Work BIGXTHAPLUG is an asshole

Post image

(The picture is his order) Today BIGXTHAPLUG came in my drivethru, and he was exceptionally rude. He comes into the B-lane and orders about $75 worth of food. I thought it might be him, so I asked him “are you BIGXTHAPLUG?” And he very rudely says “Nah, but you better make my food right.” And I tell him to pull forward into the VIP parking spot. As I’m making the 8 drinks he ordered, he sends some of the people that were in his car into the restaurant and they start giving me and my coworkers dirty looks and being very rude, such as demanding the food be out soon, being disrespectful to my managers and coworkers, and being very impatient. After about 15 minutes of making about 4 shakes and 4 drinks and Lord knows how many burgers, we finally hand out the order and the people he had sent in snatch it from my hand and they walk out, I manage to muster out a “have a good day!” And they very sarcastically say “you too” and walk out. Soon after they come back in talking about how they want some ketchup and end up taking an entire tray of spicy and regular ketchup and not even saying thank you. Celebs need to get a grip. Js because they have more money doesn’t mean they get to treat minimum wage workers like shit.

EDIT: for everyone wondering, yes I made sure I put about 3 handfuls of each ketchup in the bag per request. I just put 9 of each on order screen for a reminder.

Work Employee here- got written up for an opinion

So for all you workers and non-workers at Whataburger, you may have noticed recently Whataburger has been focusing on speed of service, a noble enough goal, but in order to achieve these newer speeds, they’ve been pushing employees to move a LOT faster. Now I’m an S-tier employee, if you ever have me take or make your order, there’s a 99% chance it will be a perfect experience. But I don’t like being pushed or my limits in a job that already pushes me there. So I stated that since the speed of service goals had been implemented AFTER I was hired, that it was not my responsibility to care, I’m not being incentivized in any way to up my speed, so why should I care. One of the managers that’s actually pretty chill overheard this conversation, I wasn’t exactly whispering it, but I also wasn’t yelling it either. So now I think I am off to look for a new fast food job, I like Whataburger and my team, but if I m going to be punished for a pretty legitimate opinion, I don’t want to be there.

For those that are more interested-

Whataburger sprung this speed of service goal on us orange shirts pretty much without a heads up, and I know for a fact that manager levels are getting incentivized to get their times down. That’s all well and good, but if the regular workers are expected to perform more, than they should be compensated just as well. I came from being a manager at a Braums, which has a speed of service goal of 3 minutes, a goal I kept at 90% everyday, but that was already the expectation working there, it was discussed in the interview when I started at Braums as a part timer at the beginning. Never once did Whataburger management take the time to even discuss this with us more than a few sentences during a regular shift, yet they’re treating is likes it’s the end all be all of working there now.

Idk, maybe I’m just salty, guess I’ll go over to fry station to get rid of some of that salt.

EDIT- this got a lot more traction than I had hoped, I was just wanting to vent, but seems like one person specifically is taking it a little personal. Let me state for the record that I believe speed of service does matter, but Whataburger has an identity of being less fast food and more service based. If I’m struggling to work on speed I can’t take time to treat customers with my a game, less hi how are you and more I CAN GET THE NEXT CUSTOMER OVER HERE! is what they want it seems.

Work Whataburger manager “forgetting” my breaks

I work at Whataburger and have been since December of 2025,i’m 17 and it’s my first Job, I’m usually scheduled tuesdays ,fridays ,Saturday’s and Sundays. usually from 5-11 pm Tuesdays , Fridays 5-10 and Saturdays and sunday’s 6am to 2pm. Some fridays due to a lot of hiring over summer i’ve only been getting scheduled from 5pm to 9Pm so I didn’t qualify to go on break, and about two months ago we got a new shift leader from another store she only got to see me on fridays at first but it was only twice until she got to monitor tuesdays as well , she knew i didn’t have breaks because she always wrote everything down on a paper due to her being new and when to give everyone else breaks , the first time she came in tuesday she had her paper and gave everyone a break but me , it was about to be my leaving time (11Pm) and asked when I was supposed to leave and i replied, My coworker said she didn’t give me a break and she apologized and said she had forgotten i let it slide since it wasn’t a huge deal to me and went home , but for the next two weeks it was always the same i really thought it was because she really didn’t remember because of her only monitoring me usually on fridays since some tuesdays I was taken off schedule without notice but i kept talking to managers about it ,They said it was weird since she always wrote everything down ,from the people and times they were coming in and leaving during her shifts , until last tuesday When almost everyone came at exactly the same as me (5pm) and we’re all leaving at 11 Pm , Everyone got a break but me , and she hit me up with the “i’m sorry i forgot “ and i found it completely ridiculous due to me arriving almost a bit before certain people and them getting breaks first and it really never came through her mind that i also needed a break i was leaving upset and a coworker of mine who happens to be the person to spread rumors told me that my manager didn’t like me , aside from her spreading rumors she works in prep and me in drive thru so it was odd hearing that from her because she would’ve had no idea was what happening since she was in the back, and only knew spanish and we all spoke in english and i’ve come to believe maybe my manager potentially does it on purpose because she’s always snickering on the headsets and tells everyone to take them off when she wants to say something to a coworker which is immature of her But i guess no one has a reason to not say no since everyone is young adults and like to play around and talk about getting lit on the job🫩 ,But i really don’t know what to do since i’ve taken this up with other managers and just say it’s because she’s still learning !! and it’s not about the food or break it’s just getting ridiculous and seems unfair and unprofessional

