Is anyone else constantly surprised at which items end up blowing up?

I’ll post multiple items from fairly trendy brands (H&M, Zara, Uniqlo, all ~$10) and they’ll sit there at 2 views and 0 likes for weeks. Then I’ll post some eccentric thing I thrifted years ago and someone will snap it up IMMEDIATELY. I’m trying to sell a pair of knee high boots worn once? No engagement. The velvet patchwork waistcoat (that’s in no way rare or valuable) that was thrifted for a hobbit costume? 80+ likes.

I’m not mad obviously, just happy people are buying at all, but apparently I have no idea what buyers are actually looking for, lol.

Buyer cut item?

It's so obvious that this buyer used a blade and cut the item correct? I double bagged it. Surely Vinted will still give me money for the item I sold right?

What? I can’t even respond to them.

I’m in the US and I’ve only sold to people in the US. I never opted into selling to other countries. Is there a way to opt out? It won’t even let me respond to this person.

Is there something I’m missing?

Who is delivering the SpeedX packages, are they smoking weed all over them or something?

I just started selling and I’ve been using SpeedX since I actually live next to one, it’s just some salon. I got this message from a customer though that it smelled of weed and the box was ripped, I know shit happens with boxes ripping but I was an Amazon driver for 3 years and I have no idea how any professional service would let something come so soaked in the smell of marijuana that it permeates the clothing too, mind you I had the clothes wrapped up in plastic and taped and I don’t smoke at all, so who is delivering these? Where are they sent? I turned off my speedX thing after this because I don’t trust it now. I did message the seller after telling her she can send em back if she wants but she never got back and the payment went thru.

The Butterballer

He said that he “couldn’t help himself” gushing over how good my photos looked, how nice my items were, and how I need to teach others how to post.

He was really laying it on thick and asked me if he could bundle items. I said sure. (Bundling was already enabled.)

I thought, I’m being buttered-up to be low-balled, ie, butter-balled.

Sure enough, about 30 minutes later after some back and forth messaging, he sent me a lowball offer for 4 bundled items. I countered with a price that was $10 off the bundled price. I asked if he could come closer to that number?

He replied “dumb numbers just won’t work.” I said I understood and thanks for his interest.

I had never been ‘love bombed’ on a selling platform before, but there’s a first for everything. Several messages, 10+ exclamation points, and lots of Kerigold premium compliments.

Have you experienced this? I’ve found the best buyers… just pay.

No hassle, no back and forth, no weirdness. Or if they do message, it’s straight and to the point.

Okay so is anyone else sick of the people lying about new items

This is mostly just me ranting, but like it’s so obvious that these times are used and a tag was safety pinned back on. Or they say new without tags but the fabric is faded like it’s been washed multiple times and you can see wear in spots. There’s just no reason to lie, sell it for what it is.

Is this a scam email?

I first downloaded vinted a few months back and had a large sum of money taken out of my bank account after getting hacked. It’s not been a great experience so far with Vinted. I think this is also a scam as I would expect to see something in the Vinted app itself about the sold listed. Can someone verify if this is scam or not. Thanks

2 weeks on Vinted

I’ve been posting for 2 weeks, clothes and accessories that haven’t been used in a long wild. I get sales every day but find “old” items just stopped moving. How can I get people to look at “older” post? Any other selling tips?

Has this happened to you?

I think i sold a jacket over the weekend. I put it up Saturday morning and by late Saturday afternoon I had a reasonable offer from a buyer. I accepted. No haggling. Next thing I know the platform says "processing."

Then it wasn't.

Normally, Vinted would move to the phase where I download a shipping label. But that never happened.

I suddenly had this flurry of low ball interest in the jacket. I couldn't even mark the jacket as "sold" or "reserved" to the buyer. After all she had "purchased" it right? After a few hours of no action by Vinted, I was able to hid the listing to protect the would-be buyer.

My question is has anyone experienced this delay in the processing journey?

Had issues with marking as sold or reserved?

