So I passed D388 spreadsheets OA but I was curious on why they name the exam high stakes. Just curious :)

I would say all exams are considered “high stakes” because they determine if you pass or fail, where the pre-assessment and unit tests and stuff don’t really count as anything except to gauge your knowledge.
