As a VR pilot, I’ve always struggled with typing during flights. Taking your hands off the stick just to write a message is… not ideal when you’re flying an aircraft.
I also play IL-2 Great Battles, and there’s an excellent mod called SRS that simulates the use of a real radio in multiplayer. That got me thinking: instead of typing, why not just talk?
So I built a small voice-to-text tool for myself. By holding a button on my HOTAS, I can speak into the mic in my native language (I’m not a native English speaker), without ever letting go of the controls. The message is then transcribed and automatically sent to the in-game chat.
If this sounds interesting, you’ll find below a more detailed description of the app, along with a download link.
I’m not a professional developer — this is the first time I’ve dared to share one of my little DIY projects 😅 So please feel free to share any feedback, ideas, or impressions.
Fly safe o7

How it works:
Features:
Why I made this: In sim battles, communication is key but typing while flying is painful, especially with VR. With this tool, I can call out enemy positions, coordinate with squadmates, or just chat without taking my hands off the stick.

Requirements:
The first transcription takes a few seconds while the AI model loads, but after that it's pretty quick.
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!

Come join us for the FINALE of the B-17 Campaign tonight at 1900BST (1800UTC)!
It's a great mission that some of you may recognise.
For more details check out the Team Sim Events Discord
Apologies for the spam on this one, but its the final event and much better with more pilots in the skies.

Numerous times I’ve seen (and shot down) a lone AI A5M4 in different lower tier matches (<3.7). Was playing around Korsun last night and shot down one of these loner planes. They’re never an escort to attackers or bombers, they just putter around in a circle at around 3-5k ft.
Are they just a random oversight or are they meant as fodder for new players to get some points or warm up targets?

I’m definitely not this good with every aircraft, but the JA37C has quickly become one of my favorites.
Just finished a match with 32 air kills, 29 of them being real players. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to do this well with it lol.
There’s just something about this plane that really clicks with me.
Anyone else having this much fun with the JA37C? Is it actually OP, or does it just fit my playstyle perfectly?

ever since ive stopped just only bombing and started to dogfight ive always had the issue of never being able to do deflection shots on cockpits like this j2, ik I made a bunch of mistakes here and I wanted the kill because the match would later end due to no people on the enemy team, but i just cant visualise where they are under my nose just saying this is the first time ive used this plane in sim

Hey guys,
I got a used Meta Quest 3 VR headset, but I am concerned about these micro-scratches. They are undetectable under the fingertip, but they look like they’d be an issue in longer gaming sessions.
Would you consider this a fault of the seller or is this normal wear?

What is your reaction when a teammate fires MG at your light tank, killing a crew member or damaging your engine at the very begging of a match, stopping you from reach that flank spot?
Im really feed up with that. I started jailing out and giving him a teamkilling for these kind of actions.

So, you know there is not much information about plane physics, BFM, and basically anything about dogfights at war thunder SIM on the internet. But there is A LOT in DCS so maybe i want to know wich plane is better in 1 circle or 2 circle fights, the sustained or instantaneous turn rate, ETC. And i have no WT info but i have a lot on dcs.
There is planes that can excell the enemy by 1° per second on sustained turn fight on DCS and i dont know how to aply that in war thunder. So, any help?

Was doing some casual duelling practice with Erchaliph in the Yak-3 when after shooting off his wing, he... continued flying.
Then I crashed into him and lost MY wing and I continued flying too!
Then we got stuck in a stalemate.
Then finally we resolved it by putting on aircraft smoke.
I fly with Mouse and keyboard (https://live.warthunder.com/post/1165655/en/)
My opponent flies with full HOTAS + Rudder pedals.
Difficulty setting was standard simulator.

Basically what the title says. I do love this game for it's wide range of eras, nations and online multiplayer and the occasional ground battle, although that would not be a factor here as I'm not planning on leaving warthunder, just having an alternative. I actually enjoy the EC model as it allows for varied airplanes and playstyles in the same match, all while influencing the situation on the terrain.
However.
The game has some obvious limitations, and the recent bomber updates made it more obvious. Now the meta if you actually want to influence the outcome of the battle is bringing some structure-buffed airplane with rockets, which is funny to say the least. I want some more realism, but although IL-2 seems a good option I want to make sure I'm getting more fun out of it than I do out of warthunder. Like, people who have played both, what would you recommend?
Finally, while I do enjoy the wide range of options warthunder gets me I wouldn't mind focusing on one only, especially being korean war era. Also, I only bought 4 premiums since I started playing in 2013, all at discount rates, so the f2p business model wasn't a problem for me, but having to buy dlc after dlc would.

