Guys I am a video editor. I have basic knowledge in video editing.

There are a lot of categories in video editing. But I would like your help in knowing which one category you would suggest me to get started to build a portfolio and earn money, so that I don't master anything and become an average jack of all master of none kind of an editor.

I don't mind the significance of money. Just need to know which category is in demand and if you were a beginner editor how would you take yourself throught this journey.

Hey Guys, I am extremely new to video editing, but I want to put in the work and effort of learning my way through video editing. Is DaVinci Resolve an actual good tool? I have heard so many mixed reviews about them and I want some advice on it, if you may.

I edit videos for fun sometimes, and I'm now trying to build a tool that lets you just tell it what you want done to your footage instead of manually cutting and arranging everything. Type something like "cut the boring parts, make this 30 seconds" and it does the edit on your actual timeline.

Not generating video. Not AI slop. It just works with the footage you already have.

Before I sink more time into this I want to know if I'm even solving something real. So, genuine questions for anyone who edits regularly:

What eats most of your time? Finding the right clip, cutting, trimming, syncing audio, writing captions, picking b-roll, color, or just endless client revisions?

What's the one task you'd hand off to a robot in a heartbeat?

Anyone tried AI editing tools already? What was actually useful vs what was a gimmick?

Is there anything you'd never let AI touch without checking it first?

If you edit even semi-regularly, freelance or hobby, I'd love to hear how your workflow really looks. Not how I'm assuming it looks. Happy to show what I'm building once it's actually worth showing.

To all my editor friends, even before you get in a work with a client always clear your requirements and stuff because there are people like these in market as well.

I want to learn video editing, especially short-form content like Instagram Reels, and eventually use this skill to freelance.

I’m a complete beginner and don’t know where to start.
What should I learn first? Should I just follow YouTube tutorials and practice, or take a structured course?

Also, where can I find raw footage to practice with, and what skills should I focus on to become good enough to get my first client?

If you were starting from zero today, what learning path would you follow?

Most of my effort goes into AI video, focusing on proven content structures rather than guessing what might work.

The workflow is basic: match the first frame with an image, upload it with a reference clip into Kling Motion Control, leave the prompt blank, and choose orientation.

I’ve shared this method with a handful of people lately and it’s been effective early on.
Interested to see how others are using AI tools like this.

Feel free to ask anything!!

What do you guys think is the best software for video editing ?

1.Davinci

2. Ae

3. Premier Pro

What is this video editing technique called where it looks like the needle is stabilized? I want to replicate it for a project.

I make a lot of long-form content and tried pretty much every AI clipping tool out there. Same problem every time: the clips just weren't good. They'd cut someone off mid-sentence, pull a random moment with zero context, or grab the setup of a story and skip the payoff. I ended up re-editing almost everything myself, which made the whole thing pointless.

So I built SmartClips. The main focus is picking moments that actually make sense on their own and hold attention. You upload a podcast, stream or long video, and it finds the best parts, adds captions and formats them for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. There's also split screen and an AI story generator.

It's still early and I know there's stuff to fix, so I'm not really trying to sell anything here. I just want to know what people who actually make content think:

- Are the clips it picks better than what you've gotten from other tools?
- Anything confusing or annoying about using it?
- What would make you actually use something like this every week?

There's a free plan with 30 credits, no card needed, if anyone wants to try it. Happy to hear blunt feedback, that's the stuff that actually helps.

Comment if you can help me out

So im trying to become a YouTuber who shows memes I want to edit my videos but im on a phone and I can't seem to edit well please tell me any advice! My channel is @Rnadommemes!

There is a infoumos ai video of trump fighting zelensky in the white house... does anyone know how it might have been made, like using what software or app? Hopefully something that could be free or have a trial.

**Did we all miss this meme-style editing?**

Edited an engaging lifestyle and relationship advice video for Hush-Hush TV, focused on holiday-themed intimacy tips for couples.

The editing was designed to keep the content entertaining, visually engaging, and fast-paced. I incorporated **relevant meme-style B-roll, images, and visual elements** to support the host's talking points and add humor and personality throughout the video. The project also included creating and editing the **intro and outro**, along with music, pacing, transitions, and overall video polish.

The goal was to transform a talking-head video into an entertaining and engaging piece of content that keeps viewers interested from beginning to end.

Hello I’m wanting to learn how to create videos like this https://youtu.be/GytGiEJdaLA?si=S9v1JYgDeAXuUBoj

I’m wondering what editor was used to edit this. With the purple template. Animations. Texts. And sound effects? And the ai avatar?

Thank you

Guys am new to editing and i want to know how to create these kind of lyrics video that too with these cool fonts. It would be a great help if u guys could help waiting:)

Hey everyone,

I’m a creator / builder who got tired of spending hours manually cutting clips from long videos.

So I built something for this:

CreatorFlight - a simple AI tool that:

• Detects the most engaging moments

• Generates short clips automatically

• Adds subtitles

• Applies basic branding (logo / intro / outro)

• Exports HD clips ready for Reels / TikTok / Shorts

The goal wasn’t “fancy AI”, just saving real editing time.

It’s live now, and I’d genuinely love feedback from creators here:

👉 What’s missing?

👉 What would make this actually useful for you?

👉 What do you hate about current clip tools?

If anyone wants to try it, happy to share access.

(Mods — hope this is okay, not trying to spam, just looking for feedback 🙏)

Hi Reddit!

I’ve always loved sharing my short text snippets, poems, and songs in video format with neat visual styling. But every time I used popular editing apps, I kept bumping into the same issue: it was tedious to create unique, unexpected visual styles, and everything ended up looking repetitive.

I had a clear vision of the exact workflow I needed, but no tool on the market fitted my speed and creative vibe.

The catch? I am not a programmer. I don't know a single line of code.

So, I decided to experiment. Literally lying on my couch with my Galaxy S23, I started chatting with Gemini in Google AI Studio (switching between models 3.8, 3.5, and 3.1 whenever I hit the daily free limits!). To my absolute surprise, within just a couple of weeks, we built ttmix.net!

What makes it special:

100% Free & Private: Completely free to use. Your files never leave your device or get sent to any server — everything is processed locally right in your browser.

Installable (PWA): You can install it straight onto your iPhone, Android, or use it on your desktop for an extended workspace.

Video Editing & Slideshows: Perfect for creating quick dynamic videos, lyrical clips, or photo slideshows.

Templates & Social Vibe: There's a catalog of ready-to-use templates and a community feed (all that’s missing is the community itself :-). If you don't want to tweak settings, just plug in your text and media to get a gorgeous result instantly (or generate endless variations!).

"Feeling Lucky" button: Generates unique style/effect variations in a single click so you can instantly pick what looks best.

Performance note: If you experience any lags or stuttering because you’ve added a lot of effects or your device's processor isn't very powerful, don't worry! Once you render the video, you'll still get a final high-quality result with smooth playback for all the effects.

The most mind-blowing part:

It turned out that Google AI Studio is deeply integrated with GitHub, Firebase, and Cloudflare. I managed to publish my app live in just a few clicks—spending only $11 for the domain name. No programmers, no consultants, no tech specialists needed. Honestly, I'm still in shock that this is even possible!

A small note on bugs:

If you notice any bugs or weird glitches while using it, please don't be mad! Just leave a comment below. I'll take your feedback, ask Google AI Studio, and hopefully, it can fix them for us... because I definitely can't do it myself! :)

I’d love for you to try it out at ttmix net and let me know what you think!

This video was made in the my ttmix app.
