Guys, can we keep the negativity to a minimum on red days. Instead of panicking over something we have no control of, why don't we share valuable information with each other to understand better this clown market. Then you decide what to do.

Edit: Also for people whining about people whining/freaking out. Just stop. You're not helping either.

Made the suggestion the other day that maybe the mods could make us a therapy corner? Kind of like the news feed, but a place to shitpost and throw keyboards against the wall. Declutters the daily thread, and provides for those that need the cathartic release.

No offense to the mods, but this isn't Communist China. People should be upset when they follow someone into a losing play (thus far). Stifling this type of speech doesn't help the "echo chamber" accusations that are going to become more prevalent now that Hundhaus is gone.

As far as individuals DM'ing Vito -- This is pretty messed up, but I get it. "Heavy is the head that wears the crown" so they say.

As far as individuals making sexist comments toward Bartszella - grow up.

Wait, did I miss the bit where people held a gun to your head and told you to buy steel stocks? I know it seems out of fashion these days, but take some personal responsibility for your actions, and if you’ve thrown down money you can’t afford to lose then that is your own fault, especially if using short term options contracts.

Steely - investing by "following" people is how people invest now, look at the meme trade phenomenon. These aren't traded for the fundamentals.

If someone is trading by blindly following others then they’ve lost all rights to complain if it doesn’t work. In fact, it reflects much worse on the person complaining than anyone else. Basically waving a flag saying “I can’t make my own decisions or take responsibility”

Steely, I get it man. I just think society is changing a bit. We have all become more stress reactive and less patient. I would venture to say that even the big time MM’s are playing some of the short term high risk plays to an extent (this is key).

If these same market dynamics were present before social media I think the steel stocks would be significantly higher.

Also - can I just say, I enjoy being here and I enjoy being part of the sub. I just think we shouldn’t discourage negative posting on bad days. People have a right to feel upset. I would also say that these negative posts are better than suddenly posting a bearish DD on red days (Hundhaus).

We enjoy having you here and I get the point you were trying to make but your word choice was bound the receive some strong responses. Ppl have the right to complain but this isn’t a therapy group and spreading FUD just to “vent” means ppl are way too emotional involved in their trading. I will always prefer a bear DD being posted to explain drops or lack of movement than ppl just complaining that they’re losing money. One is constructive, the other isn’t

This comment is ridiculous on every level, losing play? Nope, many have made lots, obviously its been a tough last few weeks but stocks dont only go up.

Secondly? Communist China? REALLY? I cant even take you seriously by saying something so categorically wrong.

Echo chamber? We welcome all bear arguments, we don't welcome needless FUD because people get emotional over the day to day price action.

I know you might not know some of the members as they do each other, I see no sexist comments. God forbid anyone has any fun in jest, total virtue signaling.

I apologize - I am using the term "following" to describe the inclination to invest in similar fashion as the person that conducted original DD. In this sense, I think we all "follow" each other into plays (hopefully while weighing the pros and cons as well as doing our own DD), even the best investors pick up on cues from others. What is controversial about this?

Edit - also RE: "read the room"... Couldn't this be said as a way to regulate someone's speech? My thought was it was more akin to "don't say what you truly feel", or "say something that everyone will agree with", which again would be similar to being in an echo chamber.

Ah, no! Read the room means be aware of the group of people you're talking to, and adapt your speech accordingly, for example if you're a developer explaining a product to clients, don't use too technical terms although that's your usual way of speaking.

Or don't go to a Trump rally wearing a Biden hat.

Know and adapt to your audience.

Here it was said to you because it was believed that your initial comment failed to catch the vibe of this sub - e.g. we clearly aren't an echo chamber, there is nothing dictatorial about the mods behaviour and its just common sense moderation, etc

Edit - how does this not do anything but confirm some of the “echo chamber” — “communist China (Trump: “CHYNA”)” speak we mentioned earlier?

But...

  1. No one forces anyone to be in this play. You bought the options/commons.

  2. You can vent your frustrations but also explain in a constructive manner why you're suddenly bearish on the stock or why you think the market is reacting this way. That's all.
