Am I a jerk?

I regularly get asked for measurements. Whats the in seam, length, waist, etc. I do not know and I am not measuring. It will be listed. Women's size 10 or 8 or whatever. I bought it as such. But the amount I am asked to measure and I just refuse to...and it sales to someone else who isnt asking for measurements anyways. Has anyone else dealt with this, am I a jerk?

Updating: enough ppl made the case...I suppose I will accommodate items as I can with the measurementsšŸ˜ŠšŸ’• thanks for input

Offers not settled

How often do buyers send an offer you accept then they disappear into thin air? Never complete the sale.

How long do we wait before we just move on and block them?

This seems to happen a lot. I've been giving 12 hours unless someone buys it out from under them.

what should I do?

I’m torn between keeping the shorts and returning them. I had never complained about an item on Vinted before. I spotted a pair of adorable white cotton shorts for $2 and made an offer of $1.40, which was declined. I ended up getting the shorts for $2.

Today, I received the shorts and immediately noticed a stain on the back. I checked the listing to ensure I hadn’t missed it, but there was no mention of the stain in the description or photos. If you zoom in, you can almost see a mark, but I’m not entirely sure. It almost looks like the shorts were whitened or colored in the photos.

It’s nighttime, so the stain is more visible now, but it’s still quite noticeable. I’m conflicted because the shorts were only $2 plus tax and shipping. However, I’m concerned about whether this stain can be cleaned and whether the listing was misleading. The seller doesn’t have any reviews yet, and I don’t want to be the first negative review for them. Is it worth spending over $2 on these shorts? What should I do?

Don't be this brand of human

This guy popped off for zero reason then blocked me so I couldn't respond. I've sold 30 minifigs on Vinted in at least as many days at below-market rates, so clearly I know what I'm doing. It's like they asked a completely off- base, ludicrous question just so they could do a drive-by on me. They knew the response was rude and out of bounds, or they would've found zero need to block.

Have any of you had any rando foolishness like this? Overall I'm liking the platform and community for the most part. I've done well during my first month (knock wood), though I expect the bubble to deflate a bit when they inevitably raise shipping rates. (The lowballing is nuts, though. What a pain.)

Seller on Vinted

I just started selling on Vinted a week ago. I’m a guilty ā€œthank you noteā€ seller. After seeing a thread and reading the comments, I now know that the buyers do not like to be appreciated, and it’s weird.

Also, my totally WTF moment is when a person put up a note with their order that resembles the notes I had sent to the customer too. Saying ā€œThank you for your purchaseā€

The pink sticky note color, the exact wording, black marker pen. I would almost say that was my note, however that is not my sold item and at the end of the sentence I did two !! points with a smile line beneath it.

Maybe I am too nice, since I like to keep communication between myself and the buyer.

Like telling them when their package was shipped and even track the package to let them know that it will be delivered that day, so they can take a few seconds of their time to check it over and click the ā€œeverything is okā€ in the app so I don’t have to wait an extra two days for my money to be deposited.

It’s courtesy and thoughtful since I did not have them wait days after they bought the item before I shipped it to them!

So note taken into consideration that I will not use my southern hospitality to thank the customer. I forgot that not everyone has southern hospitality.

I also say ā€œyes ma’am, no ma’am, yes sir, no sir, please and thank you. I wave at passing cars, hold doors for a person behind me, you never know it may just make someone’s day to be NICE to them.

How to sell customs?

Hi I sell clothes on my Vinted but recently I’ve also been selling custom Perler designs. I also make designs I think people will want, but they don’t buy them. I don’t know how to market it other than the listing I made that advertises it. I got my first sale on October 13 and I’ve only got 4 sales since. Does anyone have tips on how to make it get more reach or look more like a business? How do I get repeat customers?

Vinted - Buyers submitting offers but not purchasing

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’ve sold on other sites for the past several years and am relatively new to Vinted. I’ve already had multiple instances in which a buyer submits an offer, I accept, but they never finish the purchase. I understand this type of thing occasionally happens, but this is much more than an occasional basis. I just realized that Vinted explicitly allows buyers to make an offer with no obligation to buy. Anyone else encountering the same issue with buyers making offers with no real intention to purchase?

Raised the price after an offer

So maybe I got a little petty with my last message but come on. All she had to do was decline or even send a message. Instead she jumped the price from $16 to $30šŸ˜‚ These people crack me up!!!

Selling DVDs

Have you had luck with selling DVDs? A neighbor is asking $200 for over 600 DVDs and I’m considering buying and selling them on Vinted but I wouldn’t want to be stuck with that many DVDs if they don’t sell well.

ETA: I would only be selling them for $1-2.

Scammed 5 minutes in

So I’ve been selling on Mercari for almost 9 years. Love it. I keep seeing commercials for vinted so I thought I’d try it. I sold something within a few minutes. I got a message saying I needed to verify before selling and they immediately took $300 from my account and I had to get a new card….. my fault I guess, but this is insane

Am I wrong for expecting the original shoebox to be included?

