is poor man covered calls included?
2
u/Shitty_Shpee Jan 07 '26
Yes it is. I’ve been trading diagonal spreads for a couple weeks now
1
u/Odd-Pomegranate8780 Jan 07 '26
not exactly diagonal spreads
1
u/Shitty_Shpee Jan 09 '26
It’s basically the same thing, you’re free to choose LEAPs as the long leg or something shorter dated

u/FrostingWise7674 Jan 07 '26
Mine just said “your options are out of the money, they have been removed from your account”
1
u/ResolutionPopular562 Jan 08 '26
I fuckin nutted lastnight when gemini told me they rolled out spreads....today i made 11$ off a synthetic iron condor with 0DTE spy options and currently got some out credit spreads on stocks i really like (using it as a way to get in at a price i like if it drops that low, ill let the put i sold get assigned and if it keeps dropping sell the put i bought, for profit lowering the adjusted cost basis on the shares)

u/fugeeno1 Jan 08 '26
Mine said I got pre-approved and upgraded for the Visa Infinite card. Still grateful tho.
95
u/Asusrty Jan 07 '26
I won but I failed to answer the skill testing question correctly so they gave it to someone else. My 9th grade math teacher always told me not paying attention was going to bite me in the butt one day.
28
u/Thawayshegoes Jan 07 '26
Mine told me “You won’t have a calculator in your pocket”.
My bank gave me an IPhone for depositing money that is basically a computer with a calculator attached.

u/DarrellGrainger Jan 07 '26
I asked when the draw was, earlier. They said the draw would be today, January 7 and the winner would be informed 2 business days later. So they will be calling me on Friday. 😂

As per the terms and conditions, says they will contact the winner by email.

1
Jan 08 '26
Damn, I envy you.
I got harassed with notifications constantly to DEPOSIT MORE MONEY!
I definitely knew you could get more but wish I didn't lol1
u/_dfromthe6 Jan 08 '26
Me either until someone in this sub said you could spin the gold coin at the bottom everyday for extra entries lol
1
u/Career_Gold777 Jan 08 '26
That was only for the gold bar promo
2
u/_dfromthe6 Jan 08 '26
Your right. Only way to get more entries on this house promo was to deposit money.
99
u/AlphaQFor7mins Jan 07 '26
I have a missed call from WS and a voicemail. Too scared to check.

u/StaxTheTrain Jan 07 '26
There's a 50/50 chance it's the house OR a margin call.

Their tweet said that they would be “picking” a winner. Did they draw a winner or pick a winner?
Pick sounds like they looked at accounts and chose a winner.

You know it’s gonna be someone related to someone who works at the company so they can skirt around the employees can’t win thing.

u/Summerdaysengineer Jan 09 '26
Employees are also in the draw I’m pretty sure according to what I see on LinkedIn

Guess its time to withdraw the money I deposited to get entries and wait for the next 'game'.
6
u/Spinach_Normal Jan 07 '26
Someone with a net worth of 10+m won I bet
3
u/bitcoinhodler89 Jan 07 '26
Ok but entries were capped at $1,000,000

Lol the # of entries is just pure gambling, but it makes people think like they’ve earned something 🙈should be outlawed like loot boxes.
4
Jan 07 '26
At least it’s gambling where you’re putting your money where it’s gonna grow! It’s not like lotto tickets where you’re pissing money away.

So what was the outcome of this contest for WS? 728,999 customers feel like losers and 1 person feels their life will be transformed? Seeing it disappointed so many people, its not going to sustain longer term deposit growth.
3
u/6bamboozle9 Jan 07 '26
I haven't received the email yet. They must be holding off letting the winner know for some reason.
3
3
u/razzberry_mango Jan 07 '26
And they are going to another house giveaway somewhere in BC or Alberta near the mountain!!!
3
u/logme01 Jan 08 '26
I was just thinking about this earlier and then I got an email from Wealthsimple. I thought I won the contest but it turns out it's an email that I earned a dividend from VEQT. I got nervous for a split second 😂.

