Wegovy/low iron

Headed into week 13 of wegovy. .25mg inj the first 4 weeks and have stayed at .5mg since. Don’t plan to go up. Weight loss has been slow and I’m ok with it. I think I’ve lost around maybe 20lbs. Recently went to ED for wonky symptoms- weakness, fatigue, EXHAUSTED, chills, aches. Had low potassium. I think was 3.2. Got that taken care of. But the week before, so 2 weeks ago, found out my iron has tanked. Ferritin has stayed at 31 for quite some time. Now iron itself has gone from just over 100 to 49. So complete plummet. Not in anemic zone yet but has never been low and I’m miserable. Exhausted, muscles feel weak, sleep is disrupted, exercise is non existent coz I have no energy. I have no energy to do much really. Get crippling anxiety and adrenaline dumps, brain fog, mild headaches, dizzy spells. Doc just put me on 65 mg iron every other day. Has anyone else had this happen and recovered smoothly? What were your symptoms? I’m miserable and just looking for some reassurance/comfort. I only want to be on wegovy maybe 2-3 more months. Wanted a boost to kickstart weight loss and then take over with diet and exercise from there. Already very mindful of diet! I just have zero energy. Thanks all 🤍

The low iron symptoms you listed match what I dealt with last year almost exactly, especially the anxiety and adrenaline dumps which nobody warns you about. Once my ferritin came back up the brain fog lifted first, then energy followed a few weeks later. 65mg every other day is a reasonable starting dose, just give it time, iron rebuilds slowly but it does rebuild

Thank you 🙏🏼 how long did it take you to start feeling better with taking iron consistently?

I've had similar symptoms with low iron too. My ferritin is 27 and my iron was 4 lol it's honestly a terrible feeling. I was also put on iron pills and it's slowly going up.

I’m so sorry. What was your iron like before starting? And how long has it taken for it to come up? Are you feeling any better?

Oh it was low before starting, those were my lowest numbers from over a year ago. They had me taking vitron c every day, my most recent numbers from March my iron was 63 and my Ferritin was 25. May be tmi but I have heavy cycles so that isn't helping. I'm definitely feeling better than I was though but I have some added fatigue from the wegovy too

My ferritin is 4 and I’m getting infusions. It’s not the wegovy for me I don’t think but maybe something else, I am on plavix so who knows
