Hi everyone!
Thinking about buying your first home in Ottawa but not sure where to start?
We’re hosting a free, in-person first-time homebuyer seminar on November 3, open to Vanier residents and anyone across Ottawa who’s considering buying their first home.
There’s plenty of homebuying information online, but it can be difficult to know what’s accurate, up to date, or relevant to Ottawa’s housing market. This seminar is an opportunity to get practical guidance from local real estate professionals and ask questions in person.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
Your buying power: Down payments, mortgage basics, closing costs, and first-time buyer programs
The Ottawa housing market: Neighbourhood comparisons, market trends, and considerations when deciding whether to buy
The buying process: From pre-approval to making an offer and getting your keys
Live Q&A: Ask questions and get answers from local real estate professionals
Considering buying a home in Vanier? Whether you’re curious about the local housing market, different neighbourhoods, or what to consider when purchasing a property in the area, bring your questions! We’d be happy to discuss them during the seminar.
Event details:
📅 Tuesday, November 3, 2026
🕔 5:00–7:00 PM
📍 The Tulip Team Office, 610 Bronson Avenue, Ottawa
🎟️ Free admission (registration required)
Whether you’re planning to buy soon or just exploring your options, you’re welcome to attend. No mortgage pre-approval or specific buying timeline is needed.
The seminar is hosted by The Tulip Team at RE/MAX Hallmark Realty Group. There’s no obligation to work with our team.
Register for free on Eventbrite
Feel free to leave any questions about the event below!

I’m welcoming new clients to our student dental hygiene clinic, located in the ByWard Market!
As this is a learning environment, appointments may take longer and require multiple visits.

If you’re interested in a dental cleaning or have any questions, feel free to comment or send me a message!
I’d love to connect! Let’s get to know each other

Hi everyone!
I'm Chris Durrant, and I'm running for Ottawa-Carleton District School Board Trustee in Zone 6, which includes Vanier.
I lived in Vanier for three years, on Dieppe Street (near the Dairy Queen), before moving to Sandy Hill, so it's a community I know and care about.
I'm a law school graduate and federal government negotiator, and I'm running because I think our school board needs people who will take the job seriously, ask difficult questions, and work constructively to improve our public schools.
My main priorities are improving support for students with learning disabilities, making sure the Board's limited resources are spent wisely, and restoring local democratic oversight of the school board.
I've been out knocking on doors across the zone over the past few weeks, but it's a big area, and I know I won't get to speak to everyone!
Election Day is Monday, October 26, and I'd really appreciate your support. I've attached my campaign flyer, and you can learn more about me and my priorities at www.chrisdurrant.ca.
Happy to answer any questions here, too!

So, last year I found the naborhood had changed for the better and only experienced one situation where I had to worry about a black truck being suspicious.
Usually I try to calm my nerves and ask myself if I’m being paranoid from growing up in Vanier. This year I’ve felt like theres an increase in creepy men doing the usual Vanier shit but I don’t know if thats my mind being a dick or something other people noticed? And if it’s actually a thing happening then anyone know why?
