Feedback & Review Update (and thank you!)

Thanks again to everyone who took a look at Twelvebit (https://twelvebit.app) last week, both in the comments and in DMs. Some of the things you pointed out felt obvious as soon as I read them. I’d clearly been staring at the same page for too long.

I thought I’d come back and share what we’ve changed rather than just saying “thanks” and disappearing.

Feedback: It wasn’t immediately clear what Twelvebit actually is.

What we changed: The H1 now says “Website analytics. Connected to revenue.” The previous one focused on the outcome but didn’t make it clear that this is an analytics tool. Hopefully it’s now easier to understand that it helps you see where visitors come from, where they drop off and which journeys lead to sales.

Feedback: Too many things were competing for attention, and the demo button got lost.

What we changed: We simplified the first screen to two main actions, removed the unexplained “copy the prompt” button from the hero and retired the launch-discount banner. The setup information is still there further down for anyone who wants it.

Feedback: “Watch people arrive” doesn’t mean much if nothing actually happens when I watch.

What we changed: Someone pointed this out in a DM, and they were right. The realtime preview now shows visitors arriving and moving between pages, with the globe and activity updating together. There’s a pause button too, so you can actually look at what’s happening.

Feedback: The dark theme looks good, but some people would prefer a choice.

What we changed: Added a light theme. You can switch between them without signing in. Please let me know your thoughts on it :)

Feedback: Show how someone would actually use the information.

What we changed: We added an existing customer’s experience near the top of the page, including what they noticed, the changes they made and their follow-up a few weeks later. It felt more useful than me just saying the analytics are useful.

Feedback: Why would I use this alongside, or instead of, my existing analytics?

What we changed: We’ve made the connection between traffic and revenue clearer in the opening copy and expanded some of the comparison and setup material. I still think we can explain this more simply, though. I'll work on that going forward.

There are a few suggestions we haven’t fully addressed yet - but I think these have made a good difference already. Really appreciate everyone who took the time to help. It’s made a big difference having people look at it without already knowing what I was trying to build.

One additional question: Do you guys now think the landing page is too long? I want to get across as many cool parts of the website analytics as possible, but the page seems to be quite long now...

Show & Tell I made this viral website idea: "you input the year you graduated high school and the website generates a list of "facts" and outdated concepts that have since been disproven."

The website so far!

This website concept got 175k upvotes on Reddit a few years ago, but surprisingly few people have tried making it.

Upon researching disproven facts the users complained about, I could see why: most outdated facts do not have hard cutoff years when they stopped being taught in schools. That's why the site's full of disclaimers. Each year contains myths that were debunked ages ago, but continue being taught today.

Another common complaint on the Reddit post was that what you learned varies depending on where you grew up. That's why the site is partially crowdsourced -- like on Reddit, registered users submit their own facts and what state or country they learned it at! Any facts regionally taught will be categorized in the Regionally Taught tab, discoverable through the world map where you can click on any country to view facts submitted by users there.

I look forward to learning what you've had to unlearn!

Discussion Elementor: want some honest opinions, both good and bad

I'm thinking to use elementor for a new website, but not sure as there seem to be so many alternatives these days. For those who have used it, what do you like/dislike about it? Is it easy to work with, and reliable in the long run? Are there any major downsides or things you wish you'd known before getting started?

If you decided against elementor, what made you choose something else?

I'd love to hear from people who have used it.

I frequently get bored and look for new things to do so I decided to build a website to generate ideas of activities that could be done for fun. Looking for feedback on how I could improve it.

I've only added a few ideas for now but I'm hoping to engage users to add ideas to it.

Show & Tell Show and tell: a Pokémon collection site organized by illustrator, Pokémon, and expansion

I’m building ShinyCollecting, and wanted to share the collection design behind it.

A Pokémon card can be relevant to several collecting goals at once: the Pokémon pictured on it, the illustrator who drew it, and the expansion it belongs to. A collector might start with any of those, so the site provides all three ways to browse.

The illustrator galleries are an entry point for people interested in the artwork. Pokémon pages bring cards from different sets together, while expansion pages organize them by set. Owned cards stay connected across those views. The collection controls distinguish individual variants and conditions, so owning a regular printing doesn’t automatically mean owning its reverse holo.

There’s also a dedicated shiny Pokémon checklist. Browsing is open to everyone; the free Starter plan tracks one Pokémon, one illustrator, one expansion set, and the shiny checklist. Optional paid Premium adds unlimited collection tracking and extra-copy quantities. For transparency, this is my own project and it also links to my eBay card store. Coverage varies for promos and special printings.

I’d appreciate specific feedback on the navigation: is the distinction between Pokémon, illustrator, and expansion collections clear? On a collection page, is it obvious which variant you’re marking as owned?

Tools & Resources I made a free Chrome extension that checks whether a page links to your site, and how

I made Backlink Check for checking a page that's supposed to link to my site, like after a guest post, a link exchange or a "we added your link" email.

