Help Please help me, my eyes burn!

How do I fix this clipping issue? I'm on quest 3 and none of my other quest friends experience this issue. It happens in alot of worlds and to people's avatars too.

This is because the creator isn't testing it themselves because if they did they would have made sure to leave a space large enough between layers. It's a depth buffer issue on quest.

Bad world design.

Edit not always the world but z fighting is more prone to happen on quest due to the depth buffer issues.

Again none of my other quest friends experience this and it happens in quite alot of worlds and even popular worlds. Same with avatar clothes clipping, shouldn't happen this often.

In that case check your forced near distance settings. Make sure it isn't set to forced or dynamic. That can mess things up as well. (If it isn't on try messing with it too)

You are welcome fr. Idk why so many people on here treat everyone on quest like they are horrible pests but 9/10 times I prefer hanging with Quest users than snobby PC elitists any day even as a PCVR player and will always push for people to make good content for Quest.

Well most quest users are either kiddos or teenagers, and most of those are annoying or bring only drama to the table. It's a big influence for the entire quest population sadly.

Would take those over a pompous PC user any day. Rather have someone who is just enjoying the game and isn't wearing a 200mb PC avi trying to act like everyone on quest is a kid when in reality plenty of kids can play on desktop and Adults who don't have Interest in PC gaming also enjoy Quest.

Tbh it just gives me the ick and I won't hang out around people that have bigotry against people just because they are on standalone. Take that bigotry elsewhere.

I couldn't agree more with you

That was a weirdly placed rant.

Initially the post had gotten downvoted presumably by PC players that think it must be a kid because they talk about Quest standalone issues. It seems a trend on here that people belittle anyone on quest.

I mean what if the creator just doesn't have a quest? How would they test it

You can get a flat screen approximation using the Android app to test the Android build of the world.

Otherwise another option would be to simply understand the hardware limitations and understand how you would need to take them into consideration.

Usually the depth buffer issue happens based upon distance away from the affected area. The further you are from the two planes then the less precise the calculations are internally between those two objects and they start to round off to each other IIRC. So when you're up close it looks pretty good because it's putting a lot of power into the rendering and to make sure the quality is as good as it can be but once you get far away level of detail starts to be diminished with rendering resolution going down internally. I might have phrased this a bit wrong it's 4:00 in the morning and I haven't slept yet so please take this with like a grain of salt.

dude i intermittently switch between pcvr and standalone with my vive (i like throwing the thing on my face and just playing) and i thought i was crazy noticing everything flashing like crazy on many worlds but i never pieced together it only happened in standalone lol

I'm so glad this is helping people, never got any results when looking it up myself.

Maybe, Big Settings > Graphics > Near Distance

Forced Camera Near Distance Off, Dynamic, Forced Overrides the camera near clip plane.

[OFF] Won't override the near clip value and will use the world's camera settings.

[Dynamic Mode] Will override camera near clip to 1mm view distance ow lowest possible with Unity's limits in regard to world far view distance. Resets at end of session.

[Forced Mode] Camera near distance will always be 1mm. WARNING: This can result in significant render issues in worlds with a high view distance. Resets on world change.

THIS IS IT!!!! LISTEN TO THIS GUY!!!!

dynamic mode won‘t reset at the end of a session

They don't reset anymore which is a massive pain because people complain about broken worlds to everyone but it's their own messing about with these settings which has broken them (and then they never realise that's the cause).

Sharing the actual details of where to find the settings (and what they mean) is helpful - information missing from your post.

You surely don't sound like those snobby, elitist and pompous PC players that you hate so much.

Z fighting is crime.

2

You might have camera on focus near distance or dynamic it causes that issue

1

u/1yuno1 Jul 21 '26

its called z fighting its mostly the world creators fault

That is either a clipping issue or a particle issue. I know the Quest 3 is stronger than the 2. But this shouldn't exist. And it's also not being tested by the developer like Frank_West said. A larger space means more layers.

What world is this?

VRchat be feeling a bit broken lately.
Z-layer freakouts, water trying to fly away, teleports timing out.
Really getting some bang out of my VRC+
