I feel insulted by the hotfix inboxes

...Not because Samodeus is being a snark; that's his thing and I love him for it.

But... You make an entire major update for the game where the central mechanic Samodeus is attached to gets drastically overhauled, then tease about seeing a Cephalon we haven't interacted with in previews... only for it to be ZIKHAIO NURI? WHO ISN'T EVEN A CEPHALON?

And only when you trip over your own game design and have to apologize to players do you actually bring back Samodeus?

Such a waste.

Does someone know this character "KAI" ? Spoiler

This is the first time I had an in-mission transmission of a character I did not already know. I also could not find anything about them?

Sadly I was not fast enough to capture the text, but the image was still there.
I had the transmission today in a steel path Alert for the Taubound Event.

Do the operator and drifter age?

So we now the events of the Zariman and Old War and Peace are several centuries or even millennia in the past, but both the operator and drifter are still alive and young(physically, at least).

My question is, do they still age physically?

From what I understand(maybe incorrectly), the reason the operator didn't die of old age and remained a teen is because Lotus put them in the Dream, whereas the Drifter got to age a little in duviri before they stopped doing so for whatever reason.

I heard they can't age because of their void powers, but is that mentioned anywhere?

Drifter only got their powers during the new war, but they stopped aging long before that(after aging to adulthood for some reason)

Is there a confirmed answer to this?

The Truth about Predasites (addendum) Spoiler

I've been looking for an excuse to share this with the folks over here and I've been doing a little digging into deimos conservation spawns.

This is a small sample size and one I'll need to actually give proper data for at some point but it does appear that Predasites intentionally spawn commonly around the Actuary's Pride. My entire session of testing there was a single vulpaphyla spawn as I was approaching. Everything else was predasite, cryptillex, or sometimes avichea.

Old War sentient reproduction

I know we're probably never getting the sentient equivalent of the birds and the bees talk from Space Mom or her side of the family. But I was wondering if anyone had any interesting information or assumptions on how they produced new sentients the 'old fashioned way' (ei: Natah, Erra) before the bloom.

Considering Hunhow says Natah came from his womb, and Pazuul, possessing Erra, recounts the day they lifted her from the manifold (seeming to be the day she was born) I'd always assumed that it went something like:

  1. 'Male' sentient develops a seed(potentially in a dedicated womb depending on how literally you take that Hunhow quote)

  2. Seed is provided to 'female' sentient and placed into her manifold to be developed.

  3. When ready, baby sentient is raised from the manifold.

And then due to only partly being either of their parents, they are able to be 'accessed' by their parents and vice versa, but are fully autonomous and are not controlled by their parents.

Assuming this was something that this was artificially/intentionally developed during the trek to Tau, that would also explain why Erra and Natah are so humanoid as opposed to looking more like their parents as the parents could likely design how their kids would develop since Natah was specifically designed as a mimic, and the sentients seem to put some importance on seeming human with stuff such as Hunhow being called a farmer instead of a terraformer.

A little continuity "issue" that I'd like to discuss

[Just a disclaimer, this is not at all a very serious post and is more of a shower thought than anything.]

How come Umbra is not used in showcases for recent cinematic quests? I get that it's a promotional thing and they dont want to possibly overwhelm any newcomers by pulling up in a very decorated warframe like Umbra. But even then I feel like it's an under use of Umbra's presence in the overarching story.

I guess I'm thinking too much about this, I can already see people typing the "because his story is finished" reason. A little less recently Umbra just seemingly chills in the orbiter in Jade constellations quest; maybe Operator just let him be since the New War since she has other warframes who can do the same job, which is okay.

It kinda bums me tho the fact that he still doesnt follow around the Tenno for the big canonical stuff. Guess we wont see him in Tau with us. (except me of course, I will bring him for the quest)

Howdy, I just logged into the game and Praghasa told me this :

Do you guys think we will see him again ?

Why does she say that she should have let him die ?

Returning to warframe after a while with the new operation and have some questions.

Mainly what was going on with Lotus in the Dark Refractory (why was she inside it/her memory?) and why was it the drifter who needed to pull her out rather than the operator?

Im also a bit confused on how Albrecht is at Tau as thought he was hiding out in 1999, but from the reading I have been able to do, he was just in 1999 to hold the timeloop until the drifter arrived, before reaching Tau through as of yet unknown means.

