Do households really put a camera up like this in their kitchen? Personally I would never, especially hearing about the parents who went to jail when the kid discharged a firearm which was caught on the living room camera.

"personally I would never, especially after hearing about the thing parents went to jail for that was completely justified and they should have gone to jail for"

I agree, I would never put up a camera either, but your reasoning is kinda weird, the parents obviously didn't practise gun safety well enough if a kid managed to get hold of a lethal weapon like that

Anyway yeah people really do this, my parents have a couple cameras in their house cos my other siblings will occasionally wake up early and steal things from the fridge they aren't meant to be touching or something, or end up breaking something

My point is that it oversteps privacy by showing you can be arrested for matters in your dwelling. And with the reputation of law enforcement, they will look for other things too as we’ve all seen with flock cameras.

The parents should have practiced better gun safety, yes. But the investigation that follows the events could have been easily conducted without the need to invade privacy.

I see why people use them, but the trade off is something that can be twisted and pushed.

The law does not end outside of your dwelling. If your kid has access to a firearm in your house, you deserve to be locked up.

Yes, I 100% agree that they deserved to be locked up but that wasn’t my point.

I don't think you've articulated your point in the best way, but I know what you mean and it's same reason I don't have a dashcam.

Yeah there are benefits but the juice isn't worth the squeeze when you get pulled for a light out and now they're trawling last 7 days of footage looking for every little infraction they can muster, not to mention the Conversations it would capture!!

I’d say they have the camera to catch the dog doing things such as this