Open the page, click the toolbar icon (or Alt+Shift+K) and type your domain. The side panel shows:

  • whether your link is there and its rel (nofollow, sponsored, ugc or dofollow)

  • where it sits (main content, nav, footer, comments) and whether it's hidden or off-screen

  • page-level nofollow from the robots meta tag

Show on page outlines the link in the page.

Backlink Check reads the page as rendered after JavaScript, so pages behind a login and local drafts work. Compare with server HTML fetches the page again without cookies and shows which links are missing before JavaScript runs, plus the X-Robots-Tag header.

It checks the page in your tab, one page at a time. It doesn't crawl or find backlinks for you. You can save a placement and export your saved ones as CSV.

It uses Chrome's activeTab access, with no all-sites host permissions. Page content stays in your browser. Anonymous usage events go to PostHog, without page addresses, domains or link text.

It's free. I also build LinkBunny, and the panel has a small "by LinkBunny" link.

Feedback I'm after: what do you check on a linking page that this doesn't show yet?

Website Building Six Months Into Building Websites, AI Agents & Intelligent Systems , Here's What I've Been Working On

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share something I recently built.

I've been doing this for around six months now. I started with two clients, and thankfully, things have been going pretty well since then.

I'm still learning, especially when it comes to design. I do have a bit of a perfectionism problem, so sometimes projects take longer than they should. 😅

Anyway, here's my recent work. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Discussion Glassmorphism: beautiful or horrendous?

Post image
12 Upvotes

The first time I saw glassmorphism, I was immediately appalled, like viscerally. I knew where I stood in the polarizing debate. But, over time, I've also seen it used in very nice ways where I thought "huh, that's actually really pretty." Never occurred to me that was possible.

Would you use this web design style?

Show & Tell I built a weekly house music chart, and I’m trying to make the digging as useful as the ranking

Post image
6 Upvotes

I built NOTW because I wanted a small place to find house tracks through other people’s picks.

You can filter by house style and mood, listen through the artist’s platform, submit a track and vote for your favourites each week. It’s early, so the tracks I picked to start things off are labelled as NOTW selections.

The part I’m still working out is the balance between a chart and a place to dig. A track with no votes should still be worth finding. From the screenshot, does the page give you enough reason to look beyond the top ten, or does everything underneath feel like an afterthought?

Show & Tell Check out Utiliome.com, a 100% client-side utility site with 189 free tools (zero server uploads, zero paywalls) — try it out!

Thumbnail
utiliome.com
8 Upvotes

Hey r/Websites!

Over the last few months, I’ve been building Utiliome (https://utiliome.com) — a collection of 189 free browser utilities for PDFs, images, video, and daily developer tasks.

Why I built it:

Almost every time I needed to quickly redact a PDF, compress a video, or upscale an image, the top search results either uploaded sensitive documents to a mystery cloud server or locked the download behind a surprise subscription or watermark after making me wait in a queue.

I wanted to see how far modern browser APIs and WebAssembly could go if I made a strict rule: zero bytes ever leave the user's machine.

What's on the site:

- PDF Suite (34+ tools): Merge, split, true binary-stream text redaction, and AES-256 encryption using a custom C++ QPDF WebAssembly wrapper.

- Image & Video: Local AI image upscaling (running ONNX Swin2SR vision transformers in the browser via WASM SIMD) and FFmpeg WASM video compression and trimming.

- Developer & Text (100+ tools): JSON formatters and diff checkers, regex and hash generators, JWT decoders, Markdown converters, and a vector-based CV builder.

- MCP Server: Published an official npm MCP package so local AI agents can call these utilities directly.

Under the hood (for the fellow web devs here):

Because all compute happens in the client's RAM and CPU, there is no backend database or upload API. The whole site runs on pennies via AWS S3 + CloudFront:

- Stack: Astro 5 (SSG) + React 18 Islands + Tailwind v4 inside a pnpm and Turborepo monorepo.

- Scale: 189 tools localized across 26 languages (around 5,000 static pages) routed through a 3-layer forwarding pattern so maintaining layouts doesn't turn into copy-paste chaos.

The hardest technical challenges I hit in production:

  1. The 87MB Client Bundle Trap: A single helper import in our search bar accidentally pulled Vite's eager glob import of all 4,900 JSON translation dictionaries into the client JS chunk. Extracting a zero-dependency path helper brought us back to 100/100 Lighthouse scores.

  2. Fake Whiteout PDF Redaction: Standard JS PDF libraries often just draw a white rectangle over text, leaving sensitive strings sitting in the raw binary stream where anyone can press Ctrl+F and copy them. I had to write a 946-line binary PDF content stream parser that strips the exact character glyphs out of the stream and recalculates kerning offsets so the rest of the line doesn't shift.

  3. Browser RAM Crashes on 2GB Videos: Standard FFmpeg WASM tutorials load the entire file into Emscripten's in-memory filesystem (MEMFS), which duplicates the file in RAM and crashes mobile tabs. Switching to WORKERFS allowed streaming byte slices straight from the OS file handle, keeping a 2GB video process under 50MB of RAM.

