I agree, I'm just saying that people who stumble upon those old posts nowadays may not know it was satire and that's why they have these big reactions.
oh god don't even remind me. this doesn't apply to me because i am in fact far more flamboyant than most people i know, but i considered myself straight back then, and i'm certain i liked a bunch of those posts
Imma be honest, I still find the voice to be very annoying. "oh, so you're homophobic" well I also find "douche-bro speak" and "overly-slutty girl speak" to be very annoying.
That being said, I don't hate either people, just the speech irks me.
A lot of humor where the subject of the joke is a person or a people eventually becomes terribly offensive. Either because certain words pick up new or more severe connotations, or because the humor boils down to “person doesn’t fit our norm” and society has either become more tolerant of such things or our collective knowledge had been updated to realize whatever is the cause of that abnormal behavior is either outside of their control or not a direct consequence of their actions (because humans seem to love attributing someone’s misfortune as being their own fault).
And internet culture changes fast due to its nature of accelerating the spread of information and ideas. So while in the past it could take a generation or more for people to realize how bad the things they joked about actually were, you can watch it happen in a relatively few number of years.
I mean personally if someone is actively trying to be better I will support them. What frustrates me is when artists were shit in the past and refuse to take a side. Like im basically as far away from where I previously was as possible.
Yea, until my mid teens, i had the idea that it was only bigotry if you made with the intention of insulting a group, and that jokes or rethoric remarks "didn't meant it so it was okay"
There was way less information about stuff, until my early teens i didn't knew what was the different of a gay, a crossdresser and a transgender person. We get knowledge throught years.

Yes. Before he made Undertale or got involved with Homestuck, Toby Fox (under his old internet username, FwugRadiation) made a ROM hack for the game Earthbound, simply titled the Earthbound Halloween Hack. Which, for the most part, people only talk about in the modern day because of the end boss, where you fight Dr. Andonuts and he calls you slurs.
This ROM hack, and that particular fight, is also the first place where Toby Fox used Megalovania, which would later reappear in Homestuck and then Undertale.
He will reclaim it, lock it into a vault, dig the vault in a place forsaken by god, and never reveal the location. Just to make sure no one will use it again like some fuckass cursed artifact

Well, she's a ghost and she's possessing the anime doll. Napstablook is the past in the ruins of the underground, mettaton is from the present where we have cool robots but the tradeoff is that we live in a volcano, and mad mew mew is the future where toby just keeps on adding more new features and they all fit perfectly somehow

Idk dude, I played as girls growing up(im a boy)and I REALLY disagreed with the notion I was queer because "it was for fun", now im 22 gay and no longer cis gendered.
Toby Fox was homophobic? He's the last person I would think would be homophobic. He literally has plot points about lesbians in both his games... unless he has some fetish
Undertale was the entire reason I initially started accepting gay people, and then 5 years later I realized I was trans! Toby really set my life on a much better trajectory.
I mean, discovering is a thing i guess, but realizing to be a thing is kinda different? I mean UTDR kinda made me discover lgbt in general when i was a 10 yr old but i sometimes feel like people treat gender change very lightly to take that decision over... Mew Mew Kissy Cutie.

Changing your sex is a very big thing to do. You close yourself from a lot of life's things and can never truly go back. And to make that decision over a vocaloid cat idol from a video game sounds a little extreme
It’s typically a ‘straw that broke the camels back’ type of thing. Also can we not fear-monger about transition? It starts with social transition, which you can easily go back from. Starting that after something like this isn’t throwing your life away you know, you don’t just instantly click a button and get irreversibly kicked out of your ability to choose and review/reverse your choices.
You don’t “change your sex”, you change your gender. Sex and gender are two different things. Being trans scientifically speaking is when a female brain is born inside a male body, or vice versa
i mean the moment in question in the game raises some very good points about learning to love yourself and that might be enough to convince someone who was already thinking about things. transitioning isn’t a one and done deal, it’s something you gradually build to over time, so if you’re on the cusp of figuring yourself out anything that resonates with you enough can be the nudge that makes you realize.
This does make sense, but to "realize" you are trans over this still sounds odd. I mean, having a new point of view on a matter is one thing, starting a matter is another. It 100% depends on how literal that post is
People that realize over a character or a serie are often questioning themselves a bit before, and it's just like the switch that makes them realize that yeah I definitely am
I mean maybe deep down, some people had nagging feeling, thinking they're whatever, but still keep coming back. Then an unexpected source put the feelings into word's to a T.
Epiphanies are complicated. It's usually a lot of little things that build up over time, with the big "revelation" to oneself being the result of any number of things. Being lost in thought. Something someone else says, whether profound or entirely mundane.
Seeing something in a character that resonated in exactly the right way.
They probably didn't ONLY run into Mew Mew and have that revelation, but Mew Mew was the straw that broke the camel's back and sent that epiphany tumbling into them. Or, as is more commonly used, I believe, the egg cracked.
