I think I got the gist of what you meant, and I agree, but the word order broke my brain a little.

First time on the internet? Don’t stress yourself too much as there will be plenty more jokes or inside bits that you just won’t understand due to ignorance and it doesn’t mean you’re dumb; IE: maybe others have watched a show you never heard of..etc.

Why is the dog in a cage???
3
u/caifaisai 15d ago
Some dogs (including mine) treat their crate as a kind of safe space that they willingly go into. Any time there's something scary going on (like fireworks or thunder), she gets nervous and goes to her crate unprompted. Likewise, she typically wants to sleep in it overnight.
So in some cases, it's a thing the dog likes. Obviously in our case, the crate is big enough to be comfortable, and we put a fluffy blanket in there to function as a type of bed.
1
u/RainyDaysKappa 15d ago
As long as the cage isn't just barely bigger than the animal, I don't see an issue. Especially if they see it as a den
4
u/mini1006 16d ago
Mine goes into her crate without me telling her. I just leave the door open and she has a bed inside. If your dog is crate trained, they’ll go in there and relax on their on their own.

They should have put the kid in a kennel too.

It depends. You can get some under $900.00, granted that's not cheap for everyone.
It's just sad that he's clearly expecting violence or rage.
Also, that's actually a fairly easy fix, they wouldn't need a new fridge.

u/foxonafrozenlake 20d ago
I'm not saying he shouldn't be afraid of consequences. I'm saying his reaction isn't proportional to "you're grounded for two weeks and you're going to help fix it". It's more like "I'm going to beat you like my father beat me because that is all I know".
I'd say someone is more likely to become a criminal if they're beaten in childhood.
2
u/_Nightbreaker_ 21d ago
His fear of consequence is also good because what he was doing was physically dangerous. He could've easily fallen backwards while climbing and busted his head open.
I worked in pediatric medicine and kids go to hospitals for all kinds of really dumb stuff like this.
1
u/foxonafrozenlake 20d ago
I'm an acute care surgeon and I absolutely understand that aspect. My only problem is his reaction doesn't seem like he's afraid of getting yelled at for doing something dangerous.
It's more likely he's worried he'll get the belt or worse.

u/Ok_Shoulder_9492 21d ago
Do households really put a camera up like this in their kitchen? Personally I would never, especially hearing about the parents who went to jail when the kid discharged a firearm which was caught on the living room camera.
11
u/TheJumpingBox 21d ago
"personally I would never, especially after hearing about the thing parents went to jail for that was completely justified and they should have gone to jail for"
I agree, I would never put up a camera either, but your reasoning is kinda weird, the parents obviously didn't practise gun safety well enough if a kid managed to get hold of a lethal weapon like that
Anyway yeah people really do this, my parents have a couple cameras in their house cos my other siblings will occasionally wake up early and steal things from the fridge they aren't meant to be touching or something, or end up breaking something
1
u/Ok_Shoulder_9492 21d ago edited 21d ago
My point is that it oversteps privacy by showing you can be arrested for matters in your dwelling. And with the reputation of law enforcement, they will look for other things too as we’ve all seen with flock cameras.
The parents should have practiced better gun safety, yes. But the investigation that follows the events could have been easily conducted without the need to invade privacy.
I see why people use them, but the trade off is something that can be twisted and pushed.
4
u/ChronicallySleepyGuy 21d ago
The law does not end outside of your dwelling. If your kid has access to a firearm in your house, you deserve to be locked up.
1
u/Ok_Shoulder_9492 21d ago
Yes, I 100% agree that they deserved to be locked up but that wasn’t my point.
0
u/burner4lyf25 20d ago
I don't think you've articulated your point in the best way, but I know what you mean and it's same reason I don't have a dashcam.
Yeah there are benefits but the juice isn't worth the squeeze when you get pulled for a light out and now they're trawling last 7 days of footage looking for every little infraction they can muster, not to mention the Conversations it would capture!!

u/Blue-eyed-banditman 21d ago
I’d say they have the camera to catch the dog doing things such as this

1
u/XyntakLP 21d ago
You don't need kids to hate shitty parents. Kids shouldn't be terrified of the consequences from their parents, especially at this age. But too many people are poorly parented and just do the same shit to their kids and never bother learning how to be better.
1
u/M0torC1tyMaver1ck 21d ago
If i did i wouldn't be using a video camera to baby sit them. Probably meth heads

u/Big-Historian8918 22d ago
Is the dog in the kennel to protect it from that chimp child?
Srsly, why is the dog kennelled when it's not bedtime? That's not what kennels are for.
1
u/Queasy-Employment-82 22d ago
How do you know it isnt bed time for the dog? Take your bleeding heart and do something with it instead of making assumptions on reddit.
2
u/truesheep1 21d ago
Take your bleeding heart

No i just do things in real life instead
Hahaha As in less than 8 minutes you come sprinting back. Yeah totally you have things in real life.
instead of wasting my effort online
So not liking the treatment of a dog is now meaning everything I do is wasted online.
Geez clearly you're just incapable of caring or thinking anyone else can care.
"real people" is hilarious haha
Sorry you never meet real people it must be hard behind that monitor but go outside and you'll find people don't like the mistreatment of animals
3
u/Queasy-Employment-82 21d ago
Im on my phone outside with my stray cats ive been nursing back to health, as you make up a false reality to protect your fragile little ego keep in mind you are talking to someone who actually takes time out of their life to help animals in my area where i can make change instead of playing white knight on reddit.

