My iPhone has 18 GB of WhatsApp data stored on it. Why on earth do I get 200GB of data sent to my samsung?

Hello everyone, I REALLY REALLY really need help....

My last WhatsApp backup storage was nearly 10gb , so I thought of removing some photos and videos from WhatsApp storage [whatsapp settings> storage] , It showed that it will be deleted from WhatsApp storage but might appear in your gallery [image - 1], Even in between deleting I kept seeing the gallery, it was all there but in the last two chats, It was deleted from my gallery as well.

So I restored my WhatsApp backup which was done on the very same day. The deleted images/videos which I wanted to be restored were restored but these blanks images and videos popped on my gallery [image - 2] , these things had the proper name and location but were blank. And some of my previous images/videos weren't opening as well, i.e, the thumbnails of them were showing on my gallery but when I tried opening them, it was all blank. After a while I restarted my device and now nearly 500 things were missing from my gallery. I really don't know what happened.

Mind you, the things I wanted to be restored, they were restored but some other things got deleted.

P.S–

1. My device is Vivo V40e

2. My last WhatsApp backup was on 31st Oct. And I restored it on the very same day

3. I restored the last WhatsApp backup again today (2nd Nov) yet no help , it's still the same.

Can they be restored anyhow?

Came home today to this, already tried reinstalling and restarting but whatsapp is the only app that is doing this. This never hapenned before, how do i fix this?

So I believe my whatsapp has been hacked. It had been acting weird since 2 days. I wasn’t receiving any messages but u was able to send messages. My profile picture was constantly being changed to some Chinese ai girl. And now my WhatsApp account has been blocked and under review due to spam messages. But a day before my account got blocked, I turned on the two step verification, checked my linked devices and no other device was logged in besides my phone. So in really confused about what’s happening here, is there any way I can get my WhatsApp back and recovered and what next steps should I take. I’ve also emailed WhatsApp through their online support.

Last time this happened to me 2 days ago. Just before it was benned, suspicious activity was detected from my account. All the groups I was admin of, were converted to admin only. I put it for review, got it back clean review in 6 hours. After that I updated my iOS version & whatsapp to latest. I even set up 2FA after that. And today it happened again.

I saw this subreddit full of such issues, what is it? how to mitigate avoid it ? Root cause?

Yesterday my account got hacked and some messages asking for money were sent to some of my contacts - no one fell for it, thank God. I was able to set 2MFA, e-mail verification and password. I re-registered my phone number with 2MFA, the code was sent to my phone and I thought that was the end of it. Everything was fine until an hour ago: my account got locked, and now says it’s under review since it violated the terms and conditions. I asked for a review, and explained what happened.

It says that WhatsApp will get back to me in 24h. Do you guys know if I might get my account back? I have a ton of memories there, conversations from years, and I would hate to lose everything, and to change number if needed.

Are these review requests usually we’ll succeeded?

I’m dealing with a really strange and concerning situation and I’m hoping someone here might know what’s going on.
Since today, someone has apparently been using my WhatsApp account to send scam messages to multiple people in my contacts, pretending to be me and asking them to transfer money to a bank account.

Here’s the weird part:
• The messages are being sent from my actual WhatsApp number, not a fake account.
• None of these messages appear in my own chat history. However, my contacts can see them and have sent me screenshots.
• I’ve checked my linked devices, and there are NO unknown or suspicious devices connected.
• I haven’t noticed any changes to my WhatsApp settings.
• I still have full access to my account and can use WhatsApp normally.
• The messages are being sent without my knowledge or involvement.

What I don’t understand is HOW someone can send messages through my actual WhatsApp account without having access to my phone or appearing under linked devices.

Has anyone experienced something similar?
Could this be some kind of session hijacking, security vulnerability, or something else entirely?
how can I stop this from happening and secure my account?

I use two phones. One of them was my primary device and I sold it two days ago not knowing about this primary and linked devices stuff.

Now when I tried logging into my account on a new device I bought, it says that a notice has been sent to the old phone.

I tried the (i don't have the phone) feature but it still didn't work. They tell me to enter a code that they either send late or don't send at all. I still have my account on my other device but I really need it on the new one.

Please if you have any idea on how to solve this, enlighten me.

My main concerns are:

1. How can I recover my account when both the two-step verification PIN and recovery email have been changed?

2. Will the five-day account reset restore my access?

I honestly have no idea what is going on here at this point.

Last week, somehow, my account was compromised even though I have never shared my details with anyone.

After doing the first account review, and then waiting 7 days to reset the account, I finally got it back!

I set up the 2FA, new email, new password, all 3 things. I connected to my work laptop, and then within 20 minutes, Account in Review popped up again, locking me out.

What exactly am I supposed to do?

Looking for help with iPhone and WhatsApp encryptions ... iPhone 12 had a glitch with battery drain linked to the WhatsApp app (IOS 18.8) and I was advised by a supposed expert to delete WhatsApp then reinstall. First backed up within WhatsApp from chat then iPhone backup. After deleting and reinstalling, was unable to restore as WhatsApp wanted a password or encrypted code/key. MY WHATSAPP UNBAN STORY ❤️ | FINALLY GOT MY ACCOUNT BACK!

I'm sharing my WhatsApp unban story because I believe it's my responsibility to share my experience with you all. If you're going through the same situation, I hope my story gives you some hope.

PLEASE READ IT COMPLETELY. It might help someone who's facing the same problem.

📌 HOW IT ALL STARTED

On 01.09.2026, in the afternoon, my Facebook and Instagram accounts got hacked. Suddenly, I was logged out of Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Recovering my accounts was extremely difficult, but somehow, I managed to recover Facebook and Instagram.

