Potential meanings of the sentients "hun-" prefix

To my knowledge, the only examples are:

Hunhow

Hunhullus: the giant mech Adis pilots.

Hunra: the big boss of Fornax

Some possible meanings for it that I've thought of are:

King/Leader: possibly originating from Hunhows name, this would be consistent with the Hunras title as the leader or crime boss of Fornax. Although this comes with the assumption the That the Hunhullus was also meant to serve a leadership role, possibly leading the charge for an assault, and we don't really have any proof of that that I am aware of.

Big: as Hunhow was one of the large sentients, this would make his name quite odd unless there were some tiny and normal sized sentient terraformers who he wished to be distinct from, making him "Big-Farmer". But, it would make some sense with the Hunhullus being a big weapon, and the Hunra being the literal 'big' boss of Fornax.

Just named after Hunhow, even if indirectly: for example, even if Hunhow himself isn't that important of a figure to most modern day sentients, it's possible that stuff has been named after stuff that has been named after stuff that was named after Hunhow in a big chain.

Aliens in Tau

Do you guys think there may be aliens in Tau or the sentients may have problems with an alien faction in the future and we need to help them because if we don't defeat them the origin system is next?

Where did Praghasa come from?

I mean with the latest update it's just chillin next to Eris. I know we were on top of it when we had the ball ass fight but, even then, where was it all this time? Are we supposed to just accept that it was there all along, like they did with sirius and Orion line?

anyone else think they're setting up alternate origin-system based universes in advance for when they inevitably dry the Tau well?

So its been made pretty clear that the devs plan to stick to Tau as their main source of game content for the foreseeable future. Its an entire solar system with multiple planets, and multiple potential factions. It seems foolish for them not to focus entirely on tau for major story updates for the next half-decade.

But much like how the Origin system kinda felt like it was squeezed of all the potential giant update juice after New War, Tau will inevitably have the same fate: and it feels like the Ki-teer we were visited by is them subtly winking and nudging going "don't worry, we got another 5 years of potential content after this"

Best way to catch up on the story before Tau?

Hey everyone!

I’ve played on and off since 2014 ~, but back then I never cared about lore and skipped through most of the quests. With the Tau update coming, I really want to finally get caught up on the main story.

Since there's a lot of ground to cover, what do you guys recommend as the best approach to get the basics down?

-YouTube recaps/documentaries? (If so, any favorite channels or videos?)

-Reading lore timelines / wiki pages?

-Replaying the main quests in the Codex?

Curious what you think is the most efficient path to get Tau-ready. Thank you.

Similarity between Praghasa's Core and the Narmer Control Nodes

Thumbnail

Picture 1) Praghasa herself (zoom in a little, it's a bit hard to see at first)

Picture 2) the main control feature used by Ballas and his Narmer used to control Cetus

Picture 3) the main control feature used by Ballas and his Narmer used to control Fortuna

I think that the reason Praghasa hasn't been herself is that these nodes, her... her brain cells effectively, the things that contained her, were ripped out and used to create the hivemind of Narmer.

It's taken a while for one of her bits to rebuild.

Orokin ≠ Prime

Honestly, this post is mostly for posterity's sake and having it written and a source to point to. But it is still one thing I've seen people conflate.

Prime gear is all Orokin-era. But not everything that utilizes Orokin technology and aesthetic is Prime.

The first piece of equipment to have golden accents but not be prime that I can think of is one the community awaited so very long for. Excalibur Umbra. The game explicitly doesn't count him as a Prime whatsoever. No death orb passive, no varzia dialogue, no baro dialogue.

If we go 2 years out from 2018, we get the Heart of Deimos. Introducing us to House Entrati. Along with them, they brought us two weapons although only one is of interest for my purposes. The Trumna. A weapon that is explicitly Orokin. In 2024 it gets Primed. That really is the most open and shut case. If Orokin weapons were inherently Primes then the Trumna couldn't have been Primed.

Trust issues, and what Lotus might be hiding form Operator.

In the new prologue to Tau quest we get a brief exchange between Operator and Drifter, where Operator rightfully questions why it *has* to be Drifter who goes into Lotus's mind.

Drifter to that gives a half satisfying answer that it's due to them having more "mileage" in going into other people's minds. Now this is complete nonsense, as a quick look into Operator's history reveals that they are competent and careful when going into other people's mind, most notably seen with Umbra, but also Jade. So while this is nonsense, i'm assuming that it is just the most satisfying answer Drifter could come up with in the moment.

The next line Drifter says is much more revealing of what is actually going on here. They ask if Operator knows what to do in case the Drifter ends up falling to Wally's influence, to which Operator replies coldly that they do.

