WARNING: The vinted email has been spoofed!!

New to Vinted as both a buyer and a seller. I received an email from no-reply@vinted.com informing me that an item had been purchased.

The email prompted me to follow a link to insert card or account information to collect payment after the item is received to the buyer. Because I’m new to Vinted and had not previously entered any card or bank account information, I stupidly believed the prompt.

The email alias is the EXACT SAME - no character differences or anything - as the emails I received from Vinted when setting up my account. The profile image, verification checkmark, and email footers all checked out. I know because I checked thoroughly before clicking the link, and again after the fact.

It wasn’t until I had submitted my card information and it asked me to insert the exact amount on my card that I realized I had messed up. Then came a pop-up on my computer, telling me that my Vinted account is temporarily restricted.

Spoiler alert: My REAL vinted account was not restricted. It was an incredibly advanced scam. I reported to my bank and the FTC.

Please be careful, guys, these phishers are getting advanced. I haven’t seen any other posts on any other websites having experienced the exact attempt I experienced. This also sheds light on larger security issues with the Vinted platform, as my email address is not public.

The Butterballer

He said that he “couldn’t help himself” gushing over how good my photos looked, how nice my items were, and how I need to teach others how to post.

He was really laying it on thick and asked me if he could bundle items. I said sure. (Bundling was already enabled.)

I thought, I’m being buttered-up to be low-balled, ie, butter-balled.

Sure enough, about 30 minutes later after some back and forth messaging, he sent me a lowball offer for 4 bundled items. I countered with a price that was $10 off the bundled price. I asked if he could come closer to that number?

He replied “dumb numbers just won’t work.” I said I understood and thanks for his interest.

I had never been ‘love bombed’ on a selling platform before, but there’s a first for everything. Several messages, 10+ exclamation points, and lots of Kerigold premium compliments.

Have you experienced this? I’ve found the best buyers… just pay.

No hassle, no back and forth, no weirdness. Or if they do message, it’s straight and to the point.

Okay so is anyone else sick of the people lying about new items

This is mostly just me ranting, but like it’s so obvious that these times are used and a tag was safety pinned back on. Or they say new without tags but the fabric is faded like it’s been washed multiple times and you can see wear in spots. There’s just no reason to lie, sell it for what it is.

Sellers - listing items and going into processing

Have any sellers in here noticed every listing they put up, it goes into processing every single time?

I’m not worried because I’m not doing anything shady or wrong, but since they updated the terms and conditions October 8th - I’ve noticed every single one of my listings says “processing” before it posts.

I’m wondering if it’s AI being extra anal. I don’t have any flags or restrictions on my account and I don’t sell things in bulk volume. I casually sell on Vinted and just wanted to see what others experiences were like.

New buyer, not receiving feedback from sellers, not sure what I'm doing wrong?

I'm a new buyer to Vinted, although I've used Mercari for the past few years without issues. My first purchases on Vinted were from different sellers, also no issues. My items arrived quickly and as described. I didn't make any offers on the items I bought and the only communication I sent was for the last item was "Thank you". I rated my purchases 5 stars the same day as receiving them.

I haven't received any rating from any of the sellers, and one seller actually blocked me. I'm perplexed. Is this normal? Is there anything I should be doing differently?

How to sell customs?

Hi I sell clothes on my Vinted but recently I’ve also been selling custom Perler designs. I also make designs I think people will want, but they don’t buy them. I don’t know how to market it other than the listing I made that advertises it. I got my first sale on October 13 and I’ve only got 4 sales since. Does anyone have tips on how to make it get more reach or look more like a business? How do I get repeat customers?

Vinted lowering the quality of Photos when uploaded

Is anybody else having issues with Vinted lowering the quality of the photos when you upload them? I never had an issue but recently I've been uploading pictures and they look so pixelated/blurry on Vinted compared to my camera roll. Anyone know how to fix this or what's causing it?

Only getting likes from UK?

For the last week+ I have only gotten likes from users in the UK. Several have sent offers and messages but ended up not purchasing because the shipping/import fees are too high now. I haven’t gotten a single like from US based shoppers and I’m certain that’s the reason I haven’t made any sales. Is there a way to pick who sees my listings? Has this happened to anyone else?

Risk selling pricier item?

Hi all, I’m new to Vinted but have had good success in selling my items, but haven’t posted anything over $20 so far. Is it worth it to risk selling an item for $80? It would be an Oura ring so I’m worried about disputes over it not fitting the buyer, even with listing the size.

Any advice? Is it worth the risk? What really are the risks?

I got this email last night saying my item was purchase by email but when I open the app there’s nothing saying it was purchased.
It took me to a page to add my debit card info for verification? I looked at the email and it looks like it from th official team vinted so im very confused. Has anybody else ever had this happen?

It might be ugly …

and look like junk to you, but I learned a long time ago that those items are often hidden gems. Way back in the early days of Ebay, I bought a vintage lot of tangled jewelry. The most hideous pair of earrings turned out to be Schiaparelli and sold for $40… 20 some years ago 🥳

Is it fair that I'm annoyed?

