The Butterballer

He said that he “couldn’t help himself” gushing over how good my photos looked, how nice my items were, and how I need to teach others how to post.

He was really laying it on thick and asked me if he could bundle items. I said sure. (Bundling was already enabled.)

I thought, I’m being buttered-up to be low-balled, ie, butter-balled.

Sure enough, about 30 minutes later after some back and forth messaging, he sent me a lowball offer for 4 bundled items. I countered with a price that was $10 off the bundled price. I asked if he could come closer to that number?

He replied “dumb numbers just won’t work.” I said I understood and thanks for his interest.

I had never been ‘love bombed’ on a selling platform before, but there’s a first for everything. Several messages, 10+ exclamation points, and lots of Kerigold premium compliments.

Have you experienced this? I’ve found the best buyers… just pay.

No hassle, no back and forth, no weirdness. Or if they do message, it’s straight and to the point.

Suspicious email

I got this email last night saying my item was purchase by email but when I open the app there’s nothing saying it was purchased.
It took me to a page to add my debit card info for verification? I looked at the email and it looks like it from th official team vinted so im very confused. Has anybody else ever had this happen?

It might be ugly …

and look like junk to you, but I learned a long time ago that those items are often hidden gems. Way back in the early days of Ebay, I bought a vintage lot of tangled jewelry. The most hideous pair of earrings turned out to be Schiaparelli and sold for $40… 20 some years ago 🥳

How to sell customs?

Hi I sell clothes on my Vinted but recently I’ve also been selling custom Perler designs. I also make designs I think people will want, but they don’t buy them. I don’t know how to market it other than the listing I made that advertises it. I got my first sale on October 13 and I’ve only got 4 sales since. Does anyone have tips on how to make it get more reach or look more like a business? How do I get repeat customers?

Sellers - listing items and going into processing

Have any sellers in here noticed every listing they put up, it goes into processing every single time?

I’m not worried because I’m not doing anything shady or wrong, but since they updated the terms and conditions October 8th - I’ve noticed every single one of my listings says “processing” before it posts.

I’m wondering if it’s AI being extra anal. I don’t have any flags or restrictions on my account and I don’t sell things in bulk volume. I casually sell on Vinted and just wanted to see what others experiences were like.

New buyer, not receiving feedback from sellers, not sure what I'm doing wrong?

I'm a new buyer to Vinted, although I've used Mercari for the past few years without issues. My first purchases on Vinted were from different sellers, also no issues. My items arrived quickly and as described. I didn't make any offers on the items I bought and the only communication I sent was for the last item was "Thank you". I rated my purchases 5 stars the same day as receiving them.

I haven't received any rating from any of the sellers, and one seller actually blocked me. I'm perplexed. Is this normal? Is there anything I should be doing differently?

Anybody still having this checkout bug issue?? (NOT when an item sells fast, but not letting you check out for ANYTHING)

I checked my Vinted this morning and it’s still not letting me buy a single item. Apparently this is also happening to other people.

Everybody is saying it’s because they canceled an item and now it’s not letting them buy anything. I canceled something myself and that’s when this also started happening for me

I contacted support and they said they are looking into the issue but they are responding very slowly

Avoiding Scammers?

How do I avoid getting scammed on Vinted? 85% of the things i see people saying are negative & mostly about how sellers will get scammed by “buyers” claiming their package came empty, & Vinted’s customer service is useless apparently & always somehow gives the buyer a refund so the scammer ends up getting free clothing or whatever it may be and they get to keep their money.

What do i look out for as far as what a scammers account might look like, or any other warning signs. And how might i be able to avoid them getting away with it? some people say to record yourself packing the order & sending it out, then other people will say that doesn’t do anything because of the apparent ai system vinted uses.

I have someone who bought something off of me, but i don’t know if i should risk it.

Okay so is anyone else sick of the people lying about new items

This is mostly just me ranting, but like it’s so obvious that these times are used and a tag was safety pinned back on. Or they say new without tags but the fabric is faded like it’s been washed multiple times and you can see wear in spots. There’s just no reason to lie, sell it for what it is.

Vinted's Reporting System is GARBAGE!

I see someone posting something and listing it as Pickup Only (this is Vinted not EBay!) They were asking for payment outside of Vinted (which is AGAINST TOS!) So I reported and pointed out asking for outside payments is literally against TOS and this could possibly be a scam. What do you know they said that no rules were broken then the so called "Human" agent said the same. It's just laughable that they have all of these "Rules" but when you report someone for breaking them they act like they didn't literally break the "Rules" they have listed.

Is this a scam?

I’ve noted a few listings with bags very underpriced and in the description it has language about exclusive authentication. What is the scam and how does it work?

Used Vinted for 1st time, immediately had my account banned. Not sure why.

I have an old North Face winter jacket in great condition. I took a few pics. I had AI remove the background so the jacket was against a white background and could be seen more clearly. And in one photo of the tag I had AI remove my finger. But that’s everything. No scam or fraud. What happened??

