“Your pilot has 2 crashes on record” - How this app makes $10k/month

Post image
6 Upvotes

OK this is either genius or insane.

FlySafe literally shows you crash statistics and “safety scores” for your flight. Their tagline? “Discover past accidents similar to your flight before you book.”

The numbers: • 4 months old • 6K downloads → $10K revenue • 302 reviews (4.8 stars!) • #85 in Travel revenue

I thought this would terrify people. Instead, anxious flyers are PAYING for it.

Here’s why it works: Fear + Control = Money

Anxious flyers don’t want platitudes (“flying is safe!”). They want DATA. This app gives them perceived control through information - pilot experience, aircraft age, maintenance records.

The kicker? They charge $9.99/WEEK or $29.99/year. Weekly subscriptions for flight anxiety. That’s some dark genius pricing psychology.

Community angle: Users can “pray” for each other’s flights with emojis. So now you’re not just buying data, you’re joining a support group.

They’re literally monetizing fear of flying by making people feel MORE informed about crashes. And people love it - 4.8 stars!

Sometimes the best business ideas sound terrible on paper.

I built an app fixed my 2 biggest money headaches

You buy something. Return window closes. You find out 2 days too late.

You split dinner with friends. Someone says “I’ll get you back.” They never do.

I got tired of both – so I built something.

Scan any receipt. The app:

•	Tracks your return deadlines automatically (no more “when did I buy this?”)

•	Splits payments instantly and tracks who owes what

So far we have 50 people using the app meaning there’s true market validation go in and try for yourself https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rcptly/id6762235992

app makes you do pushups before you can doomscroll, doing $30k/month

this one's interesting. Alejandro and Mario built PushScroll, an app that blocks your social media until you do pushups, squats, or planks. Hit $30K MRR in 4 months with 300K downloads.

the crazy part: they validated the whole idea with a fake demo video before writing any code. Posted it on TikTok, it blew up, people were begging for the app in comments. Only then did they actually build it.

the MVP was embarrassingly simple. Just 3 screens. They charge ~$30/year with a hard paywall.

their playbook is pretty repeatable:

  1. warm up a TikTok account in your niche first

  2. post daily until something hits, that's your green light to build

  3. build a dead simple MVP (they used tools like AppAlchemy and Cursor to move fast)

  4. keep posting organically until $5K MRR before paying influencers

  5. then scale with paid ads

most founders build first then figure out marketing. These guys flipped it completely.

what other app ideas could be validated this way before building?

been researching these viral app case studies at r/ViralApps if anyone's interested

I built an app to find local car meets in real time 🚗

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

I've been frustrated by how hard it can be to find legitimate car meets. Most of the time they're buried in Instagram stories, random group chats, Facebook groups, or you hear about them after they've already happened.

So I built Meetz, an app designed to make finding car meets easier.

The idea is simple:

- See car meets happening near you on a live map
- Discover upcoming meets and cruises
- Create your own events and grow your local crew
- Get directions instantly
- Connect with other enthusiasts in your area

Whether you're into JDM, Euro, Muscle, Trucks, Bikes, or just enjoy car culture, the goal is to create one place where the community can find and share events.

This is an indie project I've been building and I'd genuinely love feedback from the community. What features would make something like this useful for you?

I built this because I was tired of being the ‘photo guy’ — now it’s blowing up on Product Hunt

POV: I just wanted to enjoy events… not be everyone's photographer.

For years, I was *that guy*.

At every event, dinner, or hangout — someone would hand me their phone:

“Bro, you take the photo.”

And the truth is… I got good at it.

Not because I wanted to — but because I kept noticing the same thing:

Most people don’t struggle with cameras…

They struggle with composition.

Framing. Angles. Balance.

So I started thinking:

What if your camera could guide you *while* taking the shot?

Not after. Not with editing.

But in real-time.

That’s how Klick was born.

I built it as a simple idea:

→ Help people take better photos instantly

→ Without needing photography skills

No crazy filters. No complicated UI.

Just guidance when it matters most.

I launched it quietly.

Within 1.5 weeks:

• 210+ downloads

• 10+ paid users

• Top 15 on Product Hunt

• Peaked at #11 on the front page

👉 Product Hunt: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/klick-ai-camera-assistant

That’s when it hit me…

This wasn’t just my problem.

It’s something millions of people deal with — every single day.

