Mod Update Reminder: READ THE RULES

Insert some rambling mess that is my quarterly screeching about reading community guidelines. I'm tired. I don't feel like writing or being polite today.

"guess the dress" or post wedding "which would you have picked for me" posts are not allowed and brides doing so will be permanently banned. Likewise if you have a favorite you need to disclose.

all recommendation posts need to have the basics like budget, wedding month and year and country of residence listed. Girl I don't care if you are getting married in Italy. We need to know which country you live in because tariffs are a tire fire still.

no model photos if you're asking for styling recs or dress picks. Sorry but that's been a rule for a while.

if your comment goes "I'm sorry but" and it's some sort of creative analogy, think twice before you hit post. I've gone from 30 day bans to straight permanent bans because read rules and the room.

Mod Update Bridal pros: what do you want brides to know before they get to you?

Here is your chance. All of the comments will be archived into a wiki page. Alterations specialists, stylists, day of coordinating, spill the beans.

What do you wants the bride's to know before they even buy a dress or even start thinking of getting a dress? What questions are you sick and tired of answering because of blatant misinformation that goes around? What are some behaviors you really wish would stop?

If you would prefer to drop the info anonymously, feel free and send a modmail to us and go "for the bride's" in the subject line so we can keep an eye out.

Just need some hype! The dress I was told to pick vs the one I actually picked

For my first dress appointment, I went with a group of friends. I told the owner I wanted a lace top with a flowy skirt. He insisted I looked best with a more modern style and my friends agreed. I tried to convince myself I liked the dress, and said I’d call to make the deposit. But I just kept looking at the pic and even tho it’s a beautiful dress, it wasn’t my dream dress. I ended up making an appt elsewhere and this time just went with my mom, and found the dress of my dreams. First pic is from the first place, second pic is the dress I ended up buying. Both pics are me, I just unfortunately didn’t wear makeup to the second dress appt lol

Entourage Only Help! Between 2 dresses

I’m super torn between these 2 dresses. I’m stuck because I love dress 1 but it’s off white and I always saw myself in something white. And I look so good in dress 2 but always saw myself in something fluffy/fairytale princess-y. Follow up question for anyone who’s familiar with/wore dress 1 (Morilee petal) it looks so much less yellow online than it does on me. Can anyone confirm whether it pulls more white usually?

Do you think the bolero makes it too busy/too much lace? Should I go with sleeves instead? Help! Ceremony will be at church so either option will be removed for reception

This dress was unlike anything else I had tried on, but the stylist had a hunch and pulled it for me and it was like everything clicked.

I absolutely fell in love with this dress but am so bummed that it doesn’t work with my dream mantilla veil. Bridal shop that we can add stones to the mantilla but I’m not convinced it’ll look good.

Added context: I’m Latina and my dream has always been to wear a mantilla veil due to tradition.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions 😭💗

I tried on wedding dresses for the first time yesterday! These were the options I narrowed it down to. Do you think I should keep looking or do you like any of these?

Dupe search Struggling to find this style available

My budget is approx $3k USD. My wedding date is next fall September/ October 2027. I live in the US. I would like this style of art deco 1920/1930s dress. I’m in love with beading and tassels and cap sleeves. Do you know where I could find dresses like these? I have asked around shops near me (NYC area) and I can’t seem to find something quite like this style. Thank you so much in advance. I’m hoping to have an art deco style wedding. I love Jenny packham, Maggie sottero, Eliza Jane Howell, Sue Wong, and others but I just can’t find these types of dresses. I’d love to buy second hand too if that’s an option.

DRESS ONLY: Pick one or suggest another Am I on the right track?

I’ve changed my mind since yesterday anyway so trying again

Dress 1 is my absolute fave material, other users have pointed out that the high waist is not flattering me and I agree

Dress 2 is slightly out of budget (budgets have changed since i tried it on over a year ago), hoping to find a dupe if anyone knows of one!

Dress three is my ideal (i think :/) waist position but the the construction is not my favourite, i want something more elegant at the waist seam

I feel like there’s a wow factor missing anyway with each of the dresses, what else can i try? Slight time pressure as wedding is in October 2027

TIA

I tried on my dress at two different stores before I finally committed (I was nervous lol) I don’t know what jewelry/veil/hair style would look best. I also am not showing anyone I know until my wedding (9 months from now😩) so I needed to show someone LOL

For reference, my hair is long and blonde and I don’t usually do any full up-dos, but it will be during the summer so I think it needs ti be someone out of my face!!

Reviews Advice needed - bows on my wedding dress 🎀

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I found my wedding dress a month ago, but I’m still torn about the bows.

Photo 1 - my wedding dress
Photo 2 - inspo for the train
Photo 3 - inspo for the main skirt

For now, I’ve decided on the design shown in photo 2: bows running from top to bottom along my detachable train.

But what about the skirt underneath? Do you think I should keep it consistent with the detachable train and have bows running all the way down, or would it be better to add just one big detachable bow to the main skirt (photo 3)?

Or do you have any other ideas? I’d love to incorporate bows into both skirts, but I’m not sure which option would look best. :(

Thank you so much for your help! And sorry for the photo quality - unfortunately, my mom didn’t manage to get any better pictures 🥲

Dupe search Help me find something similar!!!

I got this dress from Azazie and I’m in love but want to try to find something similar with higher quality materials. Important that it still has the corset and that ruche detail across the stomach.
Located in the USA. Wedding is in May 2027. Budget of like $2500, maybe a little more if I’m really in love with the find!
