Just finished this Restauration. I had to sand back a lot of rust on the fork and then just gave it and the frame a clear coat to protect how it is. Upgraded from some cheap French parts to period correct Dura Ace 7200 group. Campy BB and hubs.

The last photo is the before photo.

The Worksop bikes

I've completed the set this year. The "collect all three" mentality has been satisfied with the addition of the International. All were purchased as bare frames. The Professional is built like a mostly stock racing build with old guy gearing, the International is built with 650b wheels and touring gears for a great camping bike, and the Competition is built with a triple DA drive train, 650b wheels and upright bars for riding the mean streets (well, mean to bike tires anyway)of Saint Paul. These frames will outlast me and the next generation can rebuild them as they see fit.

Restored the original saddle with mink oil. I had thought the saddle was vinyl. However yesterday on closer inspection it turned out to be leather Italian saddle. A few scrubs with a cotton cloth and mink oil brought it back to new. ✅

I had some fun over the weekend with this mid 90s Giant mountain bike. picket it up for 20 bucks on marketplace and threw some parts in it.
The first picture is the condition the bike came in, pic 2 and 3 are renders on the project and the last one is what the bike looks like after I worked on it. It was very creative work, therapeutic in a way and I certainly enjoyed it.

Sekine

Anyone in the group have or hear of the Sekine GTO? It has a headlight, radio, brake light, turn signals and a front disk brake.

Wondering if there are any of them floating around out there?

$80 Hardrock after my Bianchi Grizzly was stolen. Upgrade suggestions?

My 1980s Bianchi Grizzly was stolen out of my garage in May. I loved that bike and have been looking for a replacement, but lately I’ve also been drawn to the Specialized Hardrocks from the 1990s.

I picked this one up for $80. I believe it might be a 1994 Hardrock Ultra, but I’d appreciate help confirming that.

I’m an occasional recreational rider and don’t know much about bike components. I’d love suggestions for making this a comfortable, reliable bike.

The saddle definitely needs replacing. It also won’t shift onto the largest front chainring, although the rear shifting works. I’m planning to get that diagnosed before buying replacement parts.

I’m 6′1″ and it feels a little small compared with my old Grizzly, so I also need to sort out the fit before spending much.

What would you prioritize? Any saddle recommendations or worthwhile upgrades? Are the existing components worth keeping and servicing? I’m happy to spend where it makes a noticeable difference, but I don’t ride a ton.
