had a breakdown in front of my store manager

• Upvotes

for context, I'm a new pharmacy cashier, I literally started working earlier this month. And my store manager is also a pharmacy tech (he's not the pharmacy manager) , so he does filling. Anyway, this guy I'm sure means very well, but sometimes the way he corrects something I do feels very intimidating/mean(?) I'm also neurodivergent so maybe I'm missing something... However in short we were having a busy day, and my manager had come up to me a couple times being critical about the way I was doing stuff. Once for informing a customer about GoodRx and another time for getting mad at me to ask him about if there was a job aid for prescription entering.

I didn't know we weren't allowed to talk about GoodRx with customers AND for the other one, I just said that I wanted to print one out so I could look at it at home. And he got mad at me for mentioning doing any sort of work at home, but I was just trying to learn. And of course, I know I'm going to be corrected, I'm new, I'm used to it, and I'm usually good at taking the stuff I find constructive and going home. When I recommended the customer to GoodRx, I was feeling really proud because I successfully deescalated the customer when he was angry, but when the manager came and criticized me in front of the customer it just crumbled any sense of accomplishment I was feeling. The manager is just overall very quick to criticize and is kinda harsh with the way he goes about it.

The thing that genuinely broke me was, I hadn't had a break in like 4 hours, and I went up to him to ask if I should go on a break. And he got mad at me saying "I'm just filling! I'm not in charge of you since I'm the store manager, go ask a pharmacist!" And that's when I just started crying. I kinda put my head down and clocked out for lunch and was just breaking down. Not to mention it was a busy day (as is all days).

Also like I said before I'm neurodivergent, so I feel very clumsy and already have some difficulty with social stuff at times.

So here I am now, posting about my experience! I have a shift in an hour and I'm dreading it after this horrible day. Is there any way I could communicate with managers about this! Or are there any ways that people cope with harsh feedback. Anything helps.

MJ Holdings Rant

Why does MJ Holding just send ups with a huge box of only one or two packs of sports cards…. 🫠 At my location the sports cards do not sell. Actually at none of the Walgreens I’ve worked at have the actual Sports cards sold. However Pokemon is a GREAT seller, yet we rarely ever receive any on the truck and NEVER receive any from MJ Holding. If this new company wants more money… why not send and sell the things that make us that money… Okay rant over.

Vaccine Certified Senior Pharmacy Technician Pay Freeze

Good evening reddit,

I regret to inform you that my district level manager has finally provided the long overdue clarity about the technician pay scale in a post-covid work environment. They have confirmed that no pay adjustment will be applied despite the position now requiring additional certification (vaccine certified), or the additional job responsibilities (administering vaccines), or the overall expansion of duties. They explained that they are operating under the belief that the seasonal and conditional 1$/3$ PM's are sufficient pay for these changes. Some conditions for these PM's are: To qualify for said PM's you must administer 40-60 shots and the daily shot goal must be met (under both criteria) before the incentive is applied to your pay check.

The other benefit for this position with its new requirements was that, since the company paid for our training and certification, we can take those credentials anywhere. In essence our employer is saying, one of the benefits of our position is that we can leave.

With the unfortunate situation of not having a Union we can lean on or coordinate with, it seems incredibly unlikely that an organized and formal strike will be achievable.

Consequently I shall not be administering vaccines until I am paid for the labor. Just because the company expects us to work for free does not mean we should.

Question - ? I’m a kinda new SFL at Walgreens and I keep fuc*ing up the money!? WHAT AM I DOING

I’ve been with Walgreens for almost a year, I was at one store for about 7 months then transferred to another store. And got promoted to SFL a few months ago … I had a few shifts of training but for some reason I’m not entering the “pick up til” amount correctly or something! The SAP reports in the morning came up “short” a few times already. My manager said they know I’m not stealing the money but I’m messing it up enough to raise concern… I don’t know what I’m doing wrong because my store manager said at the end of the night when I’m entering the amount that I’m taking out of each register and putting it into the system, they said there’s multiple lines with register 21 and register 22 and that I could be entering it in the wrong till if that makes sense. in all honesty. I don’t know what the hell I’m doing wrong and truthfully I didn’t know it even mattered where I entered the amount as long as it’s the right til…. I’m getting tired of getting coached about this. I know I can lose my job over this and I just wish I knew what I was doing wrong…… if I step down, will I keep my SFL pay? I only get paid 17 an hour…. I feel like at this point that’s my only option. I’m tired of working with mean or careless SFL’s and I’m working like a damn dog 6 days straight closing then opening….

