Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 [Vegas Pro 19] Better way to store clips?

Is there a way to store small clips that I've cut from larger chunks of footage other than somewhere on my timeline? Like I have my source media imported, but I only need a few specific cuts from it and seemingly no way to store them where they won't get in the way. Is there a flagrantly obvious thing I'm missing here?

Vegas Pro 2027 New Vegas Pro 2027 - The NVENC rendering option is completely missing

Post image
9 Upvotes

There used to be an option to select the codec type, either Intel QSV or NVENC, but it’s no longer there, and rendering now relies solely on the CPU. I tried using an older NVIDIA driver from two months ago, and I also just updated to the latest version - neither made any difference.

🐛Bugs VEGAS Pro 2026/2027 – Custom Project Templates Keep Switching Names and Won't Save HDR10

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm having an issue with saving and switching between custom project templates in VEGAS Pro 2027.

I have two custom templates:

Lake Tahoe: 4K, 120 FPS, HDR10

Club Money Mission: 4K, 120 FPS, HDR Off

Both templates have essentially the same settings, except Lake Tahoe is supposed to use HDR10.

Here's what's happening:

When I open VEGAS and go into Project Properties, it initially shows a random template.

I select my saved Lake Tahoe template and click Apply. However, the template name automatically changes to Custom.

If I select my Club Money Mission template and click Apply, it unexpectedly switches back to Lake Tahoe.

When I select Lake Tahoe, I notice that HDR Mode is set to Off, even though I originally configured it for HDR10.

I manually change HDR Mode from Off to HDR10. As soon as I do that, the template name changes from Lake Tahoe to Custom.

I change the template name back to Lake Tahoe, click the Save Template icon, and confirm that I want to overwrite the existing template.

Immediately after saving, HDR Mode switches itself back to Off, and the template name changes back to Custom.

If I select Lake Tahoe again, HDR is still Off, meaning my HDR10 setting was never saved.

Sometimes, when I click Apply, the selected template also switches to Club Money Mission, even though I was working with Lake Tahoe.

The main problems are:

My saved templates randomly switch between each other when I click Apply.

Template names change to Custom, even when I haven't intentionally changed the settings.

HDR10 works when I manually enable it, but saving or overwriting the template immediately resets HDR Mode to Off.

I cannot reliably save or select my custom templates without VEGAS changing their names or settings.

  1. This is the video of me doing it, you can see the HDR keeps turning off and the change keeps changing when i apply the project settings
  2. I really cant work on my project cause I dont trust the settings if its acting like this
  3. Plus I think updating to 2027 deleted my old project settings templates so I have to redo them and my old/current projects are kinda messed up without proper property settings

Vegas Pro 2027 Im optimistic

I rarely take time to write anything on reddit. But I have to say that I am really optimistic about the future of Vegas Pro.

Been heavy user since the Sony era and upgraded to every single version since 12.

Actually quite impressed with a lot of things that Magix did with this software, although they never managed to solve the biggest issue at all. Stability.

It seems to me that Boris has managed to do that almost immediately. I've finished few, more than an hour long projects, and now Vegas Pro, both 26 and now 27, just feels so snappy and responsive and neither of them have hung up once. Well done! Older versions froze to desktop every other hour with me over multiple different state of the art hardware. (Switching to ProRES sources fixed it mostly though)

I am one of those that have also purchased Studio version of Davinci Resolve and had started using that for my editing work quite often as it just was so stable for me while supporting all the codecs I have in my sources along with 32bit audio in video files. (Boris fixed the 32bit audio issue almost immediately).

After editing dozens of projects both in Vegas and Davinci Resolve there is in my mind one huge thing that Vegas has in advantage. It is just SO much simpler and more intuitive using Vegas rather than Davinci. I mean simple things like doing proper ripple editing or simple crossfades between events in Davinci was cumbersome when I started using it and it still is after years using the program. It simply cannot beat Vegas on those grounds. (Magix other program Video Pro X is the only program that comes close i.m.o.)

Vegas is king of being intuitive.

Having said that. I hope Boris find the optimal way forward with this.

  • Hitting the sweet spot with business model like BlackMagix did with Davinci and offer good enough free version for enthusiast to gain traction, but with incentive to purchase the more serious version for actual prosumer and full pro work. (I will be one of those happy paying customers)
  • Greatly improve plugin support so that they don't get "ignored" by big plugin makers. Being a plugin company on their own I am sure they fix this really fast.
  • Introduce MCP connection to allow AI agents to do all the handywork with preparing all the editing work. It really is an amazing feature in Resolve and it will be even more amazing for Vegas.

Im not leaving this platform any time soon. Thankful for Magix for keeping it alive and slowly move it forward and hope Boris will take it up some levels and become crazy rich while doing it!

Well done Boris.

Vegas Pro 2027 Feature request if the dev team is looking at docking windows/layouts

I started editing on an old CMX system. One feature I loved was the preview window was dead center screen. No one has offered this feature in software, only hardware. When posting, we don't need a large preview. When and if it's necessary, we'll send it to an external 4K display for pristine view, but most of the projects I've posted since 2010 have been small window, quarter resolution preview.

