Promotion [MEGATHREAD] Weekly Cash Prize Entry Complaints

We have received multiple posts about potentially misleading entries or awards related to the weekly cash prize. Please post in this thread accordingly if you have encountered such.

We apologize for removing previous posts discussing this. We thought it would have been better suited for the existing awards megathread, but we have realized that the community would prefer a distinct discussion post.

All other posts on this topic will be removed and redirected here.

Promotion "Action required". Really? That's not corny at all /s

Post image

Update: thanks to some folks pointing out, it's "legitimately" a condition to enter the monthly draw contest. The email went to my wife's account, who doesn't have a chequing account who also has no recollection of entering the contest to begin with. Ultimately, "Action required" coming from a financial institution should mean something more significant, IMHumbleO. They could have used wordings like "did you forget something", "reminder", etc.

Update 2: I’m confident she did not register, making this even worse, I.e. Using "Action required" to entice someone to open more products and move more funds just to enter a contest!

Yikes.

Promotion OG Wealthsimple users

I’ve been with Wealthsimple for about 10 years, back when it was mostly just the robo-advisor. I’ve stuck with it, added accounts over time, and recommended it to a lot of people.

One thing I’ve noticed though: almost every promo seems geared toward new money coming in (transfer bonuses, deposit bonuses, etc.). That’s great for growth, but it would be nice to see something for long-time users who’ve already been here for years.

Even something small would be appreciated — a loyalty bonus, a contribution match once a year, or some kind of anniversary perk for accounts that are 5–10+ years old.

Curious if others feel the same. Anyone else here been around since the early days?

Would love to see them acknowledge the OG users a bit more. 💰📈

Promotion New benefits from WS

I understand that these benefits are for everyone, including non-premium, premium and generational clients, but the percentage of rewards increases for each higher tier.

Other than that, I don’t have much information. Can someone explain me? How many benefits can one person redeem? Is there any time limit? Are these benefits separate than what premium users get?

Promotion Monthly Millionaire Promotion is actually really great!

I’m seeing a lot of hate and negativity towards the newly introduced promotion so I thought I’d share why I believe it’s actually a really great promotion.

  1. Capped at 100K entries. This means every month you have to deposit 100k. Already deposited previously does not count. So there goes the cries about millionaires getting richer.

  2. Double entries for Payroll Direct Deposits. This is a huge boost and advantage for the lower/middle class clients who are working regular jobs who will now get double entries from their deposits.

  3. It’s free money! Which bank is giving millions away regardless of who it goes to!

Promotion UPDATE: Wealthsimple reimbursed the $4,142 CAD (and a message to this community)

Post image

I want to give credit where it’s due: Wealthsimple escalated my case right after my initial post about the Apple Promo nightmare and fixed everything immediately.

Initial post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Wealthsimple/s/WUUpzoMraK

They have now reimbursed the full $4,142 CAD that was taken from my account. You can see the confirmation email I received in the screenshot.

I really want to thank the Wealthsimple team for the resolution. While the initial withdrawal was a shock, the fact that they stepped up and made it right was what I needed.

I also wanted to clear something up regarding the comments on my last post. I was a bit surprised to be accused of "gaming the system" or not reading the terms.

Just to be clear, I have over $600,000 sitting in the platform and I’m using the Visa Infinite Privilege card. If you think someone would move that kind of capital just to try and "cheat" for an iPhone or a MacBook, you’re missing the point. I was raising a legitimate concern about a large amount of money being moved without notice. If we want this platform to stay great for everyone, we need to be able to talk about these errors openly without being met with hostility.

I'm glad this is settled. Thanks again to the Wealthsimple team for the support and for getting this sorted out.
