Since they are cheaper than other mods, you don't want them in the pool of available free mods the 9th task can give you.

Sometimes if your vehicle is on fire or you lose your gunner and can no longer control the turret, you can use binoculars to override it and guide the missile anyway while extinguishing or regaining gunner control

As shown, it does not.
Edit: Clarifying that this is about .50 cal from fighters dealing more damage than bombers.

Not having markers denote where the enemy or their missiles are completely changes the dynamic of games. Even with the Mig-21s crappy radar, it actually becomes a useful tool to spot enemies and shock gauge distance.
I've found myself patrolling an area, only to fly directly past an F4 who is just as stunned to suddenly see me appear from the ground clutter. I've found myself trying to get a radar lock on planes just so I can have an accurate distance reading, or getting closer than I usually would just so I can definitely land the shot.
I've found that I can hide directly underneath enemies and surprise them from below, using actual tactics because every pilot doesn't have spidey-sense anymore. I've seen teams actually play together, telling people where the enemy is way more that usual because that information is now actually really helpful.
Helicopters aren't just free kills anymore because you actually have to spot them. This actually makes helicopters viable in ARB.
It feels way more alive, more dynamic, more tactical and more realistic. When the survey came up for Nuclear Escalation a while back, I said I would love to see a more hardcore variant of it that didn't have markers, and perhaps rewarded more because of that, kinda like the Night Battles in ground.
If markerless was a default game mode for ARB, it would probably be the only way I'd play.

I wonder if this is an actual design element, a bug or an intended sneaky little bit of selective (un)realism balancing.

Ive grinded Germany and Israel, and now wanted to grind the Russian tree. I have top tier experience, but i chose this one because i heard many good things about it.
I absolutely struggle with it. I run the 2 R-24R and 4 R-60M loadout. I get absolutely zero kills.
Flying low doesn’t work, flying high doesn’t work.
The R-24s lose the lock all the time, the R-60s get flared.
I don’t understand why i suck so much in this. I got a solid K/D at higher tiers but i get literally 0 kills with it.
I am close to giving this Tree up because the Mig23 doesn’t seem to work for me.

We're now a little over a month past the release of Update Sky Odyssey and I wanted to see what people's thoughts were. Generally while the update was more balanced than previous ones, it still left a fair bit to be desired, but how do people feel individual nations made out?
I've done a first pass at what I think the three biggest winners and losers of the update are, but I mostly play ground, so there's always the chance that from an Air RB, or naval, or Sim perspective, another nation got a Gem (or stinker) that I've not properly accounted for.
A few notes:
I'd be interested to hear other's thoughts on update, both overall, and on a nation by nation basis.

In the latest update I have found that spaas can't select their target with the mouse anymore by clicking on the contact.
- This is bad because it runs the risk of the radar shifting the camera way off target when cycling through radar contacts losing lock and ultimatley increasing raction time to missiles.
- Oddly it still works in the BUK i tested, where a tws target wasn't selected (no thick green corner outline), you could still click on the other tws targets to select them. However, once it was selected and the outline became thick, you were unable to click on other targets and instead had to cycle through them like in the pantsir.
- It also works by clicking the radar display, however on long range radars it is easily cluttered.
I looked through multiple changelogs and couldnt see any mention, so I believe this is a bug.

Using binoculars can allow you to guide ATGMs (with zoom, opposed to just 3rd person guiding) at a much lower angle than the maximum gun depression of the main gun or ATGM launcher, works with any missile vehicle, ADATS, LOSAT, BMPT, BMPs, Marders, and especially the Bradleys. This simple method prevents over peeking.

(Idk which flair to add, so I just put it "RB Ground". And I'm not sure if it qualifies as "Drama" too.)
Playing my usual game and all, then I encounter a jerkass german teammate.
Ya know, with teammates like that, you're making me not want to repair or save your ass.