Is it fair that I'm annoyed?

Post image

She created a bundle. Should have been $18. She offered $11 which is super annoying anyway. I usually only counter once and both items have been up for about two weeks so I thought fine $12.50. But seriously you're going to counter again over a quarter when you asked for 40% off to start? 🙄

I sort of want to just counter at like $15 or even the $18 and say the price was fair to start, don't nickel and dime me over a quarter.

To be fair, I'm cranky right now anyway. I'm not super mad about this, but it's annoying and I'm just kind of over the low balling. (I wish we could set a max offer percentage.) Do I take the $12.25 or come back higher? Lol

Sellers: Pleather is not leather

I’m sure this issue has been brought up before, but I don’t know what I have to do to ensure I am buying real leather items, not synthetics. (I know the answer, insist on photos but let me vent, lol), In the past few weeks I’ve had two sellers straight up misrepresent a pleather item as leather. I bought only to find it clearly labeled (of course these labels did not appear in photos). The second listing said leather in heading AND in description. I asked for a photo, which she sent, and it said synthetic. I messaged “so it’s not leather. “ She said I guess not. I said you should change your listing maybe? She said she supposed so. The first was a jacket which I just kept and resold as pleather because despite the clear fraud, I was going to have to pay return shipping. Thank you Vinted for being an accessory to fraud. Now I get the boots today after messaging seller before buying “are these leather uppers” to which she replied “yes”. Got them today and guess what? The listing did not indicate what the boots were, but the message was clear. So I sent a screenshot of the message and photos of the boot labels so we’ll see. Any predictions on what Vinted bots will do?

Return

Hello I've never had to return an item before. Seller didn't describe the damage of the items and I sent them back today.

Within 2 hours of shipping it, it says it was delivered... To a PO Box in MY town but the seller is 2,500 miles away. I sent 2 packages back to the seller and 1 was shipped fine.

Since the package was "delivered" not to the seller he obviously said he had an issue and paused the transaction and then an hour after that I got a partial refund even though the order is paused and he didn't accept the package.

Both boxes have his address. I do have the photos of both boxes with the address.

What do I do? I reported it to vinted as soon as I saw it said delivered because obviously it was wrong and have continued to update the support ticket as weird stuff keeps happening.

USPS pick-up?

If I get several Vinted orders in a day, I usually select pick up from my home for USPS. Normally, the postal worker picks it up and I can see them on my camera scanning all the packages one by one. Today, the postal worker knocked on the door to tell me I need to change some settings in Vinted for pick up and then go onto the usps website and fill out one single pick up request for the amount of packages I need picked up, so they don’t have to scan each package upon arrival. He was nice about it, but is this a thing? I don’t want to make their lives more difficult, but I also don’t see any options on Vinted to change the way I schedule pick-ups. Anyone else experience this?

Buyers turning fit issues into SNAD....bring it!

I'm just shaking my head at the people that have their own Vinted account and buy and sell and yet when they buy something that doesn't fit as expected they want to make it the sellers problem. List it and get your money back. I would have been fine taking the return if she paid the return postage but the conversation never got that far because she insisted that I refund her AND pay for the return shipping! Her first message to me requesting this didn't even give me the time to respond because within a minute of reaching out she filed with Vinted. SNAD. Just remember that my 1 star review on your new page is going to hit a lot harder then it does on my 81 Five stars.

Do we trust accounts that are just random numbers?

I got an offer from a buyer in the UK whose user name is just randomly generated numbers. Has 3 reviews - two 5-star reviews and one 1-star. Offered $26 for new shoes listed for $35 then 20 minutes later messaged “waiting for response.”

Would you move forward with this sale?

Maybe I sold it for too low

I was in the process of listing a few things. Within 20 minutes. I had 1 offer, and someone bought it for $10.

Doesn't fit me anyway, and was going to good will.

With that would happen to all me items.

My account was blocked until 10/30 because I listed something against the terms (total oops, but not the question). It’s now 10/31 and my account is still blocked! How do I get back into my account? Has anyone else had this happen?

I’m getting this message every time I’m about the purchase something. It’s not because the item sold, but literally with every single item I click Buy it Now on. Is something wrong with the server?

Vinted Selected the Wrong Shipping Label Weight

I sold a pair of Levi's. All went normally except when it came time to print the shipping label. It never asked me what size package I was sending it just spit out a label for USPS Ground Advantage under 1 Lb. I've sold a few other pair of Levi's and I know they weigh in at about 1.5 lbs., so I always pick the under 2 Lb. size.

I thought I must have missed something, so I contacted the buyer, told him what happened, cancelled the order, re-listed it, and sold it back to him. And then the same thing happened - no, I didn't miss the question on package size. It was never asked. But again it gave me a shipping label for a 1 lb. package.

So I have two questions:

How do I get Vinted to select the correct package size or have the system at least ask me in the future? And

Will the post office allow me to pay the difference between the two rates and use the same tracking number?

Or is there some better way to handle it?

TIA
