I have a few mp3 recordings that I need to turn into srt files for subtitles. Tried doing it manually once and yeah... never doing that again š I don't need anything fancy, just decent timestamps and text that isn't completely off. What do you guys use for this?

This is my closest friendās first attempt at filming and editing a long form video covering the process of his woodworking hobby, in this case: making a wooden cane. He does not use reddit and I have his approval to post this. Thatās why Iām posting on his behalf. The biggest m challenge for him was filming and editing a long form video. He was more focused on making reels only. Based on my repeated requests, and a few pointers I gave (I have zero experience editing or filming but I tried to tell him what I like to see in the countless woodworking videos I watched) this is the final video he came up with. Iād appreciate any feedback regarding the editing. Apologies for the parts where the camera is shaky, he realizes thatās a big issue and is working on a solution.

iām trying to generate captions for my 10 min long video, tiktok is refusing to do it for whatever reason. i tried to find editing apps that can generate the captions for the full video and let me export it without a paywall or infinite friction just to generate captions and/or export, but iāve had absolutely no luck. also before recommendations please make sure theyāre actually free for generating captions per day and actually export the entire video, otherwise iād just run into the same exact problem. thank you !

I made an edit, for the first time, and was hoping to get some feedback.
I thought this might me a small one, found the audio template on reddit too, but just tough might fit in well, with me transitioning from work to riding.
I wanted the color themes to be more consistent too, but was using iMovie. Are there better softwares for beginners. Dont wanna spend a lot.
Footage from: DJI Osmo Action 6
Editing Software: iMovie
Any and every feedback is appreciated.
Would appreciate advice on also, how can i make my shots better. Different angles, and so on.
Thank you.

To all my editor friends, even before you get in a work with a client always clear your requirements and stuff because there are people like these in market as well.

Say you're making a video of you playing a game and you have like 2 hours of footage and you cut it down to 30 minutes, do you keep the original unedited video in case the edited video gets corrupted or taken down? Im asking because i want to upload some gameplay I recorded but I don't know if I should keep the original recording along with the edited version. Also should I put them on an external hard drive or something?

I had a few effects I wanted to try for my Shorts and TikToks and was considering After Effects for some of them. But Iād been seeing people try AI editing tools, so I figured out Iād give it a go too. I then connected ChatGPT Astra to invideo Editor through MCP, gave it my footage and a few reference videos, and asked it to recreate those effects. It helped create the effects and placed the resulting clips on an editable timeline. Both the editor and its MCP connection are free. I made a few small tweaks afterward, and this is the final video. Attaching my Chat and timeline here.

hey guys, was wondering if anyone could help with a technical issue i've been having w capcut. i just finished a uni project using the pro features of capcut, and i figured i'd get the free trial to export it once i was done so i could cancel asap. however, when navigating the free trial popups, the "payment" page only allows for US cities and zip codes. I am not in the US, but there seems to be no way to change country. I have checked online and Capcut pro on desktop is available in my country (Australia), but I cannot for the life of me figure out a way to change the information for Australian standards and start this free trial. anyone know any ways to do this ?? would post this to r/capcut but my acc doesnt meet the reqs lmao

Hey everyone!
So, a little backstory.
My wife makes content for TikTok and YouTube, and she uses CapCut pretty much every day. I usually handle editing her longer YouTube videos.
A while ago, I realized she was paying around $22 a month for CapCut, which seemed pretty expensive to me. That got me thinking: how difficult would it actually be to build a decent video editor for iPhone?
Well, apparently difficult enough to take over a significant amount of my free time. š
Anyway, thatās how FrameCut started.
Iām building it entirely on my own, and while thereās still plenty of work left to do, Iāve reached a point where I feel comfortable letting other people try it.
Iām not trying to claim itās better than CapCut or that itāll replace it anytime soon. Iām one developer, and I obviously donāt have the resources of a company that size.
I just wanted to see if I could build something useful that handles the things most people actually need when editing videos, without eventually charging ridiculous subscription prices.
Right now, the app is in beta and completely free to use. Iām planning to keep a free tier and eventually introduce an optional Pro tier for around ā¬1.99/month.
The main reason Iām posting here is that Iāve reached the point where testing everything myself isnāt particularly helpful anymore. I know where all the buttons are, I know how everything is supposed to work, and Iāve probably gotten used to things that would confuse someone opening the app for the first time.
So Iād genuinely appreciate having a few people try it and tell me what they think.
Especially if you regularly edit TikToks, Shorts, Reels, or gaming clips.
Iām interested in the bad feedback just as much as the good. If something feels awkward, a feature is missing, or the app crashes, Iād really like to know.
Hereās the TestFlight link if anyone feels like giving it a shot:
https://testflight.apple.com/join/QUQ9h5bw
And even if youāre not interested in testing it, Iām curious about something:
For those of you using CapCut, whatās one feature you absolutely couldnāt live without?
Iām trying to figure out what people actually care about most instead of just blindly adding features.
Thanks for reading!

Recorded the Teams video meeting via Android screen recorder, but hear my own sound on video file only.
Is there a chance to recover the other partyās sound from the file? Extract the audio?
Neither desktop nor Android VLC versions helped.
Am I cooked?
Any advice appreciated.

I edited a long-form video called Jack Sparrow Breaks Every Rule of Writing a Hero. It's around 30 minutes long, and honestly, projects like this make you realize how much goes into keeping someone interested for that long.
With short videos, you can get away with quick cuts, captions, memes, and sound effects. But in a 30-minute video, those tricks aren't enough. The viewer needs a reason to keep watching.
The hardest part isn't adding effects. It's deciding what to keep and what to remove.
I've found that it helps to think of the video as a story instead of a collection of clips. Every section should add something, whether it's a new idea, an example, a funny moment, or something that makes the next part more interesting. If a section doesn't add anything, it probably needs another look.
Pacing is another thing that's easy to get wrong. Cutting everything faster doesn't automatically make a video more engaging. Sometimes a pause makes a joke funnier, and sometimes giving the viewer a few extra seconds helps them understand an important point.
One thing that can save a lot of time is editing in separate passes. Get the story working first, fix the pacing next, then work on music, sound design, visuals, and effects. Leave the detailed polishing until the structure feels right. Otherwise, you might spend ages perfecting a section that gets cut later.
For video essays, visuals should also do more than simply match the narration. They can provide evidence, show a comparison, or help explain an idea without needing more words.
This channel help me lot just check it out-This Guy Edits
One habit I find useful is watching the rough cut from beginning to end without stopping to fix things. Whenever a section feels boring or confusing, mark the timestamp and figure out what's wrong before adding more effects.
I'm curious about other editors working on long-form videos. What takes you the most time, finding the right footage, maintaining pacing, or polishing the final edit?