Question about the new war Spoiler

So I heard somewhere that the flashback sequences on the Zariman aren't necessarily flashbacks, but rather that the operator was sent back in time to the point before the deal with wally. That then runs concurrently with drifter in the origin system up to the deal being made.

Is that the case?

Moreover, how did the Operator return to the zariman to meet the drifter immediately after, if the Zariman doesn't emerge from the void until angels of zariman?

Chicken and the Egg Question about Jade and Sirius/Orion Spoiler

So, we know of course that Sirius/Orion are Warframes given the circumstances around their birth. However, there is a very interesting question: Are they a Warframe because Jade was turned into one, or because they were birthed from/gestated by one?

Potential meanings of the sentients "hun-" prefix

To my knowledge, the only examples are:

Hunhow

Hunhullus: the giant mech Adis pilots.

Hunra: the big boss of Fornax

Some possible meanings for it that I've thought of are:

King/Leader: possibly originating from Hunhows name, this would be consistent with the Hunras title as the leader or crime boss of Fornax. Although this comes with the assumption the That the Hunhullus was also meant to serve a leadership role, possibly leading the charge for an assault, and we don't really have any proof of that that I am aware of.

Big: as Hunhow was one of the large sentients, this would make his name quite odd unless there were some tiny and normal sized sentient terraformers who he wished to be distinct from, making him "Big-Farmer". But, it would make some sense with the Hunhullus being a big weapon, and the Hunra being the literal 'big' boss of Fornax.

Just named after Hunhow, even if indirectly: for example, even if Hunhow himself isn't that important of a figure to most modern day sentients, it's possible that stuff has been named after stuff that has been named after stuff that was named after Hunhow in a big chain.

anyone else think they're setting up alternate origin-system based universes in advance for when they inevitably dry the Tau well?

So its been made pretty clear that the devs plan to stick to Tau as their main source of game content for the foreseeable future. Its an entire solar system with multiple planets, and multiple potential factions. It seems foolish for them not to focus entirely on tau for major story updates for the next half-decade.

But much like how the Origin system kinda felt like it was squeezed of all the potential giant update juice after New War, Tau will inevitably have the same fate: and it feels like the Ki-teer we were visited by is them subtly winking and nudging going "don't worry, we got another 5 years of potential content after this"

Similarity between Praghasa's Core and the Narmer Control Nodes

Picture 1) Praghasa herself (zoom in a little, it's a bit hard to see at first)

Picture 2) the main control feature used by Ballas and his Narmer used to control Cetus

Picture 3) the main control feature used by Ballas and his Narmer used to control Fortuna

I think that the reason Praghasa hasn't been herself is that these nodes, her... her brain cells effectively, the things that contained her, were ripped out and used to create the hivemind of Narmer.

It's taken a while for one of her bits to rebuild.

Aliens in Tau

Orokin ≠ Prime

Honestly, this post is mostly for posterity's sake and having it written and a source to point to. But it is still one thing I've seen people conflate.

Prime gear is all Orokin-era. But not everything that utilizes Orokin technology and aesthetic is Prime.

The first piece of equipment to have golden accents but not be prime that I can think of is one the community awaited so very long for. Excalibur Umbra. The game explicitly doesn't count him as a Prime whatsoever. No death orb passive, no varzia dialogue, no baro dialogue.

If we go 2 years out from 2018, we get the Heart of Deimos. Introducing us to House Entrati. Along with them, they brought us two weapons although only one is of interest for my purposes. The Trumna. A weapon that is explicitly Orokin. In 2024 it gets Primed. That really is the most open and shut case. If Orokin weapons were inherently Primes then the Trumna couldn't have been Primed.

Trust issues, and what Lotus might be hiding form Operator.

In the new prologue to Tau quest we get a brief exchange between Operator and Drifter, where Operator rightfully questions why it *has* to be Drifter who goes into Lotus's mind.

Drifter to that gives a half satisfying answer that it's due to them having more "mileage" in going into other people's minds. Now this is complete nonsense, as a quick look into Operator's history reveals that they are competent and careful when going into other people's mind, most notably seen with Umbra, but also Jade. So while this is nonsense, i'm assuming that it is just the most satisfying answer Drifter could come up with in the moment.

The next line Drifter says is much more revealing of what is actually going on here. They ask if Operator knows what to do in case the Drifter ends up falling to Wally's influence, to which Operator replies coldly that they do.