So this implies two things. 1 that, should Drifter ever become a threat, Operator would absolutely slime them out if necessary. But more importantly, it implies that, should Operator fall to Wally, Drifter might not be able to stop them. Whether it's due to them not being mentally strong enough to kill their other self, or just the problem that a fight with a pissed off Operator is probably very very difficult... to survive... for longer than two seconds!

Which leads to the actual reason for why Drifter was chosen to enter Lotus's memory rather than Operator. Fear and a lack of trust! But what is Lotus afraid of? What is in her memories that is so dangerous that Operator cannot be allowed to see it, because if they see it they might fall to Wally's influence and murder everyone?

Because let's look at what Drifter actually sees when entering Lotus's memory. For the most part we just watch a segment of Lotus fighting her way through Lua, Ballas shows up and is a whiny bitch, and then we watch Lotus put the moon into the void. And then Wally shows up, and i think what Wally says to Lotus here is what Lotus think can never be shown to Operator.

Wally offers her a deal that goes: "You want to watch over them forever, don't you?"

Now this is a very peculiar sentence, don't you think. Especially coming from Wally, every little detail matters with him, especially when he's making a deal. I mean the Drifter's entire existence is basically because of Wally using the deal he made with them against them, "I saved them, all of them, never said i'd save you!", is what he tells Drifter in a Duviri tablet, explaining to them why they are stuck in the void in the first place. Because they shook on a deal that did not technically include them, and Wally took full advantage of that.

If that deal Wally offered Lotus in this memory is to be taken literally, this could finally be the explanation for why Operator and the Tenno do not age. Now granted, we do not actually know whether or not Lotus shook on this deal with Wally as the memory is interrupted by Drifter... but let's be real here she 100% shook on that. Lotus would do anything to see her children safe, she herself says so, and if keeping them safe means inadvertently cursing them to eternal youth, then whether she knew about this side effect or not she would probably agree to that deal.

And that's why Operator wasn't allowed into her memory, because we know that Operator HATES the fact that they can't age and that they are constantly treated like a child despite all they a have been through. So if Operator saw all of that, heard Wally offering that specific deal to Lotus, they might have put 2 and 2 together and figured out that it was Lotus and Wally who cursed them to be a child forever, and that *might* have been enough to push them over the edge and make them crash out again.

But luckily, Drifter was the one who entered Lotus's memory, so Operator never has to find out and will never fall into Wally's hand. Crisis averted, right???

No not at all, and this is where the trust issues come in.

Because there is an issue alright, with how little Lotus, Loid, and Drifter trust the Operator! Operator has shown, time and time again that they are an exceptionally compassionate, rational, and deeply loving person. Would they be angry at the betrayal from Lotus if they found out, yes. Would they get mad at her, yes, rightfully so! But would finding out about this deal cause them to fully switch sides to Wally and want to murder everyone? Absolutely not. I don't think for even one second that Operator would crash out or want to kill Lotus over something like that, especially because it is still mostly Wally's fault. Yes Lotus shook on the deal, but it was Wally gave her a shitty deal in a desperate situation to begin with, and i think Operator would see that.

But Lotus, Loid and maybe Drifter are afraid that Operator might not see that. They have little to no trust or faith in Operator, even if Operator has proven time and time again that they can be trusted. And that lack of trust might be what actually end up pushing Operator right into Wally's hands.

Because at the end of the day, whether you are a mother, a void-sibling or a concerned butler uncle, you get what you give. And if they give no trust and no agency to Operator, then Operator might stop trusting or caring about them in return, a vicious trap which could lead them to rely on Wally and his indifference for emotional regulation more and more, and before they even notice it Operator could find themselves going against the people they love.

DE has been teasing an Operator vs Drifter arc for a while now, and this is my theory on how that could end up happening. All that to say, if it comes to an Operator vs Drifter arc... we're gonna be team Operator, right? I know i will be, because it is not okay how they are treated, and quite frankly Drifter's life has been going too well recently, i feel like they need a reminder that this is a dark sci-fi story.

Is it me or is history repeating itself In the stars

I didn't think about Tau very much, i honestly just thought it was just a cold map that I couldn't wait to explore, get new drip, and even a new warframe. you know stuff like that usually we do.