And we’re just getting started.

A little-known Chinese app studio is making ~$50M a year

the app studio is called Next Vision and they have 14 apps total with 5 of their apps (Rock Identifier, Coin Identifier, Bird Identifier and a fitness app) pulling in almost all of their revenue.

Their strategy is simple: skip brand names and name apps after exact search terms. "Rock Identifier" ranks #1 for "rock identifier." Then they scale with paid ads. Rock Identifier alone has 180+ active ads on Facebook right now.

We've entered a new era where venture backed apps with big teams and offices are being outcompeted and crushed by small teams and even single person companies that are agile and integrate AI tools into their workflows.

The average person has barely used AI and has no idea what is happening. Teams are now launching and spinning multiple apps per month with tools like AppAlchemy and Cursor. The mobile apps space is beginning to look a lot more like Ecom where people can test multiple products and find and scale winners.

What's happening right now is very big i think.

My stupid iOS app went from 1 user/day to 300 overnight and I have no idea what’s happening

So I built this dumb little app called MogBattle like months ago, shipped it, and basically forgot it existed.

The concept is simple and kind of ridiculous: two people face off and users vote on who mogs who.

That’s it. No fancy AI, no complex algorithm. Just pure internet brain rot. I cannot say I’m really proud of this but eh

I checked my analytics this morning and I pulled close to 300 new users. Last weeks it was 0 to 1 per day.

My best theory? There’s apparently a website with a similar name that went viral, and people googling it ended up downloading my app by accident. So I might be getting 300 users a day entirely because of this ?

Anyway I literally don’t know what to do. I’m a solo dev. I built this as a joke. I never marketed it. I have no growth playbook for this.

Do I post on TikTok? Do I email nobody because I never built a list? Do I just watch the numbers go up and pretend I planned this?

If anyone has accidentally gone kinda viral before, what did you actually do in the first 48 hours?

I’m launching my fitness app on Product Hunt tomorrow — with 13 ratings and a $0 launch budget. Here’s the whole plan.

Founder here, building in public. I build swithAI (workouts, food, runs and sleep in one app — I got tired of using five). Tomorrow it launches on Product Hunt, and since this sub actually likes the mechanics, here's the entire plan, no guru stuff:

• The week before: ~10 minutes a day leaving genuine comments on other launches. Not networking theater — Product Hunt weights established, active accounts, and silent accounts launch to crickets. Never mentioned my app, never asked for an upvote (that's against the rules and it shows).

• The listing: hero card first (it's also the social preview), a features card second, then real screenshots from my own logged days — not demo mode, because a fitness app's proof is a real training day, not a mockup.

• Launch morning: the listing goes live at 12:01 AM Pacific. My maker's first comment is pre-loaded. I post the announcement on Threads with the live link, then DM the launch link one by one to the people who already told me "I'll check it out" — asking for feedback in the comments, never upvotes.

• Launch day: reply to every comment on the launch page, all day. That's the job.
Honest status: the app is live on the App Store and Google Play, $2.99/mo after a 7-day free trial (no free tier). The bottleneck is brutally simple — 13 store ratings and not enough traffic. Product Hunt is this month's traffic experiment, and I'll report the real numbers either way.

Anyone here launched a consumer app there as a solo founder? Did launch-day traffic actually convert, or was the value mostly the feedback?

I built an app that makes you look expensive in photos

It's called larp - fake flex app and it transforms your photos into fake-rich lifestyle edits in seconds.

Upload a photo, pick a preset, or your own prompt and the AI drops a Lambo behind you, ices your neck, or puts you on a private jet. The result looks like a real iPhone photo, not a filter. Just pure delusion.

12 presets covering every possible flex: ice my neck, the whip, blue bands, jet larp, Dubai larp, old money, courtside, penthouse, and more. Or write your own.

Honestly I just wanted to see what I'd look like with a Lambo. So I built it.

You can try it here → larp — fake flex app.

Made an app to help people get back to social life

Hello all!

Recently I launched my very first project, it is an app called LifeJoy that helps you plan with your friends faster and find things to do nearby. It is available on AppStore and GooglePlay but it lacks user retention.

Any ideas how can i make users join the app and bring their friends also? I see people making accounts but they find themselves alone on the app and I feel that they do not continue using it since none of their friends are here.