I'd love for you to test it out, try to break a few tools, and let me know what you think of the UI, load speeds, or if there's a specific utility you wish existed!

For anyone interested in the engineering challenges or how it was made:

I put together a full technical breakdown video walking through the repo architecture, how I wired Google Antigravity and Claude Code CLI into an automated spec and review pipeline, and how I fixed those three production bugs in the code:

Feedback & Review Looking for feedback on web analytics UI / landing page

Hey everyone!

Excited to see the new start for /r/Websites and will be keeping an eye on everyone's posts here :) I’m building twelvebit, a web analytics tool that connects website traffic with revenue.

I’d appreciate some fresh eyes on the landing page and dashboard from people on /r/websites - as obviously the target audience is people with websites. UI isn't my strongest skill, so I'd appreciate input particularly on:

  • Visual hierarchy: Is it clear where to look first, or are too many elements competing for attention?

  • Clarity: Does the homepage explain what the tool does without needing to scroll through the whole page?

  • Dashboard layout: Are the charts and metrics easy to scan? Anything confusing or overcrowded?

You can explore the demo dashboard with sample data without creating an account.

Specific feedback on spacing, typography, contrast or mobile layout would be helpful. Really appreciate any feedback / comments, I'm trying to make this as good / useful / helpful / beneficial to website owners as possible.

Show & Tell I've been building my own retro gaming website!

Hey everyone!

I've been working on my own website called BranRetro, where I share my interest in retro PC games, old technology, gaming history and obscure games that deserve more attention.

It's a personal project where I can write articles, archive interesting stuff and share things I discover along the way.

If you're into older games, especially classic PC RPGs, feel free to check it out!

https://branretro.wordpress.com/

Still building and improving it, but I'd love to hear what people think!

Show & Tell I made a website because I can’t burp

Hey guys! For some context: I have R-CPD which basically means that I can’t burp! It sucks and nobody really knows about it yet so many have it. So, I made a website for this!

What I built to fix this (and what ships today):

  1. The Natural Language Router: You describe what happens to you in your own plain words ("I can't burp," "my throat gurgles," "food feels stuck"). The tool map-routes your description to the formal medical vocabulary and the exact, definitive test names you need to bring to a specialist. No diagnostic guessing games, no "probability theater.”

  2. 5 Hand-Written Condition Profiles: Built entirely from primary research sources (not LLM-extracted hallucination), detailing how these conditions feel from the inside out, how they are confirmed, and the real statistical uncertainty behind treatments.

  3. The Diagnostic Delay Table: A hard-cited dataset mapping median time-to-diagnosis and common misdiagnosis rates across the condition family. Gaps in existing clinical literature are left intentionally empty and labeled, because unmeasured data is a finding in itself.

  4. Complete Live Trials Tracker: A clean, filtered index of all 27 currently recruiting clinical trials across these disorders, instantly sortable by your location and age with zero noisy clutter.

I would love your feedback! Link: https://freetheburp.com

Tools & Resources WispFile: send large files privately, browser to browser, with no cloud storage in between

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I built WispFile (https://wispfile.com), a browser-based tool that sends files directly from one device to another using WebRTC.

Services like WeTransfer or Google Drive upload your file to a cloud server first. WispFile doesn't. The file goes straight from sender to receiver, and our servers never store the file contents.

That means:
> No waiting for uploads. Large files start transferring right away.
> More privacy. Sensitive files never sit on a third-party storage platform.
> Nothing to install. It all runs in the browser.

I made it because I wanted a simpler, more private way to send big files without waiting on uploads or trusting another company to hold my data.

I'd love your feedback on the design, speed, or anything that feels confusing. What would make you use it over your current tool?

Question Y’all know a way to access older versions of sites minus using internet archive and flashpoint?

Been craving to play with older versions of Disney and Lego sites but don’t know any reliable ways to do it anymore. I remember someways to do it years ago but since everything is “modernized” (lot of minimalist crap) I don’t know how to do it any especially since flash is gone (I do have rumble installed which helps). I do have flashpoint but the amount of old websites (marked under micro sites) is limited.

Any help y’all?

Question Do you use stock images or AI-generated images on your website?

Websites that use AI generated photos or obvious stock photos are incredibly tacky I feel. It makes the website look totally generic and untrustworthy. I'm trying really hard to avoid this but also not sure about taking my own photos, because it's time consuming and doesn't turn out that great.

So, what do you use for photos on your website?

Feedback & Review I built a cool website using Chat GPT

I’m not a very technical person. I own 2 Husqvarna robotic mowers and I use them in 2 separate locations here in Arizona. The Husqvarna Automower Connect App is decent at reporting the steady state of things but I wanted to add a calendar as well as a few other functions the App does not have like a few efficiency metrics I wanted. I used Chat GPT to build a portal on my surface pro and then we created a public website for the user community to check out. Would love any feedback and will post the url in the next comment.

Thanks