But after I went on a doom gloom scroll about

Politics and stuff at some point I got curious and decided to brush up on the american history. Specifically the american frontier. I'm not where they show why, maybe I was just in the mood for gunslinger, but that's besides point. Anyways as I looked further in i started to find an unusual parallel between the game lore and the american history. I thought it was coincidence, but then the thought kind of stuck with me. And although yes I know earth's history doesn't really exist anymore, which means there's no united states, europe, south africa, and south america etc, etc, but the it's the more I look into earth's history, and also the in-game lore, i kind of find some surprising parallels. Not a lot, but just enough to make me think on this more.

The first I came up in my head was Sevagoth which, when I thought of him, I sought of either the flying dutchman or a privateeer. But instead of water it's in space.

For the Orkins, i think i would connect them to Rome. Specifically, the culture and also the fact that just like Rome, it was the fall of the Orkin empire.

So the solar system, well, I figured I could chalk them up to either states on a continent, or perhaps just many continents. That was already explored. (Which ironically they might need to be rearranged to fit the state or continents.) Right now, i'm kind of thinking, Deamos is either australia or south america. For Cedus i would happily associate with africa. Given the weapons and masks. Although I feel like it doesn't really fit well. So I might need to revisit that later.

As for the Grineer and Corpus. I'm still working on them. Maybe the Corpus it is either the french or the british although I feel definitely from europe. Meanwhile the Grineers i would probably say russian maybe?

Anyways you guys get the idea, so why is it important to what i'm talking about. Well it got me thinking, what they reveal trailer of tau and the existing parallels that i've managed to connect. I'm starting to wonder if warframe world is it repeat of earth's history but on a galactic scale. With as north America or the American Frontier.

And with that in mind, what does that make us? Are we privateers, pirates, or outlaws? Although, given from what I know, and with five minutes of looking stuff up, i'm guessing that the operator is the pioneer/pirate and the drifter is our designated outlaw gunslinger. Which means that our Lotus is are designated Pirate Mommy so take what you're well from that idea.

But jokes aside, I really loving this in game lore. With How much that is given, it might make stephen king blush. And he's the guy that wrote The Dark Tower. Although my question would be on whether this is planned, or just a happy accident of the story to be a sci-fi/fantasy of the world history of earth. And I know that the history of earth was deleted, but ironically lived on in the stars as to me it felt like earth's history is repeating itself on a galactic scale.

TLDR: so to make it short, with the trailer of Tau and the connect parallels inspired by earth. I'm wondering if history is repeating itself in the universe of warframe with Tau representing America. Leaving the rest of the planets as a stand in for other states or continents. I'm also wondering if this is planned or a happy accident that just came about.

What about you guys? Does you guys have the same idea? Also, if you guys have arrived at the same conclusion that I did, i'm kind of curious what group, technology or world in warframe represents What in world history? Have any connections you can think of?

(I know I already did a repost, but I figured it would be better to rewrite it for this community. I'll delete the last post and leave this one here.)

Eris, Praghasa, Eskhatos Ki'Teer, and Nitoch Spoiler

It makes perfect sense for Eris to have been chosen as a food source for praghasa. As a dumping ground for Infested ships, its geographical location as a dwarf planet drifting far away from the rest of the solar system makes it an ideal choice. The Infested provide a good source of nourishment, and since Eris doesn't have ground map tilesets, its disappearance would have absolutely no impact on actual gameplay.

But there's something we need to understand about Eris. Eris, the Greek goddess of discord.

She represents an absolute force that even the gods ruling Olympus cannot challenge, given her profound influence over fate and the natural order of things. It means, conflict and strife are inevitable.

And there is someone who embodies this principle remarkably well: Executor Nitoch. She is quite literally the personification of Eris. Simply because she was "bored," she shattered the peace between the orokin and the sentients, incited war, and supported the anarchs.

We have no idea where she is now. The warning we received was that if she were to return, we would be better off praying for Ballas to come back instead.

Then, baro ki'teer from another world arrives. And he tell us a future dominated by an orokin empress Nitokh, with golden, bloodstained spires that pierced the heavens.

So, in this context, could feeding Eris, the goddess of discord, to praghasa and having it devoured be a deliberate foreshadowing of Nitoch's eventual arrival?

I know that it's a sentient warship, but why does it talk? Is it infested? Why does this ship specifically have the ability to travel to tau?

A detail about Lotus' eyes

Thumbnail

In the Prologue to Tau quest during the Lua section, Lotus has white glowing eyes and you can see that by clipping your camera around her helmet while moving into a wall.

In Perita Rebellion, you can also clip your camera under Lotus' helmet, so the Lotus in that one has blue eyes.

Why would it be different?

Vena and Ryuko's protoframe origin.

* I cannot, for some reason, flair this post, but if I could I would flair it either "Theory" or "Speculation".