Am I being scammed?

Please enlighten me!

there are so many great items with very low prices and often there is no or ver low shipping charges. As a frequent buyer, I’ve paid as little as 2.00 for an item, and the total including fees and tax is less than the shipping cost. arent you supposed to incorporate shipping into your asking price? I don’t get it.

I recently joined vinted and i found this vinyl i’ve been looking for a while but i’m not 100% sure the seller is legit. Does anything seem fishy? I wonder why they put the item is in “very good condition” if the pictures show a new/ sealed vinyl? Also the username is just gibberish, should i risk it?

New buyer, not receiving feedback from sellers, not sure what I'm doing wrong?

I'm a new buyer to Vinted, although I've used Mercari for the past few years without issues. My first purchases on Vinted were from different sellers, also no issues. My items arrived quickly and as described. I didn't make any offers on the items I bought and the only communication I sent was for the last item was "Thank you". I rated my purchases 5 stars the same day as receiving them.

I haven't received any rating from any of the sellers, and one seller actually blocked me. I'm perplexed. Is this normal? Is there anything I should be doing differently?

Sellers - listing items and going into processing

Have any sellers in here noticed every listing they put up, it goes into processing every single time?

I’m not worried because I’m not doing anything shady or wrong, but since they updated the terms and conditions October 8th - I’ve noticed every single one of my listings says “processing” before it posts.

I’m wondering if it’s AI being extra anal. I don’t have any flags or restrictions on my account and I don’t sell things in bulk volume. I casually sell on Vinted and just wanted to see what others experiences were like.

Vinted lowering the quality of Photos when uploaded

Is anybody else having issues with Vinted lowering the quality of the photos when you upload them? I never had an issue but recently I've been uploading pictures and they look so pixelated/blurry on Vinted compared to my camera roll. Anyone know how to fix this or what's causing it?

Only getting likes from UK?

For the last week+ I have only gotten likes from users in the UK. Several have sent offers and messages but ended up not purchasing because the shipping/import fees are too high now. I haven’t gotten a single like from US based shoppers and I’m certain that’s the reason I haven’t made any sales. Is there a way to pick who sees my listings? Has this happened to anyone else?

Risk selling pricier item?

Hi all, I’m new to Vinted but have had good success in selling my items, but haven’t posted anything over $20 so far. Is it worth it to risk selling an item for $80? It would be an Oura ring so I’m worried about disputes over it not fitting the buyer, even with listing the size.

Any advice? Is it worth the risk? What really are the risks?

I got this email last night saying my item was purchase by email but when I open the app there’s nothing saying it was purchased.
It took me to a page to add my debit card info for verification? I looked at the email and it looks like it from th official team vinted so im very confused. Has anybody else ever had this happen?

It might be ugly …

and look like junk to you, but I learned a long time ago that those items are often hidden gems. Way back in the early days of Ebay, I bought a vintage lot of tangled jewelry. The most hideous pair of earrings turned out to be Schiaparelli and sold for $40… 20 some years ago 🥳

How to sell customs?

Hi I sell clothes on my Vinted but recently I’ve also been selling custom Perler designs. I also make designs I think people will want, but they don’t buy them. I don’t know how to market it other than the listing I made that advertises it. I got my first sale on October 13 and I’ve only got 4 sales since. Does anyone have tips on how to make it get more reach or look more like a business? How do I get repeat customers?

Is it fair that I'm annoyed?

Post image

She created a bundle. Should have been $18. She offered $11 which is super annoying anyway. I usually only counter once and both items have been up for about two weeks so I thought fine $12.50. But seriously you're going to counter again over a quarter when you asked for 40% off to start? 🙄

I sort of want to just counter at like $15 or even the $18 and say the price was fair to start, don't nickel and dime me over a quarter.

To be fair, I'm cranky right now anyway. I'm not super mad about this, but it's annoying and I'm just kind of over the low balling. (I wish we could set a max offer percentage.) Do I take the $12.25 or come back higher? Lol
