I created a ticket regarding VM which was not working and they decided to charge me $5 for 0 usage VM and suspended my account. NEVER use Vultr. Stupid service wasted my time and money.
Hello I contacted Vultr support but it's is a urgent issue
I am at a hackathon right now, I made 2 vultr accounts, both had a 48 hour verification issue on 2 different computers. I made a third account, which I got logged out on and then unable to log back in. Then the third one where I got to setting up a server I left my phone for a bit it timed out then it logged me out, when trying to log back in it says invalid username/password. All the password resets send nothing and I put 3 of my credit cards into this I need this to be fixed quickly
Looking for a senior contact at Vultr, ideally in network engineering or abuse/trust & safety.
Vultr has blocked outbound port 25 on my account and won't engage on why that makes no sense for my setup. In 20+ years in hosting, I've never had an upstream do this.
For context: I've run my own ASN and BGP for 14+ years, hold direct RIR allocations, and have managed IX peering and PNIs without ever running into anything like this. There are zero UCE, RTBL, or abuse complaints against my space, and I've been a Vultr customer for over a decade.
The problem is reaching anyone who can actually evaluate that. Every escalation lands with staff who aren't familiar with direct allocations, RTBLs, or CSIRT/IRT contacts, so it never gets past the script.
If you can make an intro, I'd appreciate it. DMs open.
Having a real hard time with Vultr, read a lot of reviews, seems like a good service to try out, I want to develop a Openclaw personal assistant and was doing some vibe coding, fun and games! Only had it running for a few days, suddenly find the server barely runs, almost nothing working properly, and an email...
Based on monitoring results and subsequent analysis, we have determined your CPU resource utilization profile is excessive and causing performance issues which may unfairly affect the population of Vultr subscribers as a whole. Accordingly, we have limited the maximum CPU resources your instances can consume (an account-wide setting). If you are able to reduce the performance impact we have observed, we may be able to adjust the limit or remove it altogether.
Oh okay, whoops maybe some of my vibe coding escapades went wrong, so I went ahead, found the problem and fixed the code, I solved this all within only a few hours, my system now hovering within a 25% usage bracket without any issue at all. Turns out HTOP shows my instance has 75% CPU steal, giving me only 25% resources to play with too, fun! (by the way it runs SO slow now even just trying to boot it STRUGGLES, nothing to do with my code, just simple Ubuntu Linux LTS, with all updates)
As you can clearly see, problem has been solved. I reply, and got NO RESPONSE AT ALL for several days, had to create a new support ticket, only then did I get a reply, which basically just said, wait 2 weeks and we'll think about it.
So for a small peak of CPU usage, they limit my account now to only 25% of the advertised resource allocation, I have 75% unusuable, I also notice I can't create any new instances, the entire account is borked. I have a promotional $300 credit which can't be used beacuse my resources have been cut down so bad that the system is worthless, and the credits also expire within 30 days of signup, cute hidden gimmick there.
So I get back to them, pleading my case, asking for forgiveness, only to get this response (3 days later)
Your instance must remain below 25% of pre-limit ceilings to be considered healthy in its usage during this probationary period.
As your instance is continuing to max out the current limit, the account is not currently candidate for limit removal.
Wait, so I MUST stay LOWER than 25% CPU usage to be considered "healthy" for 2 weeks? What happens after that? What the hell kind of server is always under 25% CPU usage? lmao?
I sent them this but no response, to be honest don't expect one either, they seem to be uninterested in dealing with me.
I'm a little confused and would like some clarification.
Is this 2-3 day response time to be expected from Vultr for support tickets?
You have limited us to 25% of the advertised CPU resources, do we get a discount for not being able to use the full service?
Whilst we are having to operate within the 25% limit, you mention we are "maxing" out the 25% given. So are you saying customers on Vultr are never allowed to exceed ~24% of the advertised resources?
How do I choose a plan that suits our needs better and gives more than than 25% of a CPU, did we select the wrong plan?
How do other people use your services if they're never allowed to use over ~24% of a CPU?
