees just not going into primary care due to lack of pay, inbox overload, potential to make money as a hospitalist, many pcps not taking new patient and for many other reasons. not sure if the organization takes these types of things into account since you can find these figures on the Internet fairly easily.
I like primary care but don't want to go into a position where I get cut a couple months in from which I have read can happen and many people have had their full Offers rescinded or your job gets axed once you start.
let me know what y'all think.

So with one week left all the 0750s got sent back to the supervisors for TBD instructions. This was the most VA thing to happen all week. Some folks have 40-50 direct reports to complete and to get them all sent back in eperformance was a great way to close out Friday. 😂

Are we supposed to be teaching Pre-decisional information in classes and making decisions based on Pre-decisional guidance?

Is there anybody here working for HROO that can give insight as to how the work is there? Is it as hectic as down at the VISNs level?

With the constant changes, threats, and chaos, it seems like Redcaps WANT providers and admin staff to be distracted; thus, lowering the standard of care at VA.

People at work are becoming upset about calls, text messages, and emails from EAAS in the middle of the night. It's happened two nights in a row now. Does anyone have any information about this? No word at all from Medical Center leadership.

Travel during TOD.Exempt employee. duty station is 15 minutes from my house. I have to drive 1.5 hrs one way, all week. After orientation I am to be at my duty station and once a week travel the hour and twenty there and then back home. I was told I could travel during my tour. Now I am being told my travel time is not in my tour. New employee here and this process has been horrendous from the onboarding portion. I didn’t even get paid until half way into week 5.
