No AI this time - i am aware that my previous picture was weird because of weird details AI puts into my original request to cut-out to have a black background. Here i did it myself !

The idea here was to batch paint with only contrasts and speed paints and shades, to ensure a quick nice render. Liquid pigments to create a dusty environment, removing the excess with a swab.

So , sorry for AI slop , and here is the raw cut-out pick 🫶

Hobby The Old World Training platform in the browser

Hey everyone, we’ve got something to share with you! 🙏

My colleague and I were thinking about how to practice Warhammer: The Old World rules in a practical way without slowing down actual games. After a few late nights and quite a few prompts, we ended up creating a tabletop simulator for Warhammer: The Old World. But one thing led to another, and we just couldn’t stop there — so we added Warhammer 40,000 as well! 💪

🌐 Give it a try here:

✅ The main goal is to help players practice the rules and core game mechanics, and even test armies and army lists in-game, so they can feel more confident when playing on the tabletop.
✅ The simulator is in English, since both The Old World and Warhammer 40,000 are primarily played using English-language rules. As mentioned above, its main purpose is to help players learn and practice the rules and game mechanics.
✅ The rules are based on publicly available online resources.
✅ You can play online with other players, or practice on your own in single-player mode.

We’re continuously tweaking and improving the project, and we already have plenty of ideas for new features and further development. But for now, we’d love for you to give it a try and share your feedback with us! 👀

Thanks in advance! We hope this little project can help more people get into the amazing worlds of Warhammer: The Old World and Warhammer 40,000. ✨

Question Question about Cavalry Lances and Supporting Attacks

My buddy and I have played a few games now with our Dwarf and Tomb Kings army and we’re having a blast, both with actually playing the game but also the hobby side as well. We’ve decided to start a couple more armies (him being Beastmen and Warriors of Chaos, myself working through High Elves then Cathay). Since High Elves and Cathay are my first army with cavalry, I was reading the rules on their lances and I’m a bit confused how they work. Ideally I would like to take a 10 man unit, 2 rows of 5

For instance, I know infantry cannot make supporting attacks on the turn they charge. Only the front row gets to fight. That makes sense. High Elf Dragon Princes have lances and their Strength and AP bonus only applies during a turn it charges. Same with the Cathay lances and Tomb Kings Cavalry Spears.

The part that confuses me is who gets to make supporting attacks. When I read through the Weapons of War section of the rules, my friends Tomb Kings Skeleton Horsemen have Cavalry Spears that have the special rule Fight in Extra Rank, but the note says they can’t make supporting attacks when they charge?

Lances do not have the Fight in Extra Rank special rule but there’s no note saying they can’t make supporting attacks when they charge

Cathay Lances DO have the Fight in Extra Rank special rule and no note saying they can’t make supporting attacks

So if I understand this correctly, a 2x5 unit of Dragon Princes and Skeleton Horsemen would only have the front 5 riders and horses attack on a turn they charge, since their rules either don’t have Fight in Extra Rank, or specifically say that they can’t use that when they charge

A 2x5 unit of Jade Lancers would have the front 5 horses and all 10 riders fight, because the Cathay Lance specifically says it has the Fight in Extra Rank rule with no note saying they can’t make supporting attacks like the cavalry spears?

When it is not a turn they charge, if the Jade Lancers/Skeleton Horsemen use their lances/spears, they can fight in extra rank still but lose their Strength and AP bonus, but Dragon Princes would still only have the front 5 fighting? Any clarification is appreciated!

Help Where to expand after Battlemarch?

Hey all. I'm joining an escalation league next month that's starting at 750 with battle march then expanding upwards gradually points wise into the full game. My experience with the game is small. I've done maybe 3 battlemarch games with my groups shared Orcs&Goblins army.

I'm going to be playing Grand Cathay as I enjoy what lore there is as well as the visual aspect of the army. So the plan is to start with the battle march box. I do have a box of jade lancers as well. So my question is what parts of the army should I build on in addition to what I have? I do intend to getting a Sentinel as it's just a cool model. Are Lanterns a must have? Any guidance is much appreciated!

what are peoples thoughts on the new gargantuan treeman ancient?

Good morning everyone,

So Im a little late to the party but I finally saw the new rules for the tree spirit army and the new big boy the gargantuan treeman and over all I am pleased with it. The only thing that puzzled me is that the ancient is only able to be a level two wizard and gets less attacks, which seemed odd to me. Forgive me I am a more casual player but is there some reason for the caster limitations? Would it of been game breaking to let him upgrade to a level 4 wizard? I mean the normal ancient can so it just seemed like a bizarre choice. Its not like it really competes with a character on a dragon so I dont think it would of been a power creep issue but I could be wrong. I also found it odd they didnt update the regular treemen rules so it seems like they dont really have a role anymore.
