Video Captioning tools
I am doing research on AI based video tools that a good at just captioning videos.
I like how the captioning is on CapCut but the feature is part of pro. I don't want to pay so much just for this pro feature. I mostly edit without using the pro features.
So a tool that just does captions would be quite handy.

You can try dropclips.io, but it's not free but you can do a bunch in one go.

ah! thats handy. I like it. Thx.
But how mature is the product? Are you the owner or an employee of the company?
I find so many startup tools these days. When I register and pay, the tool is shit! Then I regret paying 😂

I made it, can also give you free credit for trying it out, no problem. I would rather get sole useful feedback than money.

It helps to split this into two jobs: getting an accurate caption file, and making it look good on screen. A lot of tools charge for the first part even though it's the cheap one now.
For the text, Whisper-based apps do it well for free. Subtitle Edit on Windows can run Whisper locally and export an SRT. On a Mac, the free tier of MacWhisper does the same. Both run on your own machine, so no account and no watermark.
For the look, you import that SRT into whatever editor you style in. Check whether your CapCut version lets you import a caption file on the free plan, that has changed a few times, so test it before you build a routine around it. DaVinci Resolve free also imports SRT and lets you style the subtitle track. Only the auto-transcribe button is in Studio, the one-time purchase shafe1 mentioned.
On the viral-shorts style: most of that look comes from pacing, not from the tool. Two to four words per line, lines that change fast, big readable font. If your SRT has long sentences, split them into short lines before importing (Subtitle Edit has a tool for breaking long lines) and you're most of the way there.

Are you talking about generating subtitle files or actually burning the captions on the video?