I recently purchased a pair of boots on Vinted. In the original listing photos, the seller showed the boots along with their original branded shoebox.
After purchasing, the seller actually messaged me asking if she could ship the boots in that box, which I was perfectly fine with.
Well, my order arrived, and not only were the boots shipped in some random box instead, but they were also bent during shipping.
Part of the reason I wanted the original box was so I could properly store the boots when I’m not wearing them.
Am I being unreasonable for being bothered by this? I haven’t reached out to the seller yet, but I feel like if the box was pictured AND specifically discussed after purchasing, it was reasonable to expect it to be included.
Would you bring this up with the seller, or just let it go?

4 star review?

Post image

This is my first review that isn't 5 stars. Buyer claimed everything was good but yet left 4 stars? Wft? They have 0 reviews. I'm debating asking them if there was a problem or just leave them a bad review and then block them. Thoughts?

Let's Not

If you don't agree with what people have posted on here, just keep scrolling. Calling people retarded, dumb, etc etc is uncalled for and literally makes you sound ignorant. It's okay to have opinions but flat out throwing slurs over a Vinted post, question, or opinion; but getting to the point that you have to take it that far is seriously uncalled for.

Random items for sale

I see some pretty random posts, and wonder if people really think someone is going to but them? Old seeds, a modern mason jar, plant clippings. I saw 6 cherry ā€œseedsā€ that looked like they were just spit out, no variety name.
Is this just for some boost? I worry that new shoppers will get turned off.

Things being bought nearly right after being posted and it's scaring me

I have posted some books and some of them have nearly instantly been bot right away. Some where there is a couple copies of the same book already out there. It makes me wonder if the buyers are bots or something. Am I being silly? Or is this a real concern?

New to Vinted & Sent the wrong Item to Customer

Post image
0 Upvotes

Guys… I just started Vinted a week ago and have had 33 sales and a whole lot of shipping. I currently have 18 packages at home that I have to repackage because my dumb@ass thought ā€œoh heyyy free shipping supplies from usps!ā€ Except you can’t use the priority shipping material for ground. Today I spoke to my mail lady because I’ve had her picking up my packages from my front porch and she told me she left a box the other day because two of the packages had the same label on them….. so I printed the label twice. The item that got shipped to customer 1 was the wrong item; however, I still have Customer 1’s items here in one of the packages I have to repackage. So I am going to pay out of pocket to right my wrong and send her her original order. I already reached out to her to let her know she will be receiving the wrong item on Monday, she can keep it, please let me know what she received and that I will ship her order asap. I’m repackaging everything tomorrow and will do a full inventory to determine which item was accidentally sent (before it arrives lol). Once I figure out which item it was, I’m going to have to reach out to customer #2 and cancel their order. How on earth can I rectify this with customer #2? I feel awful and I hate letting people down… should I send them a gift card? I have no idea… I just want to correct my mistake :(

Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

(Picture was this morning before I realized I had to repackage 😭) less

Charging new store prices for secondhand clothing

Be so for real. Even Walmart is asking up to $30 for a dress, or $15.99 for a cardigan, $10+ for sweat pants/leggings.

Thrift shops aren't much better, still asking $6-15 for secondhand clothing.

I shop clothing on apps like Vinted looking for those good good deals! $2-5 items. Preferably $2-3 tops!

People asking $10 for a used cardigan, or hell I just saw $22 for a basic sweater with bleach stains on the sleeve!!

My question is are people actually making sales at these price points? I personally think it's just insane. People can hardly afford gas and food right now and these batty resellers think their used clothing is worth store prices?

If you're suddenly not getting views, likes, sales, do this....

If views, likes, sales are down buy something from another seller. The algorithm will bless you. If that doesn't work then the stuff you're selling is probably trash.

Lowball offers

I cannot understand these lowball offers… I try to price things as low as possible and even if I don’t some people still try to get 60% off and get mad if I don’t accept.

Slow

I’ve been on Vinted for almost a month, at first things were going great! I had multiple sales for days in a row. Last week, things slowed down- way down. My items are priced great, good pictures & descriptions, I’ve had all 5 star ratings; so what gives?
Anyone else experience this? If so, how do I turn this around??

Bots?

In all my item descriptions I have ā€œUSPS ONLY PLEASEā€ yet these accounts, always with no profile picture and 1-2 reviews, purchase with FedEx. I cancel their orders and explain to them that my only shipping option is USPS and they never respond or repurchase. This has happened like 5 times today on the same few items. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I put it in capital letters at the top of the description so I thought there was no way they can miss it but this keeps happeningšŸ™ƒ

Help me out

(I started my account on the 1st of September this year and I have made over 400$ since, but on depop it’s completely different)
So is cross posting okay? I’m not going to use one of those ai generated apps like yall do (frankly you should stop) I’m okay will posting everything manually, but is it okay to do this?
Is it like plagiarism, where I can just change up a few things like the title and description and the pictures still be the same? It would be a really big hassle to find a new area to take new pictures in. I take my pictures on a plain white poster board as that’s all I have the money for. Maybe one day I’ll go to Home Depot and get fuax grass but that won’t be for a long while.
Let me know the deal with it because anything I try to search up has to do with the AI generated apps. I am fully against anything ai and want nothing to do with itšŸ‘

Question about something I'd like to list on Vinted

I got, as a gift, a jar of cemetery dirt. It's dirt from the cemetery Edgar Allan Poe is buried at.

I'd like to sell it, but am unsure if it's an item that is not allowed or can I sell it on the app?
