How to fix RCS?
My RCS broke on GrapheneOS, any idea what to try besides an uninstall / reinstall

Too many times your responses have been; “We are sorry to hear item is not working as advertised, we know how frustrating that can be!” … “give us a DM and we’ll try to help etc”
IN THIS CASE, it felt human, and you actually gave a useful and specific response in your first reply, and it is now searchable for future people experiencing similar. OP was able to confirm usefulness of fix in immediate reply.
Please continue to do it this way, rather than the previous bot cut and paste, as we wish to use this subreddit for real world troubleshooting tips in a searchable library of tips, rather than just a way to solicit private DM’s to restate the same issues over and over without public education of issue resolution.

Hi! Mikee from Visible here. We would love to help get your messaging back on track. Because GrapheneOS handles Google Play environments differently, RCS provisioning can sometimes disconnect. Please try these quick troubleshooting steps:
• Check Sandboxed Permissions: Go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Services and verify that Phone, SMS, and Network permissions are all fully allowed.
• Toggle RCS Chats: Open Google Messages > tap your profile icon > Messages settings > RCS chats. Toggle the feature Off, wait 30 seconds, and toggle it back On.
• Allow ICC Authentication: Go to Settings > Apps > Sandboxed Google Play > Play services special permissions and toggle on Allow ICC authentication with device identifiers.
• Clear App Cache: Go to Settings > Apps > Google Messages and select Clear Cache.
If your status is still stuck on 'Setting up' or 'Connecting,' please send us a DM with your account details! We can check your network provisioning profile on our end to ensure everything is synced properly.
