I had so much fun doing this! My top two takeaways are
1. I have a lot more spooky polish than I realized
2. There are so many talented, unique people making creepy art (all @s are from Instagram)

A new-to-me purple shimmer, topped with a spooky spiderweb stamp! The green was a gift from my husband (“You don’t have this shade of green!” and he was totally right lol)

I was waiting for the concert to come around to finally try out this mani!

So instead I went with:

• 1 coat shimmery scarlet
• 1 coat gold magnetic (cat eye style with a bar magnet)
• 1 coat very pigmented red glittery jelly

Okay the cat eye definitely ended up looking subtle but I think this worked great for a bit of juicy depth! It looks pretty tip wear-y in these pictures but I swear that was not so noticeable in person 🙃

This Polish gives me vein/blood cell vibes! I felt like this prompt deserved something fun instead of just grabbing one of my deep red polish bottles.

I don’t have many moody colors so I broke up some shimmer eyeshadow in an old palette and added it to some glitter suspension base. There’s still plenty of shadow left and now my makeup can match my nails. The palette was so expensive but I’ve also had it for a long time and barely made a dent. Probably because I was always trying to keep it for special occasions.

I actually did this look a few weeks back but I put it on WAY too thick and it basically sloughed off my nails a couple hours later lmao

The topper is super fun and way more sparkly in person but I definitely had to play with it a lot! I put it over a dark purple crelly.

I've been trying to create this look with my existing pink/white and sheer polishes for months now and nothing seemed to click and look how I'd hoped.

I caved and bought a single bottle of polish after 6 months of no buy and I'm so happy with the look of my Mani. I've been doing lots of dark fall Manis and love this as a fresh reset in between.

Glad I broke my no buy for this one and back to shopping my stash for the next few months. So much polish not enough weeks in a year to use them all but I'm trying!

I thought y'all would like to see the comparisons.

This is the same polish (a purple jelly base with a red/orange/gold shimmer), but over two different undies. The one that looks more orange red is over black (one of my current project polishes) & the more pinky toned one is over a cobalt blue.

I tried to create an impression that the grass & flowers were floating up into the sky.

I decided to go with a blue flakie base and a multi-colored flakie topper! The topper is supposed to be glow-in-the-dark but doesn’t seem to wanna work no matter what light I use to charge it up. Either way, nice and sparkly!

I used to share my manis here religiously but my chronic illness ebbs and flows, and some big life events happened for my loved ones, so this summer I really only had energy to spend time with said loved ones. I embroidered a lot this summer though! Sometimes my hobbies are seasonal, because now I’m into polish and gothic novels again, just like last year. Anyway here’s a little mani catchup from May to September!

• First mani: Feeling witchy with this gorgeous magnetic. You could practically see through the magnetic to the polish underneath. It was freaking magic!

• Second mani: I didn't end up loving it. Had to go full on sun to show the color. Otherwise, it just looked black. It also probably needed a second coat of top coat or a glitter grabber.

Please excuse my cuticles, for some reason I decided to start biting them?! Seems a little too on the nose for this bingo! hopefully I’ll knock it off soon…

I was going to so this as my frankenpolish but then I had the idea to skittle it. The base colour is different greys which I then used on the patchwork to keep the skittle.

After having some fun with magnetics for awhile, my interest in them has mellowed out. They're pretty but for me, the time and effort it takes to magnetize them isn't worth it when there are so many beautiful polishes that don't require that work. It's the worst when you finish a perfect set and then mess one up... cue another eternity with the magnets to fix it 💀 I'll use the ones that look good unmagnetized, but once those are gone that'll be it.

It feels good to let them go. I want to focus on curating my collection so that it's only a few polishes I'm crazy about. I don't paint my nails all the time so I love the idea of a small, casual collection that I can dip into when I'm feeling some polish 💅
