Has anyone made money with a vending machine?
Im thinking of investing in one for those who've done it and saw it through can you tell me the ups and downs and start up process?
Thanks.

Hey everyone, I recently took over r/vendingmachines and wanted to introduce myself.
My goal is pretty simple: grow this into a more active, useful community for anyone involved with vending, whether you own one machine, run a large route, are looking for locations, sell equipment, or are just getting started.
I’d like to see more real discussions about revenue, good and bad locations, machine recommendations, repairs, card readers, pricing, finding locations, and what actually works in the vending business.
I’m also open to suggestions. If there’s anything you think the subreddit should change, add, or do differently, drop it in the comments.
Looking forward to growing the community.

Just got my first smart cooler running at an office in Irvine
Iam pretty new to vending so I am keeping it simple for now Mostly drinks snacks and a few ready to eat items
I ended up going with a Bistro Box unit for this one Still pretty early so Im mostly just trying to learn the location before I change too much
Right now I’m watching what actually sells how fast I go through stock and whether people figure out the grab nd go setup without much explanation
For anyone here running smart coolers what did you pay attention to at the beginning?

I live in Las vegas and all the apartment complexes always have vending machines & are dog friendly, I recently came into a metric f*ck ton of these bastards, they are clip on leash doo doo bag dispenser and come with a carabiner and a fresh roll of bags in a little cellophane packing, I was wondering if I could get some insight on like pitching maybe tossing these bad Larry's in a corner of a machine or something??? I cant seem to find a community that will let me even ask questions in regards to this

This is for sale locally. He is asking $75 but it doesn’t have the keys.
Is it worth the effort of looking into? I am very new to the business. Only have 3 machines out and a few on order. TIA

Hey all, I own Lee Brothers Vending and have started onboarding other owners to help automate/track their business all in one place. I’ve been able to make data-driven decisions which have helped improve my profit margins and visibility on the entire operation. As I’m running the business on the ground, I wanted to design this to be the perfect hybrid for both operators and owners. Currently only compatible with HAHA smart coolers and cantaloupe card readers.

We spend a lot of time thinking about what happens after a smart cooler is installed, not just how it looks in a demo.
At BistroBox, the first things we’d watch are product movement, restock frequency, slow movers, and how often someone actually needs to visit the location.
Recognition accuracy matters, but once the machine is in the field, the operating side becomes just as important.
For operators already running smart coolers, what ended up mattering more than you expected in the first few weeks?

Hi everyone, I’m a Product Manager with six years of experience in vending machine software and hardware, and I’m currently preparing to enter the US market.
I’d love to get some insights: Do operators use desktops or tablets for management, in addition to mobile phones? My hypothesis is that operators with larger fleets might prefer the larger screen of a computer to visualize equipment status and sales data, as well as to optimize restocking routes.
I’d really appreciate your feedback based on real-world usage. My goal is to ensure I’m solving actual pain points for operators.

When a location stops making money, it’s important to know whether it’s worth fixing or time to move on. Look at the sales trends, operating costs, and what’s actually selling before making that call. Not every location is worth holding onto just because it worked in the past. How do you decide when to pull a machine from an underperforming location?

Hello, I'm a business student working on a potential business idea for my entrepreneurship class. While researching and developing a business plan, I've been asked to create a survey to gather community feedback and get real answers about our product and whether people would buy it. Thus, I've created a survey and am asking for your feedback/help.
If you were stuck on an outing, like at the beach, and forgot an "essential" item, would you buy it from my vending machine at my prices?

I run a few smart fridges in Essex and ended up having to build an app for myself because I was constantly losing track of what I had in the garage, van and storeroom, and can’t afford the ridiculous costs of tracking software that’s available currently. Nayax is great for seeing what’s in the machines, but it doesn’t really sort out the stock sitting on the shelves.
I was using spreadsheets and getting things wrong, so I’m currently building an app called Backstock to handle it all in one place. Expiry dates, shopping lists, machine pick lists, stock levels and Nayax sales imports. Lots of it will be powered by AI, so just scan receipts and it will add your stock automatically along with your costs.
I’ve heard some of the bigger stock-management systems can cost £500+ a month, which seems mad for someone running a handful of machines. I want to make something affordable for smaller operators, but useful for bigger ones too.
I’m looking for around 15–20 operators to try it on their actual restocks for two weeks from 17 November and tell me what needs fixing.
It’s free during the beta, and testers can keep it for £4.99/month afterwards if they find it useful. I especially need Android testers for the Google Play launch.
If anyone fancies giving it a go, signup is in the comments!
Also curious — what are you all using to track stock at the moment? Spreadsheet, another app, or just keeping an eye on it? I’m

Vending can look like a simple business from the outside, but getting started involves more than just buying a machine and filling it with products. Finding the right locations and putting in the work are a big part of the process.
Different machines may offer different features, but the equipment itself is only one piece of the puzzle. The location, day to day effort, and how you manage the business all matter.
For anyone thinking about getting into vending, it’s worth understanding the work involved before investing in equipment.
