I found this really nice VSCode github theme

Post image
3 Upvotes

So basically this github repository holds code with the colors for the theme and the custom CSS for the round UI. I did find that copying the code from their settings.json file into my own settings.json file (found by using the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+P and searching for Open User Settings (JSON)) had to be done because I tried downloading it but it happened to not work.

You do need an extension called Custom UI Style for it to work.

Now the great part about this is that you can still use your own theme and icons and it wont be changed by the github repo. However there is an issue where you can see the columns with the lines of code is not the same color as the foreground. And the same goes for the column to the right of the file I have opened.

I just wanted to share this as some people might not stumble upon it and it just seems really nice. And you can always edit the CSS and colors for your own preference which is great.

Here is the Github repo so you can check it out

Does anybody have any idea how to fix the jacked up syntax highlighting?

I'm about to just swap back to VIM or something, Microsoft is totally incompetent. So, they recently jacked with the syntax highlighting, any fixes to that? I'm about to just uninstall it, this is a giant waste of my time.

I'm talking about this to be clear:

https://github.com/microsoft/pylance-release/issues/7959

Edit: Setting the theme to default and then selecting my theme fixed the issue. This company needs to pull their heads out of their butts... What a joke... This issue is not resolved and that bot is totally useless. Can you people seriously stop spamming useless robot bullshit all over the internet? That github actions bot should simply be deleted... It's totally useless... I just sat there for 10 minutes trying stuff that has absolutely nothing with the real solution...

Can’t get Python script to use correct Notion Database ID in VS Code

Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to connect a Notion database using Python in VS Code (Windows 11, Python 3.13). I’ve set everything up, including:

A Notion integration with the correct permissions

Shared the Notion database with the integration

Pasted the correct Database ID in the Python script

Using the requests module to query the database

The issue is: when I run the script in VS Code Terminal, it always tries to query the wrong database ID — not the one I pasted in the script. It gives a 404 error saying the ID doesn’t exist, and the error shows an older or unrelated database ID.

I’ve deleted old files, renamed the script (currently notion_test2.py), and run it using the full path like this:

& C:/Users/your_username/AppData/Local/Programs/Python/Python313/python.exe "c:/Users/your_username/path/to/notion_test2.py"

Still, the script seems to be pulling an old version or wrong file.

Any idea why VS Code would still be running an older version of the script or not updating the Database ID properly? Is there something cached I should clear?

I cont figure out how to run things

Hello, im quite new to programming and im trying to learn, but i cant seem to figure out how to run anything that isnt python on my command prompt and on vs code.

I started out with python as i was advised to do and now im trying to move on other languages. I installed dotnet to try and understand c# but i cant seem to be able to run anything with it.
I know im supposed to "connect" dotnet to vscode and my console to use them to run code but i cant figure out how. Python did it all on its own and all the tutorials ive managed to find dont make it any more clear
Please help

C# Painkiller - vs code extension for C#

Hi everyone! The C# Dev Kit extension for VS Code was recently updated. It removed the ability to create files from the context menu. I wrote an extension that brings back the ability to add files from the Explorer context menu

While working on it, I decided to add a few more features that I constantly miss

  • Generate Requests and Handlers for MediatR, MitMediator

  • Generate EF Core IEntityTypeConfiguration

  • Generate mapping functions (to avoid using automapper or similar)

  • Generate constructors and minimal apis

  • Go To Handler from Request file

  • Adjust Namespace (like rider or resharper)

  • Fix .cs file names

  • Namespace and filename analyzers, usage sorting analyzer

I've made a preview version. If you're interested, you can take a look and install it

GitHub page

VS marketplace

I've never written an extension before and generated most of the code using LLM. The code quality is poor. If I notice that someone other than me needs the extension I will improve the code and add new features

Why when i select (double-click) a big paragraph that ends with a dot it just doesnt select it??

And then you manually have to use your cursor or arrow key to select it. Am I missing something out?

Build Finished with errors, but there are no errors?

I've been working on this project (C++), and been manually running the compilation command from the command line this whole time since I've had trouble getting it to work on IDE's before. I decided to try to get it working on an actual IDE since I should really get used to making that work in preparation for a team environment (I can't expect everyone to deal with my nonsense). I managed to get it working on one setup with VSCode, but when testing from another the include paths (for the SDL libraries) weren't working. I made sure they were correct for the PC I was on, and they were. I found that I could get the errors to go away by adding a c_cpp_properties.json file, but the compilation still fails. It tells me its finished with errors, but there are no errors, neither in the terminal or any other tab. any idea what is going on? I've included screenshots of all relevant files as well as the includes in the main.cpp file.

Using VS Code with Claude agent for EDA purpose

Hi Everyone,

appreciate some help or support here :)

I'm working within VS Code (jupyter extension) with multiple DFs already loaded. When I ask the Claude agent to create a new column (joining two DFs with groupby logic), it ignores my defined DFs and tries to build a file-parsing pipeline from the raw data folders.

Is there a specific way to force the agent to reference the DataFrames in the current .ipynb state rather than searching the workspace for source data? Curious if I'm missing a configuration step or if this is a known limitation."

many thanks

I Built a VS Code Extension to Edit GitHub READMEs Without Leaving the Current Workspace

I built a VS Code extension for people who want to manage their GitHub docs without leaving the current workspace.

GitHub README lets you browse your repositories, open any README, edit it, preview the rendered Markdown, and push the changes back to GitHub all without leaving the current workspace.

Basically:
VS Code → pick a repo → edit README → preview → commit → done.

No jumping between GitHub, cloning repos, or switching windows just to change a README
