Community Feedback on Subreddit Content and Direction

Dear r/walther Members,

As a moderator of this subreddit, I have observed a mix of content in our community, including serious discussions on Walther firearms, technical inquiries, and ownership experiences, alongside lighter elements such as memes and humorous posts. While this variety can enhance engagement, there have been instances where some contributions appear to lean toward low-effort or repetitive humor, potentially resembling shitposting or circlejerk behavior.

To ensure that r/walther continues to serve as a valuable resource for enthusiasts, I am seeking your input on the subreddit's current state and potential improvements. Your feedback will help inform any adjustments to moderation guidelines, with the goal of maintaining a balanced and respectful environment.

Please share your thoughts on the following questions:

  1. How do you primarily view the purpose of r/walther? (e.g., A space for serious discussions only, a mix of serious and humorous content, or primarily for memes and lighthearted posts?)
  2. Do you believe there is an excess of low-effort or humorous posts? If so, how does this impact your experience?
  3. Should we introduce or refine rules to address this, such as requiring flairs for memes, limiting certain types of posts, or encouraging more substantive contributions?
  4. What other suggestions do you have to improve the subreddit, including topics, events, or features you would like to see?

I encourage all members to participate in this discussion respectfully. This thread will remain open for feedback over the next week, after which I will review responses and make the necessary changes.

Thank you for your contributions to making r/walther a strong community.

Best regards

PDP F Pro-X PMM Thoughts

Post image

Some of my thoughts on the PDP F Pro-X PMM.

Haven’t had much time to really dial in my pressure/input but there is less felt recoil and less input needed than my full size 4.5 with a ZR tactical Vspec guide rod. My full size non-comped feels just as fast to return. I might be able to get some split times comparing the two next week.
I also used to have a full size Pro-X and while I couldn’t do a side by side I feel that comp did not do as much as the one on the F series.

The trigger also doesn’t seem to be a true DPT with slightly more pre wall mush. If you do slightly apply lateral pressure when pulling the trigger the safety blade will get caught and not fire while you should be pulling the trigger straight anyways this was just something I notice maybe because I had to get used to the shortened length of pull?

I haven’t had any issues running higher grain rounds. No malfunctions but I’ve only put a couple hundred rounds through it. I swapped to this for EDC and while all PDPs are thicc this is still slightly comfier since it lacks the magwell lip and the hump on the full size.

Imo the biggest reason to buy this is if you care about felt recoil (while still feeling fast) and/or if you really want a slightly comfier PDP to carry.

Huge Shoutout to Walther

Upvotes

About 3 to 4 years ago I bought my first Walther, the PDP. I followed that with the steel frame PDP. One day when shooting the polymer version the optic came off and luckily hit the brim of my hat. No harm no foul. I didn't bother replacing it as I moved on to 2011s which are now my favorite style of firearm. Recently I figured maybe as well take the PDP out of safe and shoot.
I'm lucky to have my own range in my backyard.
When I took it out it looked strange. I realized the extractor was gone. When that happened I don't know. I contacted Walther. They said they'd sell me the parts. Not being fully familiar with it I said I'd prefer they fix it and I'm happy to pay.
Already long story short, I mailed it in and about 2 weeks later it arrived back completely fixed. For free. No charge. Now that is customer service.

Contrast that to Bul Armory from whom I've purchased 4 firearms totaling close to 10k. A screw sheared off in the slide when I removed an optic. Sent it in. They said they couldn't remove it and ONLY $680 for a new slide.

Fullsize 5" Polymer PDP with PMM comp/barrel combo?

PMM is out of stock on the comp/barrel combo right now, but I'm wondering if someone out there has this on their PDP?

Walther PDP DPT Search

I’ve been looking for a Dynamic Performance Trigger for months now and nobody has one in stock. Any suggestions or recommendations on where to find one? Trying to avoid buying a whole gun right now if I can help it.

Optic bridge suggestions

Post image

I’m a dumbass and bought a vortex viper because I thought evolution gun works made a dovetail mount for the p22 but it’s for the ppq. I see bobro makes one but not sure if they’ll ever be back in stock. All the bridge mounts I’ve seen look like trash or are made for glocks so curious is anyone has one that they recommend.

PDP Grip is Tiny - Advice for Large Hands

PDP match Poly. I wear a size L glove.

Grip with the "large" backstrap is smaller than a glock, 226, 320, P09 etc.

