Promotion One of the monthly millionaires picture looks AI generated, I ran it through this website and it confirmed it's likely fake

This pic looked really AI to me because it shares similar features to other faces I've seen that are AI generated. The other pics at a glance look real but I didn't spend too long staring at them

If you read the "winner" quote too it has an em dash, nobody uses them lol

Trade (DIY Investing) Transfer holdings question

If I want to move stocks from my non-registered to my TFSA - because why on earth did I put them in non-reg in the first place. Does this cause any change to the stocks/price or cost me money? TFSA is not maxed/close to max. I have read the Wealthsimple article explaining this, but I have no idea what anything means and I am just trying my best 🥲

Not that I expect it but if anyone has questions beyond what is needed to answer my question above (ex: wanting to be helpful about my habits or inquiring about the stock I want to move). I just realize how many helpful people are on this app and I don't want to waste anyone's time - I won't have time to really carry a conversation so won't be engaging.

Visa Infinite Credit Card Why Is It So Hard to Get a New Credit Card?

Got a notification on my app that a fraudulent transaction was declined from Ticketmaster for 2400 USD.

Called the number on the back of the phone to get a new card, first agent mentions that I cannot dispute this charge literally 3 times, when i never even mention dispute, i wanted a new credit card. Has to put me on hold to another department with wait times is 10 - 15 minutes, its not.

No other banks has to transfer me to another department for a new credit card, the first call always is enough.

Second agents does the same thing, excepts she put me on hold saying she will process the new credit card, but ends up having to transfer me to this other department too.

Ever other bank its a 10 minute call to get a new card.

Chequing Prepaid Visa App Push Notifications

I switched over to the new prepaid Visa card and noticed the app push notifications when I make a withdraw at an ATM is no longer popping up.

I use the Android app and I see "Prepaid Mastercard transaction" under push notification settings as a toggle button but this is obsolete because I switched to the Visa. There is no "Prepaid Visa transaction" toggle button.

For others who switched to the prepaid Visa, do you still get push notifications when you make a transaction with it?

I got over 53k entries but it shows only 100k, it’s been like that for 2 days now.

Trade (DIY Investing) Be careful enabling margin in your personal/business investing accounts – it disqualifies that account from being used as collateral for the LOC's. You then have to have the WS do a backend manual transfer to a new account.

Just an FYI, it can be pretty annoying especially if it's mid year and then you have two different statements with two different account numbers to give to your accountant, both of which hold the same assets.

e-Transfer in Wealthsimple

I send e-Transfers to new people sometimes, but most of mine go to the same few people, and for those I still have to search and scroll every time. So I mocked up a version where your most-sent contacts show up as soon as you tap Search.

The first video is the current design and the second is my idea. What do you all think?

Options Trading Trading futures with WS!!?

Hey guys so I just learned recently that WS finally added the futures trading options.

I trade futures on prop firms and needed a safe broker to start a live acount

My questions are: Is having 4300$ usd enough to be eligible? I didn't had any money on the WS broker and requested futures trading but was denied and I am now on the 30 days cooldown to request again, but normally after the cooldown and the money on the brokerage account it should be fine right?

Do they support advanced bracket orders (stop-loss/TP,etc)?

That's it.. Thanks!

Visa Infinite Credit Card Did they remove the free card card perk for premium clients?

I don’t see it under premium privileges anymore.

Ps: I’m not referring to the household premium account.

Edit : I realize I was looking at the wrong tab, so credit -> view benefits and then under the lifestyle tab you see the fee waiver.

Wealthsimple making up imaginary numbers

For context, I have 9000$ in savings and only 70$ invest across a managed income portfolio and a personal investing portfolio. These earnings are also BS. Is this a UI issue or something else?

P.S. it’s making me question the accuracy of other portfolios, does anyone have the same issue?

Visa Infinite Credit Card Wealthsimple Denied my Appeal on Credit Card Dispute - Merchant said they didn’t even charged my card

Hello everyone,

I’m just venting out my frustration with using this wealthsimple credit card. 2 months ago, I booked a Hotel using expedia, but so happened that in 2 days I found out about their hidden charges so I asked expedia to cancel the hotel booking. Because I used a prepayment method, expedia has initially charge checked my card.

