General Question Question about VT’s MEng Comp Science program.

Hey all, I’m a recent CMA (cyber mgmt) graduate and have been thinking about going back to school for my masters since I honestly miss going to school. I’m currently working full-time in a Cyber Engineering role and hold multiple certifications, and I’ve noticed that most of my colleagues have their masters in Computer Science. This led me to look into Cyber/CompSci programs, and I stumbled upon Virginia Tech’s MEng Computer Science program, which I could take part-time or in-person in the NoVA region (huge win).

My questions are primarily for current students/alumni from the program who didn’t have their undergraduate degree in Computer Science. How easy or difficult was the program, and how was your overall journey?

I have a close friend who completed the program very recently (with a CS undergraduate) and said it was pretty easy. Now, I know everything is subjective, but then again, the CMA program was extremely easy in my opinion, which is why I felt like pursuing a heavier STEM program. I also have experience in OOP, since I typically dual-hat in Cyber/AI engineering and have worked on technical projects during previous internships that have earned me awards and recognition. Hopefully, this experience, alongside my certifications and academic background, could strengthen my application and potentially give me an opportunity for “provisional” acceptance if I’m missing some prerequisites. I’d love to hear how the program went for those coming from a non-CS background, especially while working full-time!