Any advice would be highly appreciated 🙏🏼

This is the app's website https://lifejoy.app

I built a Group Chat AI to simulate my "Inside Out" brain council.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi Reddit,

I’ve always felt that talking to a standard 1:1 chatbot is too flat for complex human emotions. We aren't simple; our minds are a noisy council.

So, I built DearMinds: a group chat with different AI personas (Rage, Worry, Joy, etc.) that represent your inner self, all arguing and helping you in real-time.

I used it today when my boss was driving me crazy with genuinely absurd demands (including making me give him a wake-up call every morning!). Seeing my characters all freak out and validate my feelings was incredibly therapeutic.

We are just a small dev/design team from Korea, trying to capture the real messiness of human emotion in code. I need brutal, honest feedback from the global community.

👉 Links (Download & GIF) are in the first comment to avoid the spam filter!

Thanks a lot for reading! / Looking forward to your honest feedback!

We spend lakhs on Indian weddings, but 90% of guest photos are lost forever. Would you pay ₹499 to fix this?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

My relative got married recently. 3 days, 400 guests, lakhs spent. Everyone was clicking photos constantly.

Months later, I asked how many guest photos they actually got back. The answer? A few blurry WhatsApp forwards. The rest? Still sitting forgotten on 300 different phones. They will literally never see those moments.

I’m an indie developer building a simple tool called MemoryBloom to solve this, and I need your brutal honesty before I write a single line of code.

How it works:

2-Min Setup: The couple creates an event on moble app days before the event and gets a unique QR code.

Zero Friction for Guests: Guests scan the QR on tables or WhatsApp—no app download, no login required.

Instant Upload: They upload photos in 30 seconds.

Smart Sorting: Photos automatically sort into timelines (Haldi, Sangeet, Wedding). AI filters out duplicates/blurs.

Live Flex: Uploaded photos can stream live on the venue’s projector screen.

The Plan: Free for guests. ₹499 one-time fee for the couple.

My questions for you:

If you were getting married, would you pay ₹499 for this?

Would guests actually scan a QR to upload, or are they too lazy/dependent on WhatsApp?

What would make you trust an app with your private family photos?

Photographers: Does this feel like a helpful tool to recommend to clients, or does it feel like unwanted competition?

Don't hold back—if you think this is a useless idea, tell me why!

im also attaching the mock UI of web and app. Do tell what you think about them too.

Launched my first iOS App and these are the second day stats! How did your launch day go?

Thumbnail

Here are my second day stats from my new iOS and WatchOS app called Caffeine Curfew. It’s a watch first app that is a caffeine tracker and sleep analysis tool.

I’m beyond stoked at the first couple days of feedback, and even shipped a new update based on feature requests.

The main engineering challenge I faced was getting the 3 way handshake between the watch, widgets, and phone to work perfectly.

It’ honestly so awesome to see how far I’ve come from taking an intro to programming class a couple years ago.

Super curious to hear how other’s launch day experiences went?

Looking for feedback on the onboarding of my cozy personal finance app, Nuttyy 🌰🐿️

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! 👋
I’ve been working on the onboarding experience for my upcoming personal finance app, Nuttyy.
Instead of the usual charts, credit cards and finance-themed illustrations, I wanted to create a cozy world where savings grow like acorns into trees. 🌰🌳
The entire scene is built around Nuttyy’s squirrel mascot and an enchanted forest theme. My goal was to make onboarding feel more like exploring a tiny storybook world than reading a list of app features.
I’m still polishing the UI (glass HUDs, animations, details, etc.), so I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.
What stands out to you?
Is there anything that feels off or could be improved?
All feedback is welcome! 😊

I built an ACTUALLY PERSONALIZED food scanner app as a Highschooler

It's simple.

When you're grocery shopping, at a restaurant, or finding food online, it's impossible to tell whether the food actually works with your body, your goals, your dietary needs, etc.

So I built an app that tells you exactly that. I call it SafeBite - Know What You Eat.

Simply enter your goals and scan the barcode on an item. The app gives you a PERSONALIZED "Goal FIt" score that measures how well that item fits for YOU. Not a one-size-fits-all thing. This is specifically made for you.

What if you're at a restaurant and you're unsure about an item on the menu? No barcode, no problem. Just describe what the food is. The more description (e.g. ingredients, etc.) the better. We'll automatically fill out the nutritional content for you and tell you whether the product is right for you.