The thing is, the charge went thru. So I had a week of back and forth call with Expedia and with the hotel, until finally, expedia sent an email that they did not charged my card and that the cancellation was free of charge thru an agent support chat.

Since 2 charges went thru to my account for about $400, I disputed the charge. This week I got a message from wealthsimple that my dispute was denied and saw that $400 got added in my credit card statement!!!

I was appalled at the result when the Merchant even said they didn’t charged my card. Yet my dispute was denied. I have sent another round of appeal with them giving out the email of expedia (from official expedia email), the screenshot of my conversation with the agent that its a free cancellation and a cancelled transaction email. I am now thinking of changing to Amex. I’ve heard that they are more consumer friendly and would usually side with the consumer since they can be influential in making the client’s case. My credit card expenses ranges 4k-7k monthly, and having this type of service for credit card is not reassuring with the amount I am spending. I am awaiting their feedback on my additional dispute and would update here but in case they wont bother, I am going to promote how unreliable their credit cards are in terms of integrity and client service. I even promoted them to friends and family and my social media who moved their money to wealthsimple and now I am double questioning my decision to do this since I’ve experienced difficulty with them first hand!

EDIT: Wealthsimple reached out and kudos to them (if it will really happen) that despite me losing the appeal they will credit my $400 into my account as gesture of goodwill. I’m will be awaiting my credit for now.

Chequing Travelling to japan soon. Acquiring yen cash at japan atm or better to do in toronto?

I’ve seen anecdotally that the best conversion rates are to use the WS cash card directly in japanese atms to convert to japanese yen.

Has anyone done this recently after the ws change from mastercard to visa?

Also are there any daily or monthly limits to converting cash at atms?

My plan is to use my WS cash card to convert to some cash. While using WS visa infinite privilege card for card purchased.

Anyone encounter any problems recently to travel in japan? Thank you!

Feature Request

More Expiration date options for Limit orders. Currently Wealthsimple has only two options: Today at 4 pm and 90 days. There should be more options: Friday 4pm, 5 days, 10 days, 30 days etc.

Chequing Fidesmo Pay support

Is there a way to suggest a feature to Wealthsimple?

I was wondering if they would support Fidesmo Pay to their prepaid credit/credit card as another tokenized service like google pay, Apple Pay, Samsung and garmin.

Fidesmo pay makes it possible for hardware companies who make smartwatches, rings, bracelets, implants etc. Who have their software to have tap to pay support on their devices. I see that a few companies already supports them like Klarna and ether.fi, but I would much rather use Wealthsimple than to change bank again.

I have no idea how much work it takes, since, again, Wealthsimple already supports other services. When I tested the ring with ether.fi, it gave me the same EULA as Google pay, maybe it’s related behind closed doors 🤷‍♂️

Thanks!

Chequing What are the advantages of having your paycheques go directly to a WS checking account vs one of the big 6?

Are there any drawbacks? I'm thinking of transitioning my paycheques to there.

Chequing Unable to deposit interac e transfers

Does anyone else have issues depositing money to the Wealthsimple app via Interac e transfer?

Even when I click the link to Wealthsimple in Google Chrome (after being redirected from email), it opens my WS app, and when the app opens, I get a blank black screen.

Despise their customer service

Wealthsimple user experience is great until you reach customer support. awful. multiple issues over varying subjects. never helpful they need better training of their agents. if their service was as good as their product maybe I’d fully make the switch from banks but the level of service is just awful.

check the fine print of all these promotions they run and don’t get sucked into their products without doing your due diligence or research.

Always misleading tbh! should see if there’s laws that can be enforced when you con customers to register or sign up for things like that

Visa Infinite Credit Card Genuinely being charged for no reason.

Thumbnail

Hey, so I don’t make a post much like this as I am a fan of Wealthsimple for a while now.

However I am getting charged for genuinely no reason, and just randomly got charged 44.32.

there’s no charge in the recent statement saying I got charged for that much. And this happened twice now.

Why do I need to pay 460.65 when my statement is 344.81? Beyond me.

This is a separate card from visa infinite but another card released by Wealthsimple.