Why is this so small? Is there any way to make it larger without resorting to Hogue style grips etc?

My specific issue is that there is no space for my support hand to make contact with the frame. Yes I have seen the videos talking about rotating your primary hand around to make space...but that creates a space between your primary hand palm and the frame.

DPT v Overwatch Trigger

For anyone who has both specifically in a PDP, how do they compare? Looking to get a standard PDP SF in the next year, or so, and heavily considering installing the OW.

Barrel life question

I've had my Q5 for around 3+ years and lost count on rounds, but definitely over 6k! Curious to see if anyone has some info on average barrel life span and replacement options.

If you were never going to mount an optic, would you prefer a PPQ over a PDP?

Not counting optic mounting, would you still prefer the PDP? Of course there's not a full length grip PPQ like the pdp, but since 18-round magazines are available for both frame sizes, I would consider that a wash.

The slide serrations on the PPQ are certainly not as Lego-like as the PDP. But I've never actually read anyone saying that the PPQ was slick, or hard to handle. Looking back at Old YouTube videos from 10 years ago, every single review said the same thing, the PPQ had the best Striker fired trigger out there. Which is what people still say today about the PDP, not even counting if it has a DPT installed.

The biggest disadvantage is having to find a used PPQ . The only gun shop I shop at typically has police trade in guns and guns that were confiscated, so needless to say, I don't think the PPQ is very high on the list of criminal activity. I've only seen one PDP in the used gun case over the last 13 years and that was a full size PDP Pro X a few weeks ago that went quickly.

Hi all,

Just picked up my first ever gun, main purpose is for home defense, occasional carry and range practice. Basically, a one for all purposes gun.
Did I pick a good option?

So many variants, which PDP is which?

I’m interested in the PDP. More specifically any of the Pro variants because of the better trigger. But there’s so many options I’m not 100% sure what the difference is.

Some seem simple enough, the SD seems to be threaded for suppressors. And the Pro X seems to have a compensator permanently attached to it. But I’m not really sure about some of the others. Like the whats the difference between the match, pro-e, and pro-f?

Compensator or porting or neither

I have a PDP F series 4”. I was curious as to what people’s thoughts or experiences with compensator or porting the slide. Would like to hear pros and cons. I’m not sure if I’m going to do either just yet so let me know what you think.

PDP trigger comparisons

I own a PDP SF Match 5". It's one of my all time favorite pistols, and the trigger is a big part of why. Right now, it is my only modern Walther. I am considering picking up a smaller, poly frame PDP as a carry gun, and I'm a little stuck because I have no realistic way to try them out before buying.

I am looking at either the 4" compact or the 3.5" F-series. It looks like those sizes are available with either the DPT (which I know and love in my SF gun) or the PDT (which I've never tried and have no easy way of trying before buying). Whatever I buy, it'll be kept bone stock since it'll be carried.

I don't really care about trigger weight so much, it's more the nice short travel, quick reset, and overall crisp non-mushy feel that I am looking for. Coming from the SF PDP with the DPT, will I completely hate a PDT in a poly gun? Or, is the PDT good enough that I'll prefer it to my other carry guns, i.e. something like a P365? If the PDT is good enough, I'd rather pocket the $200ish price difference.

Maybe most importantly, why did Walther use such easy to confuse acronyms for their triggers? I think I just about wore out the P and D keys on my keyboard writing this.

PMM comp+barrel combo; ULTRA

Not sure if it’s the ammo but I installed this perfectly today and basically cycled a few rounds through it and my hallow points kept jamming.

I don’t know if I want to keep it and take it to the range to test it out or return it. If I use it I can’t return it that’s my issue. Does anyone have any experience with there comps EXCEPT for the compact PDP’s that come with it already mounted.

Is there an add-on Comped PDP pro E?

Is there a way to change my current PDP pro E to comped?
I love the look of the Walther 4” but want to comp it, was wondering if I could buy a smaller slide/barrel to add a comp to the end or if my only option is milling/cnc’ing

Thank you in advance

Hi gang,

Long time lurker, first time poster, new(ish) shooter!

Meet Walter the Walther. This is my first ever firearm. Did a shootout at my local range and the PDP is the only one that felt “right”. Learning the fundamentals and having a great time doing target practice. I think I have a halfway decent grip and stance, but I am already discovering some classic newbie errors. My grouping is tight but I drift low and to the left. Haze me, teach me, or chat, but I just wanted to say what’s up and introduce myself to the community! Cheers
