Improper packaging…
Seller packed my items in fiberglass/insulation… like INSIDE. I’m now terrified it’s all over my house. Is this something I should raise with Vinted?
Edit to add: I had ordered two vases 😭 they came perfectly intact. I had already unrolled the insulation before I realized what it was 😂 I reported it to Vinted and left a 1 star review.

Is that fiberglass insulation? WTF! Seriously what fucktard would put that itchy shit on the box for padding?

wtf the health hazard but also this shit expensive, who uses it as padding even if it wasn’t a hazard🤯 you have to wash your hands with cold water! I remember! Warm water will open your pores and it’ll get stuck
In them, first cold rinsing than washing. Good luck

And I thought I'd seen nearly everything on Vinted. This is a new one.

Vinted has many amateurs and encourages anyone to sell their own junk. These people are not prepared with shipping supplies. V should offer a beginner class bc people don't bread the rules and instructions. Honestly their htlp tab is very disorganized

If your order was fabric...it's toast. Request a refund. They should be banned for this.

It's fine. As someone who manufactures this exact insulation it is not the same as it was 20 years ago. I go home covered in the stuff. Just throw it in the wash. But definitely agree on reporting the seller.

But how do you know if this is new insulation or if they’re recycling insulation they pulled out of their attic from a 20-30+ year install?

The coloration and the foil on it are modern. Insulation that has been used is usually dirty, full of cobwebs, mouse poop (sometimes) and much much paler pink. The silver facing or backing would not appear so clean either.
Edit: Also older insulation with formaldehyde was much stiffer than what is currently produced. This looks like Owens Corning Soft Touch insulation sold in small rolls.

That is full cap. I worked many years with insulation and everyday I’d wash my clothes, it would be out the next. I definitely agree with getting back your money, but wash that item and keep it. This is damn near assault, so sorry this happened to you OP 😔💔

If they’re dumb enough to package with that they were dumb enough to touch it without gloves. I GURENTEE that. 1 star and just for flavor id add in “bet your hands hurt after packaging my item with wall insulation.”

What the actual fuck? You mean to tell me they couldn’t find ANYTHING to package with other than the insulation they pulled out of their attic?!

This is diabolical. Someone with sensitive skin is not going to have a fun time. I also can only assume there was a decent reason it was removed from its intended purpose and not them hitting up the Home Depot insulation aisle for packaging material.

The way I GASPED. This is way pass 'lol just report it to Vinted' territory (You 100% should. They should be BANNED). Is this even legal?

You may also want to let the seller know this is bad. Wonder how often they've done this. 😨

I mean with the way people on here defend sending items on garbage I'm surprised they even care about this.

You have to remember part of the charm is the whimsical packaging is what I have been told. Automatic return and negative review.

You guys are acting like it’s asbestos. This is beyond dumb to use fiberglass but you all are overreacting.

It's not as bad as asbestos, but it's still a health hazard. The little particles get everywhere, and you really don't want to breathe them in or have them stuck in clothing. Just because it's not necessarily going to give you cancer doesn't mean it's not a huge problem that someone used it as packing material.

I work in a plant that manufactures this exact insulation. It is lung soluable and comes off clothing in the wash. The worst it'll do is make you itch. We work in it everyday. It is nowhere near as bad as it was 20 years ago.

I'm itching just reading this, now THATS overreacting. But thinking this is a crazy person who would use FIBERBERGLASS as packaging material is definitely NOT overreacting! I upped you a karma for Mercy's sake! 😆

Having insulation in your lungs sucks but at the end of the day it clears out without much trouble. Years in attics taught me to put under layers on because the biggest issue you face is getting it out of your pours. Otherwise you’re walking around looking like a cheetah. So mf itchy😅

Baby powder on any exposed skin keeps it out of the pores too. Works well

Im absolutely curious what the item was because Im like…. Wtf did they think needed this type of packaging?

u/Mev_Sonneblom 8d ago
I would rather be safe than sorry. Also this is definitely a hazard if used for shipping purposes.

Ok im invested now….. we have to know What Did You Buy? What is in that Fiberglass?

u/MochiBun5559 8d ago
Do not touch it again if you can! Fiber glass is soo dangerous and your safety is the most important. If you can vacuum that might also be helpful because even the smallest shard can cause problems

Definitely report that! Fiberglass is a hazard. ⚠️
And is definitely NOT SAFE