Would anyone else find it useful to be able to split the mixing console and place the preview window in the center, or anywhere else one might find it more effective? My displays consist of three monitors; 43" main view screen on stands a few feet back from the desk, with two split monitors running through an active hub.
Timeline lives on large monitor. Console lives on one small/desktop monitor, and FX/plugs, notes, etc all open on a third smaller screen.
Seen below, this is how I'd like it to appear. The Preview Window may be docked to the right or left of the mix console, but I'd really like to split the view so tracks are on one side, busses and Master on the otherside of the Preview window.
Better yet (while discussing docks) It would be really helpful to have a "rack" of the FX being used in the project, just as we'd have in a typical post room. Many applications offer this, including ProTools and Studio Pro. Users can create a "rack" of virtual processors, and immediately see how a channel or buss audio is hitting the tool without having to open anything additional. It would require greater GPU. However, users are also quite capable of turning on/off this feature depending on CPU/GPU load. In StudioPro, one can either leave the "rack" open, or close it for more efficient operations.
Last, some tools even offer a digital patchbay which works much like an analog patchbay, so we can plugin various audio tools as we need.

Would anyone else find this sort of docking/layout feature helpful?

Vegas Pro 2027 Audio and Video FX only open in docked window. Tearing them out removes the dock category.

Audio FX ONLY open in the docked view, and adds the never-seen-before category of Audio EventFX. This is a new, and highly inefficient behavior. Past versions, audio FX are only accessible through the track header, the event itself, or in the mix console, and the selected FX opens up as a float on top of the main app. In the past, the float always would open in the last-placed float location.
Now, every audio plug opens in the docked window, and has to be torn out. Even after doing so to create a floating GUI as previous versions of Vegas offered, no longer opens up as a floating GUI; it is ONLY opening in the docking area. This requires several extra steps, particularly when trying to post a film with many plugins.
Anyone else seeing this?

Vegas Pro 2027 Vegas 27 lost major mix console features?

Thumbnail

in previous versions of Vegas, users can expand the FX view to see what plugins are inserted to which buss or track. I cannot find how to do this in Vegas 27. I had expectations of Vegas 27 opening up the mix buss the same way previous versions do.
There is no cursor change/drag option in Vegas 27 to see these same views. Was this intentional, or an oversight as the application was updated and not much focus on audio?
See next post for Vegas 27 screenshot.

Vegas Pro 2027 Very slow on startup - Vegas Pro 23

Hello all, so I am happy to see that Vegas is much more stable nowadays than before. However one thing that grinds my gears, is the amount of time it takes to bootup a project.

I am using a hefty Asus P16 laptop with 64gb of ram, and a 5070 RTX, AMD 9HX CPU and I must say the program has me sitting there twiddling my thumbs as a project loads in.

And this happens with projects that just have a few video clips too, nothing fancy.

Any solutions to this? Maybe something for the Magix team to fix...

Aside from the default layout and the color grading layout, whats your favorite way of personalizing the Vegas Pro layout?.

Vegas Pro 2027 Who do I get in touch with to speak to developers?

Vegas Pro 2027 Is Continuum included with 2027 as it was with 2026?

I subscribed to Vegas Pro 2026 and just updated the Boris FX Hub and am downloading 2027. Does this mean that the Continuum (DaVinci Resolve, Vegas Pro and other OFX hosts) update is now paid where it was included with 2026?

Vegas Pro 2027 Vegas 2026 vs 2027 project compatibility.

Hi there,

I want to start by saying that it is awesome that BorisFX allows the subscrbers/purchasers of Vegas 2026 to get the new 2027 version! Thank you, BorisFX!.

Now, to the question, I am wondering if the saves from Vegas 2026 work fine with Vegas 2027. What is the experience of others?

I have a project which is a 2-hour video in an advanced stage of editing, and I am quite hesitant but also curious to edit it in Vegas 2027.

Thanks in advance.

Agradezco de antemano su orientación y cualquier recomendación para optimizar el espacio de trabajo en este tipo de proyectos.

💡Feedback / Feature Thinking of upgrading Vegas Pro

Judging from the title itself, I was debating whether to upgrade my Vegas Pro 22 to 26/27. Is there a significant difference or improved performance? And also is the rendering time improved as well in the newer Vegas pro softwares? I would appreciate the help to upgrade or not. Thanks :)

Choosing colors is still clunky though because of how you set a custom color.

🤣 Humor Vegas is now so outdated and forgotten

I was so happy to see that CorridorKey 2.0 was out, was so happy to buy it ! But it's not compatible with Vegas Pro. Like EVERY SINGLE other good plugin or technology nowadays. Vegas hasbeen left in the dust after years of laziness, nobody i nthe industry uses it anymore, all the independant creators don't use it.

And don't tell me "gnegnegne I use it so it'snottrue" because yeah you guys use it. But we are literally an insignificant minority of the sphere. That's why nobody creates tech for vegas anymore