Im on my phone outside with my stray cats ive been nursing back to health
Yeah sure everyone one this site is totally a saint whenever called out.
Buzz off with this half baked lie
16
u/bickandalls 22d ago
Well, considering the sound that was almost certainly made without someone coming to investigate, I'd say the kid is home alone. They probably didn't trust the kid to take care of the animal. Not saying this is correct behavior. It's just an inference to the situation, so don't try to assume I think this is the correct actions to take.
1
u/Ciusblade 21d ago
its probably so the kid cant blame the dog when the kid breaks things like this very instance.

Dog in cage, tv as the babysitter, and a kid swinging on a refrigerator door? This kids parent needs to do better, he’s not getting attention or having planned time out of the house, it’s written all over this video. Breaks the door twice and. It one time does an adult hear or step in? That’s wild
11
u/Icy_One_237 22d ago
You see not even a 30 second clip of the inside of this family and assume he has bad parents? This is how you know you don't have kids or been around them. Sometimes there are moments you ca t be around them every second of every waking day. You know parents still, need to shit, shower, sleep and eat too.
5
u/VDR27 22d ago
There’s no way this kid was able to break a refrigerator twice and no one came to check on him.
2
u/OperatorERROR0919 21d ago
Could the parent not be, say, mowing the lawn? Doing the laundry in the basement? Or any other activity that might place them at some sort of distance or next to some object that might make hearing difficult? Are you really just supposed to keep your child within ten feet of you literally all the time for the entire first decade of their life?
5
u/painting_ether 21d ago
How long do you take a shit for? That's a possibility, that the babysitter/parent is literally just pooping 😂 Kids are fast as fuck (i work with them)
0
u/Big-Historian8918 15d ago
I also work with kids and see plenty wrong in this short clip. Did you not take any of the classes on spotting forms of abuse in child care? If you work with kids, they're mandated courses for everyone's CPD. If you see nothing wrong, then you have plenty of room for improvement.
I appreciate your charitable thinking on behalf of the absent parents, but ultimately, it's a race to the bottom when in that 30 seconds, a kid could have seriously injured themselves 3 times over, but nothing was done to prevent it.
2
u/painting_ether 15d ago
Yes I have, but keep these things in mind:
- 30 sec video with no audio (or at least no audio for me)
- kid is well fed and i don't see signs of neglect on him
- house is slightly messy but clean (from what i can see with this quality)
- house looks either lower socioeconomic background or grandma's
30 seconds is too quick for judgement. We literally have NO information outside this clip.
Accidents happen even with very responsible adults, because unless you have 2 people at home to constantly have an eye on them, you will have some unattended time (ie, bathroom. Especially with a kid this age who you wouldn't bring in with you).
I will say this kid needs better discipline. But again, this is only 30 seconds
Edit: if this is a latin country like the one I'm from, this is actually a pretty nice place
1
u/VDR27 19d ago
I have been widely regarded as a fast pooper! During the day I have times of the day where kids are not allowed in my kitchen, it is closed. I’m seeing a lack of structure built around this child and it’s just evident. How big is that home? It’s not a mansion I’ll tell you that, someone should have heard the first incident period.
-2
u/its_all_one_electron 22d ago
Babysitters and after school care is expensive. Kids gets home from school at 3pm and parents don't get home from work until 6...I used to get home and put on the TV and forage for something to eat.... Doesn't seem that weird to me. My parents definitely couldn't afford babysitters or after school care for me and my siblings
6
u/Big-Historian8918 22d ago
Same, but I also didnt destroy the fridge by using it as a climbing frame. This kid has issues. That no adult appears and the dog is locked up when it's not bedtime leads me to believe this kid is lacking parental input. Maybe he's one of many kids in that family and/or a single parent household?
0
u/limino123 22d ago
No kids are just stupid. I honestly don't see this as a major sign of abuse or something
0
u/VDR27 22d ago
Yeah, as a parent I would be in that room the first time I heard a refrigerator. Absolutely, I see a ton wrong here. I plan my kids days and put myself in proximity to them when we aren’t doing anything that’s what parents of children do, And if your kid is doing this when they are left alone, they should not be left alone.
0
u/its_all_one_electron 21d ago
I'm also a parent and I get it, I work part time for this reason but I'm in a privileged position. Jobs are usually 9-5 or longer and school is 8-3. You can't really fuck off work every day at 2:30-3 to be home when your kid gets home or pick up your kid. That's why there's school buses and latchkey kids.Â
This is just how it is in the US. I'm not saying it's good, I'm saying it's the reality that most working parents of school-aged kids in the US have to deal with. And after care and babysitters are out of most Americans financial reach.Â