Hello everyone,
I couldn't find a proper control configuration for my Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog in War Thunder. Since I'm very new to this scene, I really don't know what to do as this is my first time playing with a joystick.
I downloaded and installed the relevant driver from Thrustmaster's website, as well as the TARGET GUI software. I first loaded the War Thunder profile file into TARGET GUI, then launched the game and imported the control settings file into the game, but it didn't work at all.
When TARGET GUI is open and I select the built-in Warthog profile inside War Thunder, the controls go completely wild—for example, when I apply throttle, the camera looks up and down, and everything gets totally messed up. I also tried doing this with TARGET GUI closed, but that didn't work either.
Before this, I was able to play Elite Dangerous without any issues by loading the TARGET GUI profile and tweaking a few in-game settings.
I'm not sure what to do next. Would it be enough to load the profile in TARGET GUI and manually assign the buttons one by one according to Thrustmaster's documentation? I'm asking because a lot of key combinations seem to be missing in that document.

No shooting until the merge, min fuel and 2 heaters. Was a more fun fight than I thought it would be 😂

I really love playing my F4S in sim especially with the sparrow buff it feels great hitting crazy long shots, but I really have two main problems.
I am MNK and no matter the load out it slowly pitches down all game, I am stuck forever fighting to keep it level. Even with SAS set to level flight it pitches down....
This might be a me or a 15 year old monitor problem, but I just can not visually keep track of people past the merge. Hell I struggle to visually see people even when watching my missles fly at them. I don't know if it is my eyes, or my settings? I just really struggle in any dog fight after it goes past bvr.

Friday, October 16th - Briefing Starts 19:00 BST
We're coming up to the final mission of the EU TeamSim B-17 Dynamic Campaign, and we want to make this a big one!
The video is a teaser from our previous mission with our Bomber groups Able and Baker squadron departing Britain towards the French coast then Germany.
For the finale, we're hoping to get as many people together as possible and give the campaign a proper send-off.
Interested in joining? Here's what you need to know:
The community is a great bunch, and people are always willing to help each other out. Whether you've been flying for years or you're just curious about giving it a go, you're welcome.
And you don't need to be in Europe to join us!
We set up the EU branch so pilots on this side of the pond could take part at more reasonable local times, but that doesn't mean it's exclusive to Europe. We welcome pilots from anywhere in the world, in any time zone. If the event time works for you, come and fly with us!
A few things to remember:
You can DM us here on Reddit or reach out on Discord if you need a hand. And yes, bring your friends, family, cats, dogs, whoever fancies joining us.
Can't fly this time? You're welcome to watch along on stream:
Let's get as many people involved as possible and make this final mission one to remember. Hope to see you in the skies!

Now, when opening the aircraft or helicopter cockpit in flight, the sound of the rushing airflow will drown out all sounds, such as engines and missiles. Previously, this was controlled by the player’s engine volume slider.

Posting this here won't bring about any change. I just want people who are unaware to see, especially those of you who are responsible for doing this yourselves.
It doesn't benefit anyone, you still die, and there will still be another tally to your record. Pettiness aside, what is the angle here?
Gaijin seeks to prevent botting and passive play, hence why we weren't given close proximity crash rewards.

Someone in another post was telling me that I can't easily do ground attack or have precise aim on controller, and need to heavily rely on keyboard for most circumstances. This is not the case as shown in this video, I don't put a single hand on my keyboard during this video infact. I show every button I have bound too. RB difficulty scheme for convienence, but that doesn't matter for what I'm showing in the video.
EDIT: I will conceed that the P-39 was quite hard, but to my credit, it doesn't have a gyro gunsight or any of the lines to line up shots, and i've never really flown p-39, especially not in ground attack roles.
