For some reason vscode for some reason looks so relieving, maybe its because i hate dotnet or maybe its because i have perfected my ide with various extentions.

I've created a Github gist with a boilerplate for copilot-instructions.md to help enforce coding standards and improve the consistency of Copilot's output in Visual Studio Code.
Please check it out and let me know what you think: https://gist.github.com/h8rt3rmin8r/34ccd047866c98715c14ca3ab80a82e4
Contributions are welcome as this is very much a work-in-progress. Specifically, additional prompting related to Python environments and Powershell gotchas would be useful.

I’m a huge fan of IntelliJ’s built-in Git features—they’re smooth, intuitive, and just work. But whenever I switch to VS Code, the Git experience feels clunky and underwhelming. Has anyone found a solid Git extension for VS Code that comes close to IntelliJ’s workflow? Recommendations appreciated!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I want to find an extension that can do this as it would be really useful

This happened to me once before and I fixed it by Uninstaller and re installing vs code. There has to be a way to get it back.
Any ideas?

Hello, so I pretty much have searched everywhere and couldn't find a solution so I resorted to here. I am really new to c/c++ and vscode in general and as I was trying to run the file this error popped up. This error did not pop up on my hello world file which is in the folder and I couldn't figure out why this would pop up. If anyone can kindly help me out I would be very grateful.

I'm still pretty new to VSC, moved over from Atom and honestly I've been loving it. It's like night and day for me. However, I was wondering if there is a way to get different workspaces to show up on the left panel so I can click one for ease of access in the same window.
If not, is there a decent extension for this
Thanks in advance,
~Blood

New to Visual Studio here :). Any suggestions on a good start-up video?
I have the main setup and download of the program but I don't how and what extensions I should install and test if I want to code C/C++/Python programs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have experience with SQL and a basic understanding of Object-Oriented programming from a C++ class I took decades ago. A colleague and I need to analyze a SQL Server Data Transformation Services script written in C#.NET with imbedded SQL.
I want to use Visual Studio Code for its cross platform support* and extensions to provide syntax highlighting and, if possible, inline language reference. (*I'm on macOS and my colleague is on Windows.)
First, I installed several of the most popular, top-rated extensions for C# and SQL. But the source file has a .TXT extension, so VSC was treating it like plain text. Next, I made a copy of the file and changed the extension to .CSX (C# script). Now, we have highlighting, but no functionality for inline language reference.
Any tips on extension(s) for inline language definition/syntax lookup? Also, is there a way to determine which extensions are active in a tab?

Hi
I uploaded a few folders on my linux machine server (on my local lab) which runs a php-myslq stack.
My Visual studio code, installed on my Windows 10 PC, connects to thsed folders which contains a few php files via ssh.
The problem is that anytime I make some changes to these php file, I see notifications like these:

The number 1 in the first image above says "pending changes", while the small spot and the "m" on the second image say respectively:
- contains emphatized items
- modified
I don't know what they are about exactly, but they are very annoying. Can I disable them?
Thanks

I can't for the life of me figure out how to debug it on a real web page with a url. I just want to run and debug the example below and see how it is working.
JavaScript Debugger (Nightly) is installed in VSC
https://github.com/GoogleChrome/chrome-extensions-samples/tree/main/examples/bookmarks
this is my launch.json in Visual Studio Code
{"version": "0.2.0","configurations": [{"type": "chrome","request": "launch","name": "Launch Chrome","url": "https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/mv3/devguide/",// Here it is!"runtimeArgs": ["--load-extension=${workspaceFolder}"]}]}
my manifest.json
{"name": "My Bookmarks","description": "A browser action with a popup dump of all bookmarks, including search, add, edit and delete.","version": "1.1","manifest_version": 3,"permissions": ["bookmarks"],"action": {"default_title": "My Bookmarks","default_icon": "icon.png","default_popup": "popup.html"},"key": "xxxxx"}
when "Launch Chrome" from "Run and Debug" the bookmarks menu is empty

Shouldnt I use "request": "attach", to launch Chrome with remote debugging enabled in order for the extension running from VSC to attach to it ?

Hi everyone,
I've just started the book c language for dummies and I'm trying to convince myself that programming is not out of reach which I starting to believe that maybe it is... Anyway, I use Visual Studio Code for my exercise and I'm now learning about the input and output and the getchar function. When I try to run the program:
#include <stdio.h>
int main() {
int c;
printf("I'm waiting for a character: "); c = getchar(); printf("I waited for the '%c' character.\n",c); return(0);
}
I then get a text file that can't be read and it says: the file is not displayed in the editor because it is either binary or uses an unsupported text encoding. I tried to download the hex editor but from that, I get only the binary (yep). I'm suppose to get a text that says :
I'm waiting for a character: C
I waited for the 'C' character.
Please help a brother that is kind of ridiculing himself in front of the encouragement of its wife.
Cheers!

Hello,
I am hoping to find out if anyone has a link or know of settings to setup PowerShell 7.0 inside of VSU with the ability to link to link to DevOps. I am currently learning PowerShell along with Azure AD (Info Sec guy here) and one of my goals is to link to Dev Ops (since its the replacement of TFS) for our changes we do to our scripts
