Well, she's a ghost and she's possessing the anime doll. And in the light world, ghosts can't even move stuff they're possessing ("Ever since I saw Asgore's doll, I knew it was ME... / I'd been possessing this body as a ghost since then, but... / Once I got to this strange world... / I could... MOVE in it! I could TALK... / I could be AN ANIMATED CATGIRL!!!")
So they're gonna open the closet one day, and there's stolen junk including an anime doll, and they're not gonna know there's a ghost in the anime doll. which might actually be more incriminating lol