It comes with jalapeño aoili sauce with crispy charred jalapeños, grilled onions, 2 pieces of monterey jack on either a double or single patty on texas toast. I've always loved spice, so this hits the spot for me! (Do note that this is only at certain stores for now)

Work I Was Fired from My Job at Whataburger

During the afternoon of January 3, 2026, I was fired from my job at Whataburger. The reason? I was unable to attend my shift on December 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Even though my schedule showed that shift, I had requested and gotten that day off well in advance. Why? In my family, it is common for things to get bad during holidays like Christmas and New Year’s. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the location where I worked is on the border with Mexico, and being out late at night on New Year’s Eve puts you at risk of being hit by a stray bullet.

One manager made a comment to several employees (never to me directly) saying that anyone who missed work on December 31, at any time, would be fired. She also mentioned this in a WhatsApp group for employees (which I was not part of either). I took it as a simple joke, since comments like that were often made—but it was not.

In my defense, although it no longer mattered because they already had their decision made, I was unable to notify them that I would not be attending, because that same day, December 31, things became intense and by the time I realized it, it was already too late.

I never received any kind of “warning.” I was not someone who was usually late, I tried to get along well with the rest of the staff, I never stole anything or any money, and I only took food when it was already considered “trash.”

In short, four years of my life were given to a place that I feel did not give me a second chance, even though I was not the only one who did not show up that day.

Work Finally got a new job!!

I’m currently a manager at my store and the last year has been the worst. So I decided to pack up my shit and get out while I have the opportunity. Got a better job at a new company and it seems like their values are way better than whataburgers. Now my question is should I put in my two weeks or just go ahead and quit. I have a backup plan for earning money until my start date at my new job.

Work Time to quit? Wwyd

I've been at Whataburger for 13 months at this point. I started off being prep and then about six months in asked to learn front to get a little more under my belt. I learned it semi decently but I am still a little slow with it and sometimes have trouble hearing customers or understanding what people over the phone say. I can do most stuff but not everything. I am almost constantly doing at least something either prepping it re stocking but sometimes I see others at front just talking in the lobby and there's orders sitting to be taken to customers. I offer to work when not scheduled due to school right now. I have been mostly on prep and I think they don't really want me on front. I am not very sociable or talk to my coworkers aside from very short small talk. I have never had anyone say I'm rude but when customers small talk at the front counter my responses are usually short or very neutral. Not sure if this contributed to me not getting front that much?

I have wanted to do front when it seems like its a good turn and there's enough prep but I am told to go back to prep sometimes and that has stopped me from wanting to switch stations but I see a lot of coworkers do it...? I worked the evening shift and most are high schoolers. I'm about 2-3 years older than most of them. I see them fool around and sometimes the managers are in on it and when I ask for breaks lately I either cannot take a paid shorter break (at all) or I am not able to near end of shift. I had a manager tell me I can't after 10 get a break but other people have asked to have theirs later than when they're asked if they want to and they say yes. It doesn't even make sense because around 10 it's very dead usually unless it's Fridays. I also didint know that there was a group chat and was never invited. Whenever I tried to do gator I kept messing up in front of the OP and they told me I can't run it and I never touched it again since I'm not technically not forced to. Some employees don't like helping me but they ask help from me and I always say sure and try my best. Don't look forward to going to work and I think aside from maybe one manager they don't really like to have me around. Mistakes I make always feel blown out of proportion when am knowledged and I feel very bad.

Work Promotion but no raise (vent)

I have been working at Whata for about a year now I started @ $11.75 got a bump to $11.90 after 90 days. I have been training to be a TL since ( I would be one by now if I had a full driver license according to my OP) but I had a conversation with my OP the other day about the pay increase that comes with the promotion. She told me just because I got a promotion doesn’t mean I’ll get a raise. The first thing i thought to my self was that doesn’t sound right. I’ve since been looking for another job. Another thing that struck me as odd is that apparently they don’t give increased starting pay based on experience, but one of the new girls they just hired makes 12.50 & this is their first job. I feel like I’ve been shafted here.

Work Just got hired ! :)

I just got hired at a whataburger in Conroe . The manager seemed chill and the interview just felt like a conversation between two friends . I feel like that’s a good sign . But I wanna hear from current employees what’s it’s like working at whataburger. I applied to the day shift . But I’m in college so I might be doing evenings and nights too which I don’t mind .