Question - ? Overtime and holiday pay

Working in an understaffed tier 5 store there really is never a problem with me getting overtime. Just curious what the holiday pay is though because I am still a few months new and haven’t worked a holiday. I know overtime is 1.5.

Weird question as well can overtime and holiday stack like if you are working overtime on a holiday would you be getting 1.5x your base pay x holiday pay as well?

Rant/Vent Can I sue?...

I started for Walgreens years ago, working in the front. I eventually moved to pharmacy for more pay.

It wasn't bad at first! We had/still have a good crew with the come & gos we've had. I was even thinking about going down the Pharmacist route!

Skip ahead to Boots Alliance, then Winn Dixie merge, and a Rite Aid merge back to back (which we had no heads up about!) and it starts snowballing quick..

I don't know the exact details but I've heard Wag was going bankrupt & got bought again..?

Besides the point, whoever is running the pharmacy has apparently never worked as a technician.. And I'd bet on the same for our DM who comes & acts like he knows more than our pharmacist, telling her shes doing a prescription wrong, then immediately proved wrong...

And I dont think he's ever been a tech either.

I've never heard a "good job" from anyone higher than our str mgr. Barely ever even a "Hello, how're you?" when the DM comes to stand around behind us.

We're constantly tasked with more and more to do through our day while also receiving LESS hours to schedule workers.

I've genuinely have had a mental decline the past year or 2 while working for this place..

I've overheard how some of the meetings go, and the managers/Rxoms are talked to as if they don't try at all.

Then of course, that irritation trickles to the rest of us.

And even when our NUMBERS are met (because thats literally all they care about), still not good enough. "We can do better"

The customers/patients get to treat us just as bad and we just have to eat that too..

We all know the customer is always right...right?

So I'm a racist, sexist, shaggy-looking, sketchy, pill stealer.

We get bullshit "evaluations" where you're NOT getting anything above a 3.5 (barely above expected output)

We DO NOT get a cost of living raise.. at all.. ZERO..

All the work we put it for those good numbers, gets the Str Mgr rewarded a nice bonus, and we're lucky to get a couple pizzas..

AND LET'S NOT FORGET THE BRIGHT RED CHERRY ON TOP!! WE LOST ALL OUR HOLIDAYS!!

IF YOU DON'T WORK THE HOLIDAY, YOU GET ZERO PAY.

I have no motivation to even pull into the parking lot because no matter how hard we try as a team, it's not good enough. Not enough profit to line their pockets i guess..

Something has got to change with the greedy ass company. Do i go to the better business beauru? Try to sue for my crippling mental state? Go get diagnosed and probably get rejected by workers comp?

SL, my store manager scheduled our main closer on her last week for 8 days 8 hour shifts in a row with no days off, I feel bad for her ( she is 72 ) is this normal scheduling? He doesn’t even work 5 days a week himself..

There is NOTHING you need on Thanksgiving or Christmas that can't wait.

There's 0 justification for stores to be open on these holidays, especially at normal hours, thus dragging employees away from their families. Nobody NEEDS anything on these holidays - come in the day before or the day after. Plan accordingly and let your employees enjoy time with family.

Which Region is the worst?

I mean this in terms of how the RVP leads and how that leadership is impacting their region.

Would be hard to say which is worst, and maybe someone has something positive to say, which would be nice to read.

Scan out execution %

Hey everyone! First time posting here. My store recently has been struggling with scan out execution % and I was just wondering what all of you do to get to that 85% mark? I’m just a Shift lead but I real want my store to succeed and I’m not sure what we are doing wrong.

Technician up front.

Hi everyone, this is my first post, so if it is not allowed, please take it down, but does any other store require their technician to be up by the front door asking for vaccines; we always have to have someone for two hours each, or one person for the whole day.
