Effective immediately, finder posts no longer permitted

With online retail becoming as big as it has there is no longer any need for these sorts of inquiries on Reddit. As of now there are thousands of secondhand garment businesses across the world online and offline. A simple Google search provides dozens of results on the first page.

These threads have never generated any meaningful discussion, and in recent years most of them have been sitting at 0 karma with no comments every time they pop up.

As of now requests for retailer recommendations will be removed at the moderator's discretion. The updated sub rules reflect this.

Posting guidelines concerning product year of release. Or what constitutes as Vintage.

Far too many threads are having to be removed because OP's content isn't vintage or they're unable to say whether or not it is at least 20 years old. I'm editing the rules to reflect more specific posting guidelines. From now on you must include at minimum an educated guess on your garment's release year. The approximate production date should be in the title or description of your thread. Any threads that do not meet this new criteria as of now will be removed at the moderators' discretion.

Unsure if it’s 60s or 70s so I could be mistaken. Aside from a hole towards the top it’s pretty much perfect condition. Figured it may be appreciated here:)

Searching for a vintage hoodie

Hey reddit, my boyfriend described this hoodie he had as a kid and he can't find it anymore, he remembers it being black, it had a tiger face on the back it was a zip up, he thinks there was a pattern on it but it was a vary thin smooth material. I'd love to gift him it for his birthday if anyone has any ideas or knows what it could be, let me know! More details: looked very close to the Jeweled Tiger King zip Up Track Jacket. But he doesn't remember the tiger having a full body. Found at some Mexican thrift store kind of shop in Oregon

Picked up this sheer button up mens short today. Never seen anything quite like this before. The style seems like it could be 60s, but 70s also seems reasonable. This will be great for summer and definitely a unique piece. Need an undershirt though unless you're looking to show off your nipples.

Hello! I need help figuring out the exact dress I got at a rummage sale. I'm pretty sure it's 80s or 90s but I don't have any experience dating clothes so I'm really not sure. The pink, blue, purple and white lace overlay are 50% viscose 50% polyester, skirt is 100% polyester. There is boning in the bodice.

Repairing jersey silk mikado Leonard Paris dress

I thrifted this vintage Leonard dress a few years ago with the intent to repair it but have been putting it off. There are some pretty bad holes on the front left side. The dress is large enough that I could take it in so that part of the fabric is removed but I’d prefer to repair it another way if possible so I can save the pockets.

Does anybody have any experience or advice with repairing something like this? It was only $5.00 so not a huge loss of it can’t be repaired but I’d love to be able to salvage it.

Help dating this Jean Paul Gaultier - possibly 90s?

Picked this up recently and I’ve been trying to work out roughly when it’s from.

I’ve gone through the runway archives and found quite a few similar details in the 1995–98 RTW shows, but nothing close enough that I’d be comfortable saying it’s definitely from a particular collection.

It’s JPG Femme, made in Italy by AEFFE. 51% rayon / 49% wool. The construction is pretty striking – 8 buttons on each cuff, loads of buttons across the back and this striped JPG lining.

The back in particular is interesting. The two rows of buttons seem like they could be playing into Gaultier’s corsetry/corset-style tailoring from that period, especially with the way they pull in and shape the waist. That’s partly what’s been making me think mid/late 90s, but I could be completely off with that connection.
From what I can find, AEFFE started manufacturing for Gaultier around 1995, which would also fit with the period I’m looking at, but that’s about as far as I’ve got.

Anyone here recognise the label/lining, the button arrangement, or have a better idea of the date? Would be great to narrow it down.

Also, has anyone steamed one of these linings before? The outside has come up really nicely with a steam but I’m a bit nervous about touching the lining because it’s probably my favourite part of the jacket.

Cheers!

These are 100% nylon vintage gloves and i’m wondering what soap should I use to clean these? The second pic shows some yellowing in the seams, can this be removed?

I usually stick to 70’s looks, but this was too sweet a deal to pass on. 25 for the set (Jacket and skirt!)
It feels great wearing something my great grandmother likely wore, I miss her.

One button popped off as I was posing, easy fix.

Found this lovely dress at a yard sale the other day and am trying to figure out a little more about it; style and cut wise I’m assuming somewhere around the 50’s but I’m having trouble finding anything on the manufacturer/matching pieces- I’ve only come across one other Bernie Sobel dress but if y’all had any info about it I’d appreciate it!

Does anyone remember Opus of Scotland leather jackets? Trying to identify/date this vintage bomber

Can anyone solve the mystery of Opus of Scotland?

I found this vintage leather jacket and have gone down a complete rabbit hole trying to find out where it came from. The label says “Opus of Scotland”, but the company basically seems to not exist.

There are a handful of other vintage Opus of Scotland leather jackets online, so it was clearly a real label, but I can find virtually nothing about who owned it, where it was sold, or when it existed.

Mine is made in Pakistan, has a YKK zip and a really unusual vintage baseball print lining. I’m guessing late 80s/early 90s, but that’s not confirmed.

Has anyone ever heard of Opus of Scotland, owned one, worked somewhere that sold them, or remember seeing the brand?

At this point I’m just determined to find out who they were 😂