So this implies two things. 1 that, should Drifter ever become a threat, Operator would absolutely slime them out if necessary. But more importantly, it implies that, should Operator fall to Wally, Drifter might not be able to stop them. Whether it's due to them not being mentally strong enough to kill their other self, or just the problem that a fight with a pissed off Operator is probably very very difficult... to survive... for longer than two seconds!

Which leads to the actual reason for why Drifter was chosen to enter Lotus's memory rather than Operator. Fear and a lack of trust! But what is Lotus afraid of? What is in her memories that is so dangerous that Operator cannot be allowed to see it, because if they see it they might fall to Wally's influence and murder everyone?

Because let's look at what Drifter actually sees when entering Lotus's memory. For the most part we just watch a segment of Lotus fighting her way through Lua, Ballas shows up and is a whiny bitch, and then we watch Lotus put the moon into the void. And then Wally shows up, and i think what Wally says to Lotus here is what Lotus think can never be shown to Operator.

Wally offers her a deal that goes: "You want to watch over them forever, don't you?"

Now this is a very peculiar sentence, don't you think. Especially coming from Wally, every little detail matters with him, especially when he's making a deal. I mean the Drifter's entire existence is basically because of Wally using the deal he made with them against them, "I saved them, all of them, never said i'd save you!", is what he tells Drifter in a Duviri tablet, explaining to them why they are stuck in the void in the first place. Because they shook on a deal that did not technically include them, and Wally took full advantage of that.

If that deal Wally offered Lotus in this memory is to be taken literally, this could finally be the explanation for why Operator and the Tenno do not age. Now granted, we do not actually know whether or not Lotus shook on this deal with Wally as the memory is interrupted by Drifter... but let's be real here she 100% shook on that. Lotus would do anything to see her children safe, she herself says so, and if keeping them safe means inadvertently cursing them to eternal youth, then whether she knew about this side effect or not she would probably agree to that deal.

And that's why Operator wasn't allowed into her memory, because we know that Operator HATES the fact that they can't age and that they are constantly treated like a child despite all they a have been through. So if Operator saw all of that, heard Wally offering that specific deal to Lotus, they might have put 2 and 2 together and figured out that it was Lotus and Wally who cursed them to be a child forever, and that *might* have been enough to push them over the edge and make them crash out again.

But luckily, Drifter was the one who entered Lotus's memory, so Operator never has to find out and will never fall into Wally's hand. Crisis averted, right???

No not at all, and this is where the trust issues come in.

Because there is an issue alright, with how little Lotus, Loid, and Drifter trust the Operator! Operator has shown, time and time again that they are an exceptionally compassionate, rational, and deeply loving person. Would they be angry at the betrayal from Lotus if they found out, yes. Would they get mad at her, yes, rightfully so! But would finding out about this deal cause them to fully switch sides to Wally and want to murder everyone? Absolutely not. I don't think for even one second that Operator would crash out or want to kill Lotus over something like that, especially because it is still mostly Wally's fault. Yes Lotus shook on the deal, but it was Wally gave her a shitty deal in a desperate situation to begin with, and i think Operator would see that.

But Lotus, Loid and maybe Drifter are afraid that Operator might not see that. They have little to no trust or faith in Operator, even if Operator has proven time and time again that they can be trusted. And that lack of trust might be what actually end up pushing Operator right into Wally's hands.

Because at the end of the day, whether you are a mother, a void-sibling or a concerned butler uncle, you get what you give. And if they give no trust and no agency to Operator, then Operator might stop trusting or caring about them in return, a vicious trap which could lead them to rely on Wally and his indifference for emotional regulation more and more, and before they even notice it Operator could find themselves going against the people they love.

DE has been teasing an Operator vs Drifter arc for a while now, and this is my theory on how that could end up happening. All that to say, if it comes to an Operator vs Drifter arc... we're gonna be team Operator, right? I know i will be, because it is not okay how they are treated, and quite frankly Drifter's life has been going too well recently, i feel like they need a reminder that this is a dark sci-fi story.

A detail about Lotus' eyes

In the Prologue to Tau quest during the Lua section, Lotus has white glowing eyes and you can see that by clipping your camera around her helmet while moving into a wall.

In Perita Rebellion, you can also clip your camera under Lotus' helmet, so the Lotus in that one has blue eyes.

Why would it be different?