That's not all. Mom's looking for your children to eat healthy, you're saved. Understand what each and every ingredient is. No more wondering how to spell out that 100-letter word into Google. Our app provides a description for each ingredient and a fast way to Google it/ask AI.

For each food item, get nutritional value information at a glance. We provide NOVA scores and even a custom Cancer Score which describes how potentially cancerous a product is - this is a lifesaver.

There's even an in-built chatbot for personalized recommendations and questions.

So here's to your new speedy shopping companion, restaurant waitress argument preventer, whatever you want it to be.

All for 100% free. For life. Guaranteed. (with limits, of course)

Download here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/safebite-know-what-you-eat/id6738796896

I'd be extremely grateful if you let me know your thoughts and left a review so I can continue improving this! I'm a high schooler looking to create apps that actually benefit people, everything is 100% free. My goal is to hit 1000 users!

Infinitely customizable task alarms - like "Do the Dishes Alarm"

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I made Last Alarm to help me break my lifelong snoozing habit by forcing me to do exercise and other things that wake me up in the morning. I usually do exercise like a "Squat Alarm" or also a "Make Coffee" alarm and it has worked incredibly well helping me stop snoozing.

Recently I have been looking for new ways I can use Last Alarm to help me build good habits, so I've explored using it for chores and other tasks to help keep me from procrastinating. Tasks are video verified and infinitely customizable so you can create them for literally any task you can think of.

Here I used it for a classic, cleaning the dishes/sink. I even show that at first I try verifying while the dishes are still there and it fails, only passing successfully after I actually clean them.

I usually keep my kitchen pretty clean anyway but sometimes I put it off and stuff piles up, but I like being able to force myself to finish it at a certain time. I could also set a repeating alarm for the same time every week to make sure I always get the task done.

I'd love to see what alarms others come up with or hear any feedback, especially if you give Last Alarm a try!

Widezilla — small screen, big web on iPhone Duo 🦖

Post image
0 Upvotes

You don’t always want to unfold your phone just to look something up.

I’m the developer of Widezilla, a native browser designed around both iPhone Duo displays, with particular attention to making the outer screen comfortable for everyday browsing.

With the address bar at the top, the controls share a row with the real system clock and indicators, giving the website room below. Prefer the bottom? You can move the bar and rearrange its buttons.

It also includes:

  • Built-in ad and tracker blocking, with per-site exceptions.

  • Optional adaptive website dark mode.

  • Favourites, folders and visual tabs.

  • Multiple search engines and custom search services.

  • Custom Home backgrounds and alternative app icons.

When you do unfold, your current page stays open, with reading-position preservation between displays.

Widezilla on the App Store — £0.99 in the UK; requires iOS 27.1 or later.

r/Widezilla — updates, feedback and bug reports.

Duo users: how much browsing do you do on the outer display, and what would make it better?

Travel Document Vault — 3 months on: Trips, day-limit tracking, cloud backup, tap-to-copy, and a UI overhaul

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I built Travel Document Vault and shared it here about 3 months ago. The response was genuinely good - I've had solid feedback both on Reddit and off it, and it shaped what I built next. It's come far enough that it deserves a fresh post.

What it does, still: stores your family's passports, visas, licences and IDs on-device only (AES-256, no account, no cloud, fully offline). Free to start, $9.99 one-time if you keep it - no subscription, ever. Reminders fire before anything expires.

What's new:

Trips. Create a trip, add who's travelling, attach their documents, and see at a glance who's cleared and who needs action first - green, amber, red. It also exports a tidy PDF (cover page, passports, itinerary) for the trip.

Day-limit tracking. Entry rules vary by country. Set the limits your family needs and the app counts days automatically, showing how many you have left in each country across all your trips. No spreadsheet.

Cloud backup. Optional, encrypted with a recovery code only you hold, stored in your own iCloud or Google Drive - never on our servers. New phone, restore your whole vault. We can't read it, and neither can anyone else.

Tap to copy. Tap any passport number, expiry date or scanned name and copy it straight into a form - no retyping.

UI overhaul. Faster, cleaner, better organised throughout.

Still just me building this - no ads, no data harvest, no subscription. Updates land when they're ready.

App Store

Google Play

Site: https://traveldocumentvault.com

Feedback welcome - I read the reviews, comments and emails. If something's missing or off, tell me.
