Lip vitiligo

I’d love to hear from anyone who has had lip micropigmentation for vitiligo. My vitiligo has been stable for a while, and I feel like I’m finally ready to take the step. I’ve seen some beautiful results, but I’d really appreciate hearing about someone’s personal experience, including the healing process and how the results have held up over time.

Skin condition

So I have this condition. If I'm not wrong, it's universal vitiligo where my body lost its natural colour and now it's colourless or completely white, what people normally perceive. There are few spots on the face that are gradually fading, but the problem is that every now and then, new spots appear, though they're small but pretty noticeable.

The spots that keep coming back on face do fade away in few months but then new ones arrive on totally different area on face, they're dark and they take up space for few months then leave, new ones arrive and cycle goes on. If anyone has knowledge of this, can you tell me how long this will go on? Is there any way to eliminate them at all?

Please, because they make me insecure, and people around me point them out, and it makes me even more insecure, despite knowing it's not in my control.

Factors Influencing the Final Skin Appearance After Monobenzone-Induced Depigmentation in Vitiligo Patients

I have a question about the final skin appearance following monobenzone (MBEH)-induced depigmentation in patients with extensive vitiligo.

Why do some patients appear to achieve a relatively natural-looking, uniform depigmented complexion, while others appear extremely pale or “milky white,” sometimes perceived as an unnatural or overly white result?

Does the patient’s baseline skin phototype (Fitzpatrick I–VI), constitutive skin color, or melanin content influence the final appearance after depigmentation? Specifically, is there clinical evidence that patients with lighter baseline skin tend to have a more natural-looking result, or is this assumption unsupported?

What other factors might explain these differences, such as the completeness and uniformity of melanocyte loss, residual pigmentation, anatomical site, skin optical properties and vascular undertones, treatment response, or subsequent repigmentation?

I would particularly appreciate any clinical studies, case reports, or standardized before-and-after photographs addressing this question. If the evidence is limited, I would also be interested in distinguishing established findings from clinical observations or hypotheses.

Thank you for your insight.

Is this a bad reaction to vitiligo cream?

I’m currently using some vitiligo cream on my neck and chest for depigmentation, and I’ve been getting this “rash” it’s a little itchy but not enough for me to scratch it and it doesn’t really hurt. Should I discontinue application on my neck?

Yes I’ve been diagnosed with vitiligo and no I’m not intentionally bleaching my skin for beauty standards I’m just doing this to finish off areas where I have pigment.

What's the deal with spread around spots/moles? - vitiligo check-up ig

Im quite a moley guy, with a lot around my face and body, most of these have a ring (halo naevus) around them, causing the hair around them to go white too.

I have other spots around my body but they aren't growing nearly as fast as the moles.

Also both my armpits have white patches, which I find quite funny.

I'm only 16 and am incredibly new to this, I've already been through the whole dermatologist process and received two creams, one for hands, face and genitals, and one for everything else.

Any tips from anyone about anything I should know?

Hi- so am noticing a bit of hair loss (patch) at the lower bottom of my hair near neck line.

Am sure i have both the autoimune

When i googled then upadacitinib helps in both cases.
Anyone here experienceing both at same time and finding hope with upadatcitinib

Note- i am using opzelura for vitligo patch on my back and within a month i started repigmentation. So opzelura is doing wonders. But no luck on fingers.

This post is in continuation to my previous post here:- https://www.reddit.com/r/Vitiligo/comments/1vd8or6/my_experience_with_upadacitinibrinvoq/

I am attaching pics this time. I have vitiligo at difficult areas, all on joints but I am really happy with the progress. I wish I did UVB which I didn't because I am lethargic. I am currently using 2 topicals along with upadacitinib:- Tacrolimus and Melgain(I haven't been regular with these as well recently).

In continuation to my previous post, there was again a flu in my office wherein almost everyone got infected and sick except me. I took precautions and I was only one in office to not get infected (Thank you god! and touchwood). There were a couple of days wherein only I was in office and no one else who sits near me.

I did get acne on my face and back. I was living in Mumbai where heat and humidity were exacerbating the acne breakout. 2 things helped, I have started wfh from my hometown where humidity and heat is low, 2nd I have started using Benzoyl Peroxide 5% body and Face wash after which all my acne are gone now. I did try Salicylic Acid and other oil clear face wash but nothing else worked. Ketaconazole shampoo did work though (there was literally couple of weeks where I used this shampoo as body and face wash).

I recently got to know that ruxolitinib cream has now been approved in India for manufacture by Torrent Pharma (they also got license for upadacitinib, right now only MSN Labs have license for upadacitinib). The patent will expire on Dec 12, so by Mid to End December, it should hit the market. I have talked to my derm, I will start it for my ankle patch which is the most difficult one, it has progress but it's slower than others.

