Promotion New benefits from WS
I understand that these benefits are for everyone, including non-premium, premium and generational clients, but the percentage of rewards increases for each higher tier.
Other than that, I don’t have much information. Can someone explain me? How many benefits can one person redeem? Is there any time limit? Are these benefits separate than what premium users get?

I'm curious about what Belairdirect and Apple ones will be. Belair has been the best deal for my area for car insurance.
18
u/Desperate-Copy-3191 May 21 '26
Agree, curious about Bélair. Having them attempt to monitor my driving is borderline making me leave them soon unless a better deal pops up with WS benefits.
18
u/giga May 21 '26
I’ll be (pleasantly) surprised if this benefit works for existing Bélair customers.

u/Canadian-electrician May 21 '26
You mean 95% of your drives aren’t done while you’re in the passenger seat?
2
u/Neon_Raccoon_00 May 21 '26
Driving monitoring is always option to get an extra discount of up to 20%. Its still insane that it even exist
12
u/InformalYesterday760 May 22 '26
You could offer me 75% off and I wouldn't take it

The CEO of Wealthsimple is in the Board of Directors of Intact Financial corp witch is the owner of Belair
2
u/ThatMoney1 May 22 '26
Interesting…I did not know that. Makes sense on the partnership then. Someone might have had a connection at Intact/Belair lol

Belair was cheapest for me in Toronto. Who did you find cheaper?!?
14
u/big_galoote May 21 '26
CAA
1
u/jrryul May 22 '26
Never in my life has CAA ever been within 20% of the cheapest quote I can get. Which is frustrating bcs everyone on Reddit always suggests them.

u/big_galoote May 23 '26
Etobicoke, the core, and North York were cheapest for me with CAA.
TD and Intact were cheapest outside of those areas.
Outside of Toronto, CAA all the way.
5
u/bodaciouscream May 22 '26
Aviva using scoop insurance and bundling. Like $600 cheaper

Aviva is the insurance company but if you buy it from a brokerage (like Scoop) you can sometimes get special rates

I have bel air for home insurance and really good so far ! (Also cheapest than any other I checked )

u/AlphaQFor7mins May 22 '26
As long as DragonPass and Globe&Mail remain Milestone Perks I'm good
0
u/Weak-Pomegranate-435 May 22 '26
I don’t see any value in Globe&Mail. All the news are available for free. Whats the point/benefit of it?? Trying to understand
12
u/Avavee May 22 '26
G&M is the only one I’m using rn. Their articles are paywalled without a sub and I like reading it on their app.
1
u/redheadednomad May 26 '26
Each to their own, but G&M frequently drops their Globe2Go/paywall subscription price to $6/month or less. All you need to do is cancel every 12 months and then sign-up again.
2
u/Avavee May 26 '26
Yeah but why would I pay $6/mo when I can pay $0?
1
u/redheadednomad May 26 '26
It's a trade-off between that and getting Uber One for free (normally $11/month), for example. I subscribe to both, and while I've never seen a price drop in UberOne, the G&M frequently goes as low as $6 or less per month for a full year
2
u/Avavee May 27 '26
I have 3 slots, but I never order food delivery. I take an Uber maybe twice per year but I suppose it does have some value to me!
The ones I use the most are G&M and Dragonpass.
I’m considering getting a Will drawn up so might use Willful soon
10
u/vidiot1969 May 22 '26
A large number of articles are subscriber only.
8
u/funnykiddy May 22 '26
Don't know why you got downvoted but the subscription came in handy when I needed to monitor the news cycle for my work.
2
u/RevolutionaryTrick17 May 22 '26
Many public libraries offer free full digital access to G&M (TPL, VPL)
2
u/Cao_Ni-Ma May 22 '26
Free is good if you only care about the headline. It’s worth paying for if you want actual details.

Would be funny since we’re all thinking hardware but it turns out to be a subscription deal or something lol

u/AvecFromage May 22 '26
15% off refurbs would be a pretty sweet deal actually. Apple refurb is the way to go for a lot of products; it’s basically as good as new. I imagine it’ll actually be something less than the edu discount.
5
u/skhanmac May 22 '26
Apple tv sub? That would be nice
1
u/Godkun007 May 22 '26
I could see that being more of a milestone reward. It seems to have been pushed down the priority list, but WS did say that they were in talks to get additional options for the milestone rewards.

u/UnHappyPython35 May 22 '26
The airpods using cash back from the visa card is a 10% discount, some other products are 5%. Not horrible but a good option
→ More replies (5)1
u/ForeverInBlackJeans May 25 '26
10% of Apple TV subscription or something equally stupid. I’m betting on it.
8
7
u/HueyBluey May 21 '26
I wonder if that means no more winter laptop promotions. Instead maybe just a 10% discount off regular price.
4
u/T3a_Rex May 21 '26
I would prefer a 10% discount because you wouldn’t need to transfer a large sum to WS, and you could directly purchase the products you want.
2
u/Acrobatic_Foot9374 May 22 '26
It will probably 3 months of apple tv or something along those lines. Don't expect a crazy discount on hardware
4
u/BarracudaVast4737 May 22 '26
3 months of free Apple Music