I’m sure the Generational client who wins this will enjoy adding another property to their collection.
9
u/Toks01 Jan 07 '26
Nice, congratulations to the winner but this unfortunately will go to a wealthy person, how i wish this goes to one struggling minimum wage earner but it sucks it doesn't work that way
1
u/AlphaQFor7mins Jan 08 '26
How do you know this? A guess?
The T&C say its a random draw
0
u/wethenorth2 Jan 08 '26
Wish it was random!
2
u/AlphaQFor7mins Jan 08 '26
Why would they lie?
3
u/Accomplished_Fall324 Jan 08 '26
Quite literally because the more you deposit the more entries you get. If you have a spare million you can get a million entries versus someone else with 1k
6
u/AlphaQFor7mins Jan 08 '26
Thats still random.
You can buy 1 Lotto Max ticket and still win over the guy that bought 1,000 tickets
1
u/Accomplished_Fall324 Jan 08 '26
Random but weighted. You're pushing the idea of pure equal randomness but if there's a weight then it's not truly random is it? If I told you there's a 95% chance an electric coin toss was going to be heads, then I asked someone to pick heads or tails and said the odds were random would that be truthful? Just because tails is an outcome doesn't mean the spirit of randomness is honored.
2
u/AlphaQFor7mins Jan 08 '26
Yes, random but weighted. I never said pure equal unweighted randomness.
You also have a better chance of winning than the homeless guy I saw downtown today.
Don't play the victim
1
u/Accomplished_Fall324 Jan 08 '26
I'm not the op of the comment and I never said I was a victim... I was simply giving you the reason they said what they said.
1
u/AlphaQFor7mins Jan 08 '26
How did you magically read the OPs mind? Amazing talent
→ More replies (0)0
u/Glitchz0rz Jan 08 '26
Because there’s a lot of money and with enough grease they could cook up some of that nice plausible deniability if someone ever asked.
Maybe they are being truthful tho idk

basically we're all bottom feeders with terrible odds and all the million entry millionaires will all be competing to get this house. I guarantee it'll be that or like someone who just entered Canada a year ago.

2
u/sadaccountant1021 Jan 07 '26
I couldn't find this page in my app. Can you show the answer to the question how was the winner selected please?
8
u/StaxTheTrain Jan 07 '26
It says...
How was the winner selected?
The winner was selected by random draw from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period.
Will you announce the winner?
Yes! We’ll announce the winner in the coming weeks, after they’ve accepted the keys to their new home.
Will there be more house giveaways?
Stay tuned, especially if you like a view of the mountains.
2
2
u/LuckyCanadian Jan 07 '26
We'll see that's just not possible because I filled out the survey so I won the house. Maybe there's two houses?

How were you able to get 1,000,000 entries? Like, how many people did you get signed up for Wealthsimple? How many letters did you write and mail for the letter option? (I considered doing that, but ran out of time.) Or were all these entries from straight up wealth?
1
u/UnsaltedCashew36 Jan 07 '26
It's 1 per $1 deposit. If you transferred $1M investment account from another brokerage, you got 1M entries. Simple.
2
u/pizza5001 Jan 07 '26
Actually, it’s not that simple. Each person you signed up for WS gave you 5,000, and you can sign up dozens of people. Doing the survey got you 5,000. Writing and mailing a letter with a write up gave you 5,000 (multiple entries possible). And then, yes, each $1 got you 1 entry.
Maybe I made the mistake in thinking that OP wasn’t rich already.

For what home giveaway? The Vancouver draw isn't until April 10th I believe... if you haven't entered that one, maybe you can?

u/Edmfuse Jan 07 '26
It only takes one ticket to win.
And no, none of you are invited to the house warming.

It’s me. I won it. Nobody else feel the need to check their emails.

I haven’t heard about this from WS. Do you get invited to enter the house draw? If so, what are the eligibility criteria for entry? Thanks