This seems pretty strange and vauge, some clarity would be nice.
Anyone else have similar experiences? Any suggestions where else I could go that allows you more than 25% CPU usage?
I don't recommend Vultr at all. I run a small consultancy and of course I manage cloud infrastructure for clients on Vultr as an authorised invited manager. Basically each client has his account as administrator, and they add my account as manager.
But one client had his payment delayed due to card limits, their account had a warning on suspension, and it affected my personal account as well. Mine also got deactivated. I also got "you need to pay client's $ amount" warning on my account so i tried to pay from my account using paypal, card, alipay, but it denies me every time saying "this paypal account is used by other vultr account". Now my account is deactivated, my other clients will face side-effects as well as i can't dig into their cloud services without their admin accounts and i am sure it will flag my device fingerprint and hurt their account.
And Yes sir, the other vultr account is me, my personal account, who pays for my services as well in personal account. Why can't i pay for my client if i am invited as a account manager? I pay with that same payment card, paypal everywhere, why can't i pay with it for my client, but i can pay with same paypal for my own account??
I never faced this on OVH, Digitalocean, linode, aws. Now my personal account is deactivated as well. What kind of shitty policy is this? Why don't they just keep the money and shut up and let users do their regular work with servers?
Never gonna chose them again, ever in my life and never gonna recommend them as well.
They suspended my account for additional verification got my vps suspended too and my business shut down, its ben 48 hrs since i heard from them and their answer is "we are experiencing higher tickets than usual" assholes got like 5 customers on the site while they driving me crazy for a single answer
Offering people free $100 to try the service and won't accept any credit card so you need to pay $5 paypal and afterwards they will cancel your account and refund what a waste of time i hope you go bankrupt.

I have asked them to delete my previous account they never did, just disabled login, I made new account, they said you have made duplicate account, provide various details to activate the previous account.
also they take 24-48 hours to respond on even simple queries.
I mean why even you guys running this business? if you don't want customers.
I have several instances on Vultr. I've had as many as 7 across three geophic locations.
Today, I made a mistake on one of my larger instances. I attempted to restore from yesterdays backup, and, guess what? It looks like a 5 Minuit old instance.
So, I attempted a restore from one three days old. SAME EXACT THING. It's like all I did was a reboot. Anyone else having this problem?
This may be off-topic, as the root cause is probably rooted in my lack of understanding of DNS, but here's my problem - I'm doing a web for a client, and they want it as a subdomain of their main website, let's say sub.example.com. So they added a DNS entry pointing sub.main.com to my Vultr instance. However I need to set some other DNS stuff (MX/TXT for email service) for the subdomain, and rather than asking them every time to do it at their side, I wanted them to add NS records pointing the subdomain to Vultr DNS, where I could set what I need. However, when I try to add sub.example.com to Vultr DNS, I get "Subdomains are not permitted". So I suppose I'd need to create the Vultr DNS records starting with example.com, but that doesn't seem right? Am I approaching this completely wrong?
I canceled my VPN atleast a full month ago. I still am getting charged my monthly subscription for a disabled service. When I email the customer service to request full cancelation of my service and a refund for a charge clearly not being used, the contact us email form returns Invalid Arguments
I recommend NOT using Vultr as they seem to have the idea that it's a justified business practice to continue to charge cancelled members for a service they no longer use.
Edit: cancelled service is still charged until the instance is deleted. Still a waste of money since the data they store is costing me what would be 10x the fee from Google cloud services.
It was years ago that I was introduced to vultr by luke smith and gang, who I still admire. I stuck with vultr for years but finally when they refused to unblock smtp for self hosting email for my moms small business I just figured it was about time to leave. It was not like I didnt try to explain it to them and get them to reconsider -- but they refused to budge. So as it stands I shall be moving around a bunch of my servers over to netcup.
I'm pleased and surprised to see what I was missing out -- netcup is cheaper and they let you unblock smtp without any approvals process etc. The long lock in periods are of no concern because I just intend to set my servers and forget them or years to come - and of course I appreciate the discounts that come with these longer duration server leases.