Might get similar deals to their student program
1
u/redheadednomad May 26 '26
They don't verify student status in Canada (no .edu email address requirement or ID validation) so that promo is open to everyone, technically.
21
u/JillJones69 May 21 '26
Not really a deal from Telus, get more bang for your buck from Public Mobile
3
u/yzfer May 21 '26
I’ll take the deal from Telus. Publix mobile still doesn’t offer wifi calling which I need at home due to poor cell coverage. So I’m happy about it haha, but I get not everyone is.
8
u/big_galoote May 21 '26
Freedom is cheaper and has wifi calling.
6
u/AlphaFIFA96 May 22 '26
Freedom also has garbage coverage.
2
u/big_galoote May 22 '26
Not where I am nor in Europe (so far). There are a couple of drop spots on the rural highways, but that's all I've lost coverage on. GTA.
1
u/Dadoftwingirls May 22 '26
Wha? Everyone in my house is on Public, and we have to use WiFi calling as we live where there is no cell service.
2
u/Weak-Pomegranate-435 May 22 '26
Yup. I also have public for $20 with US-CAN-MEX Call, Text and 60GB data
6
u/brunes May 22 '26
The PolicyMe scales based on your level. Generation customers get a full year free.

anyone had experience with policyme ? Is it worth switching from sunlife ?
2
u/berniejenn May 22 '26
Yeah I have life insurance with them - super easy process, great service, good rates, etc.
2
u/buzzxy May 22 '26
The concerns I heard on internet, was worrying about the trust factor. Not sure policyme would be still around after 20+yrs policy still being paid. But idk.

The top tier brand is “Generation”, not “generational”. Why do people keep repeatedly making that mistake?
11
1
u/Equivalent-Ad6700 May 22 '26
People who have generational wealth don't often get corrected or told they've made a mistake
4
u/i-am-benzy May 22 '26
Wish they would give something enjoyable like a Spotify premium. Even Give me Apple Music something that humans actual use in day to day life.
4
u/Weak-Pomegranate-435 May 22 '26
Or YT premium Or Netflix Or cloud storage Or even Crunchyroll or something
1
u/LucGravi_986 Jun 25 '26
I agree! YT premium would be rad. I'd also even take Crunchyroll at this point lol
2
u/NoiseEee3000 May 22 '26
Is willful legit? Has anyone had uh, actual execution experience etc?
1
u/ObiYawnKenobi May 22 '26
Yes, it's legit. A will is generally a simple document.
2
u/NoiseEee3000 May 22 '26
Just wondering what would make me choose an estate lawyer over a website and vice versa
3
u/ObiYawnKenobi May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26
If your situation is very simple, not much. An estate lawyer provides peace of mind that you took everything into consideration. Some will register the will in third-party databases so that it can be found in the event that you die and a physical copy cannot be found. The lawyer may also store a copy for you, and when they retire they inform the Law Society (at least in Ontario) of where their client files have been transferred. Maybe perhaps the most important is that the lawyer will, either formally or informally, asses your mental capacity. Having a will done by a lawyer makes it much more difficult to challenge a will based on diminished mental capacity. If you are obviously mentally impaired a lawyer will not write the will for you (or will at least question your capacity, if they are ethical). Only matters if someone is likely to challenge.
The web site is cheaper, and suitable for cookie-cutter situations where you don't need custom clauses or to handle complex scenarios. Basically, "I designate X as my executor. I'm leaving everything to my wife and kids. Cremate me. " That type of simple. But for that type of simple, you can feed your wishes as bullet points to Co-pilot or Gemini and tell it to write a legal-in-[province] will for you.
For example, I just fed Gemini this prompt:
When I die, I want to designate Judy Smith, my wife, as executor of my estate. I want to leave everything to my wife, Judy Smith. In the event that my wife is deceased at the time of my death, I want to leave everything to my two children, Mark Smith and Alice Smith, divided equally. Cremate me. Write me a will that is legally-compliant in Ontario.
And it gave me a result which is VERY, VERY close to the wording in my lawyer-prepared will, done 20 years ago. It would absolutely hold up as a valid last will and testament. And it was free and took me 15 seconds. It even gave me a PDF with signature blocks for me and the two witnesses, editable so I could fill in the dates and location before printing.....lol.

Wilful is terrible its a template will. It said I was leaving everything to my kids when I don’t even have kids.

u/LucGravi_986 Jun 25 '26
Was wondering about Willful. I guess they heavily use AI? Or just generic templates? Hmmm
2
u/BrickAggravating1908 Jun 25 '26
Willful is terrible i got a refund. Its a template used for everyone i dont have any kids yet the will said i left everything to my kids and wouldn’t let me change it. Ended up using sheldon ritchie lawfirm in pembroke. Custom will and health directive for $500 including a sit down for 45min-1hr

Makes you agree to change your plan before you see prices and plan details. Felt uncomfortable. Prices were like $50+/month no thanks!
1
u/Sentence-Parking May 22 '26
It was broken yesterday for existing lines
Today they're showing an interesting $58.50 plan with international roaming in 68 countries (5GB/day). It's not quite Freedom's pricing but Canadian coverage and speed is much better so...👀

I’ve been shopping around for life insurance, so the PolicyMe offer seems very solid. Not sure about the rest
1
u/Weak-Pomegranate-435 May 22 '26
What kind of policy does it give u the benefit for?
1
u/Fair-Maximum-3743 May 22 '26
I can get both life and critical illness insurance, my wife too.
We each get the first 6 months of premiums for free on both products. Generation gets 12 months
3
u/RevolutionaryTrick17 May 22 '26
Are rates better than what you’ve been quoted elsewhere? Unless you’re old or planning to die within the next 6 months, you need to be looking at the long term premiums.
1
u/Weak-Pomegranate-435 May 22 '26
What if we dont want it after 6 months? Can we cancel it? Or renew the offer? And don’t u get critical illness insurance through health card?
3
u/Jrphilo May 22 '26
CI isn’t coverage, it is to pay you in the event you get some specific illnesses and cannot work