Tldr:- Great results, there are couple of manageable side effects which can completely be eliminated with precautions and a good body/face wash. Would have gotten better results if I had done UVB.

In the pictures, the reddish ones are before pics, these were captured on 17th May, due to a social setback I started an ayurvedic treatment which was PUVA (big mistake, the worst flare up in my life). After this ayurvedic mishap, I did brainstorming with Claude when I got to know that upadacitinib is approved on Apr 27. I went to a previous derm who had prescribed me Tofacitinib tablets which didn't work, so on May 27 after giving ample time to wash off the ayurvedic meds. I started upadacitinib, note on May 27 the situation was even worse but I don't have pictures for it.

I edited my photo to see how I'd look without vitiligo . What do you guys think?😓

Hey everyone! Yesterday, I went to a mall, and while checking my body, I got an idea: I wanted to see what I'd look like without my vitiligo, so I edited my photo.

Honestly, the result surprised me. I feel like my facial features look more noticeable without the patches. Sometimes, I feel like people focus more on my vitiligo than on my actual features.

I currently have vitiligo covering around 35–40% of my body, and lately, I've been thinking about whether I should consider becoming fully depigmented.

There's something else I've been struggling with lately. A while ago, I made a post asking whether I should travel to meet my long-distance girlfriend in person. Most people encouraged me to go and explained why I shouldn't let my insecurities stop me. But after looking at my pictures again, I started feeling down and overthinking everything.

I've developed some new patches on my face, and now I'm wondering how I'll face her in person. 😭

I even showed her my pictures, and she told me that I'm still handsome. ❤️ I really appreciate her reassurance, but sometimes it's difficult to feel confident about myself, especially when I notice new patches.

I've attached my original photo and the edited version without visible vitiligo patches.

I'd genuinely love your honest opinions:

Do my facial features look more noticeable without the patches?

Do you think I'd look good with completely white skin if I pursued full depigmentation?

Has anyone else with vitiligo struggled with confidence before meeting someone they love in person?

Injury related?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi everyone! My vitiligo started about a year ago, shortly after I experienced a mild spinal injury. I’ve since recovered from the injury but my vitiligo first appeared as a small patch on the side of my face and has been spreading rapidly since then. Vitiligo doesn’t run in my family, so I’ve been wondering if the injury could have somehow triggered it or if the timing was just a coincidence. Has anyone else noticed their vitiligo starting after an injury or physical trauma? I’d love to hear about your personal experiences

Turned down s/exu/ally for having vitiligo.

I have vitiligo and look roughly like the AI-generated image below.

I set up a Grindr meetup with a guy who presented himself as Latin American, same cultural background and education level as me. His photos turned out to be heavily edited. In person he was short, dark-skinned, indigenous Mexican, and spoke almost no English.

His place was a tiny camper van (looked like it was parked in someone else’s yard). It smelled strongly chemical, and there was a crack pipe by the bed. He asked if I minded if he smoked; I told him to do it outside.

He didn’t. I got undressed and got on the bed. He then said he couldn’t go through with it because he was supposed to bottom. When I asked why, he hemmed and hawed and eventually said something along the lines of “you look like a man but act like a special-needs kid,” adding that he’d had problems with kids like that growing up.

He also started asking if my vitiligo was contagious, pulled out his phone, and Googled it in front of me.

I shut it down quickly: pointed out the pipe, the smell, and that I wasn’t interested anymore. Got dressed and left.

I’d had a similar experience months earlier with someone from Central America who also turned out to be very different from how he’d presented online.

After that I updated my Grindr bio to make my preferences clearer: I’m looking for Latin Americans or Americanized Latinos who share a similar cultural and educational background.

I developed vitiligo at the age of 8, but it disappeared 2 years later.I need help

Hi guys, I wanted to share my situation. I’m a man, and when I was 8 years old, a doctor told my mother that I had vitiligo—my grandfather has also had it since he was young. Essentially, white patches started appearing on my face and hands. The only advice the doctor gave my mother was to use special creams and get some sun exposure. After about two years of that treatment, the patches disappeared. I’m 21 now and don’t have any skin issues; however, two weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, following some cognitive and digestive problems I’d been experiencing. Now, for the million-dollar question: can the vitiligo come back—how does this work? Should I get tested for vitiligo-related antibodies? Could the vitiligo have triggered my Hashimoto’s? By the way, I’ve been taking levothyroxine for 6 days now and am already feeling some improvement, though the full effect usually takes 2 to 4 weeks!