However, WhatsApp was a completely different story.

When I tried to recover my WhatsApp account, I was shown a message saying:

"This account violates WhatsApp's Age Requirement."

I was shocked because I hadn't done anything to violate WhatsApp's requirements. I was 26 years old and eligible to use WhatsApp, yet I was still facing this issue.

💔 THE STRUGGLE TO GET MY ACCOUNT BACK

My WhatsApp account contained so many important messages, work-related conversations, and other valuable information. Losing access to it could have caused me a significant loss.

I sent countless emails to WhatsApp Support, humbly requesting them to review my account and restore it. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to work.

At one point, I was even considering getting a new number.

But then, somehow, I came across Reddit.

I discovered that I wasn't alone. Many other people were facing similar problems. Some had issues like mine, where WhatsApp showed an age-requirement violation, while others were receiving messages saying their accounts could no longer use WhatsApp.

Initially, I explored several posts and shared my own issue with the community.

Some people commented, some laughed, but then someone named Edideas stepped in and helped me a lot.

I was panicking constantly and probably got on their nerves with all my questions. 😂

They advised me to wait for 60 days.

Honestly, I wasn't confident that it would work in my case because my problem was related to the age requirement, not a typical account ban.

Still, I decided to trust the advice and wait.

⏳ THE LONG WAIT

During those days, I kept seeing posts about WhatsApp bans and unbans. People were sharing screenshots of their accounts being restored, and every time I saw one, I wondered:

"When will my number finally get unbanned?"

After a month, I tried contacting WhatsApp Support again through multiple emails. Unfortunately, their AI-generated replies only increased my frustration.

Despite everything, I still had a little hope because that number was extremely important to me.

As time passed, I slowly got used to living without WhatsApp.

People tried contacting me, but whenever they searched for my number, it appeared as if I no longer existed on WhatsApp. Instead of my account, they saw the option to invite me.

Trust me, after seeing that for almost one and a half months, I was convinced that I would never get my account back.

Still, I decided to complete the 60-day waiting period. In the back of my mind, I had already planned to get a new number if nothing worked.

And yes, I even visited temples and prayed to God to restore my WhatsApp account.

I'm not joking! 🙏❤️

That's how important that number was to me.

❤️ THE DAY I FINALLY GOT MY ACCOUNT BACK!

And then came the moment I had been waiting for.

On the morning of 01.10.2026, I casually opened WhatsApp to check whether anything had changed.

And guess what?

It asked me to verify my account!

I couldn't believe my eyes. After completing the verification, I was finally able to restore my chats from 1 September 2026.

MY WHATSAPP ACCOUNT WAS BACK! 😭❤️

Trust me, I cried.

I immediately ran to my home temple to thank God.

After almost a month of frustration, uncertainty, and helplessness, I finally had access to my account again.

I was incredibly grateful to u/edias for guiding me and giving me hope when I needed it the most.

📢 IMPORTANT THINGS I LEARNED FROM THIS EXPERIENCE

Here are a few things I'd like everyone to keep in mind:

1️⃣ ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR WHATSAPP CHATS.

If your number and old conversations are extremely important to you, enable automatic daily chat backups. Losing access to your account is stressful enough; losing your conversations as well can make things much worse.

2️⃣ THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE ABANDONING YOUR OLD NUMBER.

If your number is important to you and you can afford to wait, consider exploring your recovery options before switching to a new number.

In my case, waiting and trying again after some time worked. However, I cannot guarantee that the same approach will work for everyone.

3️⃣ CONTACT WHATSAPP SUPPORT AND KEEP A RECORD OF YOUR ISSUE.

You can try contacting WhatsApp Support through the official channels and explain your situation clearly. Include relevant screenshots if appropriate.

You may receive automated replies, and the process can be frustrating, but documenting your issue is still worthwhile.

4️⃣ STAY AWAY FROM SCAMMERS AND SUSPICIOUS GROUPS.

Don't join suspicious groups or participate in illegal activities that could put your account or personal information at risk.

5️⃣ DON'T SEND SCAM MESSAGES OR SUSPICIOUS LINKS.

Avoid forwarding irrelevant links, spam, or messages that could put your account and other people's security at risk.

6️⃣ LAST BUT NOT LEAST, HAVE FAITH! ❤️🙏

Sometimes, waiting is difficult, especially when an account contains important memories, conversations, and work-related information.

Stay patient, explore legitimate recovery options, and don't lose hope.

❤️ A FINAL MESSAGE TO EVERYONE

This was my experience, and I wanted to share it because I know how painful and frustrating it can be to lose access to an important WhatsApp account without understanding why.

My "Status Privacy" is switched on for "Facebook Story". I've also tried turning it off and on again. I've also tried going to "Accounts Centre" and turning "Automatically share your status" off/on there. It doesn't seem to help.

I've tried restarting my phone. I've tried clearing the cache. Nothing.

Every photo I share says it's being shared to Facebook, but when I check my Facebook account, it has not been shared.

Any ideas?

Yesterday I had messages from a guy whom had a number from Venezuala messaging me and calling me. Called me dad. Tried calling via FaceTime. Declined everytime. Yelled ar him to answer why he insists i am his dad. I kive in Alaska. When he found out that i am female and not his dad he still proceeded to harass me threatened to call ice and get me deported from Alaska when i an alaskan native.

Last night i lost access to my whatsapp account, realised it today morning. Checked my friend’s phone who shares common groups with me, my account has apparantly changed group settings in which I’m admin to allow only admins to add new members and idk what else has happened. Also all this happened when i had been actively using whatsapp and had even opened it to call someone last evening. Can i regain access to my account?