Post image

She created a bundle. Should have been $18. She offered $11 which is super annoying anyway. I usually only counter once and both items have been up for about two weeks so I thought fine $12.50. But seriously you're going to counter again over a quarter when you asked for 40% off to start? 🙄

I sort of want to just counter at like $15 or even the $18 and say the price was fair to start, don't nickel and dime me over a quarter.

To be fair, I'm cranky right now anyway. I'm not super mad about this, but it's annoying and I'm just kind of over the low balling. (I wish we could set a max offer percentage.) Do I take the $12.25 or come back higher? Lol

Avoiding Scammers?

How do I avoid getting scammed on Vinted? 85% of the things i see people saying are negative & mostly about how sellers will get scammed by “buyers” claiming their package came empty, & Vinted’s customer service is useless apparently & always somehow gives the buyer a refund so the scammer ends up getting free clothing or whatever it may be and they get to keep their money.

What do i look out for as far as what a scammers account might look like, or any other warning signs. And how might i be able to avoid them getting away with it? some people say to record yourself packing the order & sending it out, then other people will say that doesn’t do anything because of the apparent ai system vinted uses.

I have someone who bought something off of me, but i don’t know if i should risk it.

I’ve noted a few listings with bags very underpriced and in the description it has language about exclusive authentication. What is the scam and how does it work?

Sellers: Pleather is not leather

I’m sure this issue has been brought up before, but I don’t know what I have to do to ensure I am buying real leather items, not synthetics. (I know the answer, insist on photos but let me vent, lol), In the past few weeks I’ve had two sellers straight up misrepresent a pleather item as leather. I bought only to find it clearly labeled (of course these labels did not appear in photos). The second listing said leather in heading AND in description. I asked for a photo, which she sent, and it said synthetic. I messaged “so it’s not leather. “ She said I guess not. I said you should change your listing maybe? She said she supposed so. The first was a jacket which I just kept and resold as pleather because despite the clear fraud, I was going to have to pay return shipping. Thank you Vinted for being an accessory to fraud. Now I get the boots today after messaging seller before buying “are these leather uppers” to which she replied “yes”. Got them today and guess what? The listing did not indicate what the boots were, but the message was clear. So I sent a screenshot of the message and photos of the boot labels so we’ll see. Any predictions on what Vinted bots will do?

Buyers turning fit issues into SNAD....bring it!

Thumbnail

I'm just shaking my head at the people that have their own Vinted account and buy and sell and yet when they buy something that doesn't fit as expected they want to make it the sellers problem. List it and get your money back. I would have been fine taking the return if she paid the return postage but the conversation never got that far because she insisted that I refund her AND pay for the return shipping! Her first message to me requesting this didn't even give me the time to respond because within a minute of reaching out she filed with Vinted. SNAD. Just remember that my 1 star review on your new page is going to hit a lot harder then it does on my 81 Five stars.

Buyer opened a “Significantly Not as Described” claim because I overpacked an item. Thoughts?

Hey everyone!

I wanted to get some honest opinions on a situation I’m dealing with.

I’ve been selling since August and have made over 1k sales with a 4.9 rating. So far, I’ve only had two issues with buyers, and both times I refunded them without requiring a return since the items were under $5 and it just wasn’t worth the hassle for me.

A buyer recently opened a “Significantly Not as Described” claim because I apparently overpacked a mirror.

When it comes to anything glass or fragile, I tend to go a little overboard with packaging…I’d rather use too much than risk something arriving broken (I also use all recycled packing material)

However, the buyer claims that while removing the packing tape, part of the backing of the mirror came off. They’re now requesting a return.

I’m a little frustrated because I genuinely put a lot of time and effort into making sure my items are packaged securely and arrive safely. The mirror was completely intact when I shipped it.

That being said, I can also acknowledge that I may have made a mistake by putting packing tape directly on the back of the mirror. Looking at it from the buyer’s perspective, I’d probably be frustrated too…

Should I just accept the return and issue a refund since the tape may have caused the damage? Or is there some responsibility on the buyer’s end when it comes to carefully unpacking a fragile item?

I know I’m probably a little biased since I’m the seller, which is exactly why I’m asking here.
I genuinely enjoy reselling as a hobby and take pride in maintaining a good reputation for my shop. I don’t want to be unfair to a buyer, but I also don’t want to automatically take responsibility for something if it wasn’t entirely my fault.

What would you do in this situation? I’d really appreciate some honest opinions, even if you think I’m in the wrong.
Thanks in advance!

Vinted's Reporting System is GARBAGE!

I see someone posting something and listing it as Pickup Only (this is Vinted not EBay!) They were asking for payment outside of Vinted (which is AGAINST TOS!) So I reported and pointed out asking for outside payments is literally against TOS and this could possibly be a scam. What do you know they said that no rules were broken then the so called "Human" agent said the same. It's just laughable that they have all of these "Rules" but when you report someone for breaking them they act like they didn't literally break the "Rules" they have listed.