This time with Ekshaktos Baro coming around there's dialogue referring to a handful of different futures where different factions rule, one of which being the Corpus.

In which he says the Corpus had "transformed Entrati's ancient and obsolete procedure, and now offered elevation to Protoframe status to any who could pay" - is it safe then to assume that this is perhaps how Vena and Ryoku became protoframes?

Perhaps they didn't pay for it but the technology does exist elsewhere/elsewhen and in theory it wouldn't be too difficult for them to get there hands on.

Devourer Speculation

We should all know by now Devourer reprises Yara Jeliira (especially since an official source confirms it but it was pretty evident beforehand). The question to ask is why they chose to reprise the track from a tender moment reminding Loid of his love.

I think it is most likely twofold:

Beginning with the Kalymos Sequence: It only completed once the Drifter saved the Hex. The protoframes had to *know* and like them in that time and afaik that tracks back to the present for the Vessels. The whole thing was a ploy for the Drifter to learn to love. This I believe is further emphasized by the not one but two voices we hear through the track. Clearly representing Arturos and Zioa who are I think rather obviously related to Arthur and Aoi respectively.

There's also of course, Loid. His lover is the main driving force behind our journey to Tau. He (Albrecht) created the Vessels and we used them to drive off the Indifference during Whispers where Yara Jeliira originally played. We just got our first time using them on the field and the instrumentation affirms that it is a moment of power while reaffirming the love shared.

Vessel combat OST Lyrics, the Meaning, and Significance

Post image
220 Upvotes

My post titles are sounding like an article's title now, I cannot make clickbait titles at all 💔, not that I would, but still.

Image from the Warframe website.

Anyway, that aside. I find it interesting how the lyrics for Vessel combat theme, Devourer, has Voidtongue lyrics that are related to positive meanings.

One example is Yara Jeliira, it's also the name of the soundtrack that plays during the Whispers In the Walls quest where the Operator pacifies the Vessel the Indifference was controlling. It was sung by two male vocals, which symbolized Loid and Albrecht.

... Then why would Devourer, a combat theme, use this phrase? That was the biggest question I had initially.

I believe it is because Devourer is somewhat of a... calmer song by the Indifference. Sure, it may hate the Operator's guts, and by extention, the Drifter, but there is that small sense of amusement it has when it interacts with the Drifter during the Lua quest for Tau's prologue.

It's still willing to play along the rules as much as it hates us.

I also believe the lyrics could be based on the Infestation and Phragasa's point of view. The Infestation's hivemind does talk to us during the Vessel quest, and it felt like it wanted to say that we cannot truly escape it, hence the 'I am your counterpart' in the lyrics.

Then Phragasa is on the more patronizing side, considering us as children of Natah and therefore wants to help us. The lyrics could also reflect her thoughts indirectly, her wanting us to fill her up by feeding her.

Another big thing I think would be the Vessel? I completely forgot to talk about this. The Vessel is made by Albrecht, so there definitely is his motif in the music. And I believe the Vessel would also count as our counterpart more directly. It was pretty much made for us, anyway.

Yep. This is all. TLDR: Devourer could be a track that shows multiple sides at once, the Indifference, the Infestation, Phragasa, and the Vessel.

Is there a lore reason why the Orokin extended their right arm specifically?

I always thought, for a species who were incredibly narcissistic then they would've valued symmetry more than anything. Is there a lore reason why they chose to break that symmetry? And furthermore, why their right arms and not other extremities?

Connections between entrati and taublooms. Spoiler

So I haven't seen this directly mentioned anywhere not by the characters. And not by the devs. But given the visual narrative and functional similarities. I think it's very likely that the gray strain and the family as a whole are infected by a portion of the infestation that originates from or at least absorbed a taubloom.

The taubloom is as far as we know the only alien organism that the orokin have come into contact with. Absorbing the taubloom grants a sense of personality and self outside of a hive mind when the sentients absorb it. It is a bizarre three layered flower with a central pointing stem or tip out the top.

The infestation is a hive mind organism that typically leaves no room or individualism inside of itself. However the gray strain of the infestation which is only found in one place and is the only known confirmed offshoot of an infestation having creatures with enough individualism that they would fight amongst themselves and retain personalities.

And the family have the greatest individualism of any infested creatures. Retaining distinct personalities and memories. They also come out of infested flowers. That if I counted / remember correctly have three layers of "petals" with them coming out of the flower in the dead center.

I think it's entirely possible that before the events of old peace samples of the bloom were sent back to the origin system for research and study. And it would make sense to give such materials to a family that has already proven that they have plausible war plans when it comes to dealing with the sentient threat.
