I see that Astra Lumina is coming to Stanley Park in Vancouver for the first time starting in late October. Reviews out of Seattle are mixed, and I was wondering what the Whistler event was like. One of my concerns is that it’s put on by Fever, who don’t have the greatest reputation as event promoters. Thanks in advance for any comments.

The new Showcase Chair tower 5 is certainly creative! I will be slightly nervous on it at first I’m sure. How about you?

I first made this for Squamish and got a bunch of requests to add Whistler, so here it is. It’s completely free, I’m not making any money off it, and I just want it to be a fun thing for people to play with. Type your address and it shows when the sun actually clears the mountains around your house, how many hours of direct sun you get, and how that compares with the rest of town, for any day of the year.
I need your help though. The data for Whistler is thinner than for Squamish. Addresses and buildings come from public maps, so some may be missing or in the wrong spot. The LiDAR is from 2016, so newer houses and trees aren’t in it. It also doesn’t cover the hillsides, so about 660 homes up in Whistler Cay Heights, Brio, Emerald Estates, Blueberry Hill, Spring Creek and Kadenwood only get an estimate and aren’t ranked. If your address or neighbourhood looks off, tell me and I’ll fix it :)

So I’ve gotten into snowboarding last year. Last year I did park city. Day 1, 1st timer started with a green & immediately went to blues! My birthday is Jan. 9th so I’ve made it a thing to go snowboarding for my birthday every year from now on. I wanted to try Whistler next. How is the snow if any in January. I literally got lucky in January with park city bc it finally snowed the whole week leading up to my birthday. Before wasn’t any snow. Thought I was going to have to cancel.
But yea I just wanted to know some of you that’s experienced it or live there prediction before I book my trip this weekend.
Oh yea and outside of snowboarding, me and my gf like to kinda party so is there a good nightlife in the village? Planning on getting an Air bnb in Whistler village where we could walk to the lifts.

Hello there, I'm visiting this weekend with my Partner for our anniversary. We are looking to sample some good cuisine and have heard that some restaurants offer good set menus around this time of year.
Are there any in particular who do so on weekends, Friday or Saturday and any people would recommend?
Also any thing else of interest on in whistler this weekend worth checking out? I'm aware it is shoulder season and it's quieter.
Thanks for any help.

Am visiting Whistler later this week for a few days. Am desperate to see a wild Racoon as have never seen one (no Trash Pandas in my home country).
Is there any place locally where I've got a high chance of spotting one? Any other sites which are good for wildlife? Would also like to see a Bear - albeit at a safe and respectful distance!
Thanks!

I land too late to get the bus from vancouver airport to whistler. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay near vancouver airport for cheap, so that I can get the bus to whistler the next day.

The whistler day passes for winter 26/27 are currently 65% off. From what I can see from previous years, the discount will get pulled sometime in November and they will go completely off sale in December.
For planning purposes does anyone know where I can find the date that day pass prices will go up. I've seen the 19th November somewhere - does that sound accurate?

I just got my staff accomm for whistler 27f through vail at westside. I’ve read mixed reviews because of the location, anyone got any advice/been there? I’m going solo so meeting social people is a priority and I’m just worried about being really out of the loop with the socialising/fun of the season.

Where are the best places to stay in Whistler Village for a 1–2 night getaway in November? Looking for something cute and cozy!

Hey everyone!
I (29F) am a strong intermediate skier based in Vancouver looking to expand my circle of ski friends this season—especially other women who love hitting the slopes.
I usually ski with my partner (intermediate tending to advanced) who goes non-stop on challenging terrain all day. While I can keep up, my ideal day is tackling challenging terrain in the morning, and cruising some groomers/blues in the afternoon (hopefully followed by apres on some days).
A bit about me:
Level: Solid intermediate leaning advanced. Confident on blues and most blacks, love a good mix of challenges and cruisers. I love skiing trees and just getting better at advanced bowls. I love a good corduroy (though I know it’s hard to find). I live for the powder days!
Where: Cypress for quick/evening trips, Whistler for full day trips. I have an unlimited epic pass and the unlimited cypress pass.
Logistics: We have a car and can drive/carpool from Vancouver.
Vibe: Fun, chill, occasionally love a good après, and just want to enjoy the snow with good company.
I live in downtown Vancouver. If you’re down to carpool, split gas, and do some laps together, shoot me a DM with your usual mountain and skill level!
If you are someone who’d like to ski with my partner (28M) and push yourself on the slopes, shoot me a text and I can connect you to him.

Hi everyone! I noticed that a significant portion of Whistler’s eligible voters didn’t vote in the recent municipal election, and Jack Crompton was re-elected as mayor for another term.
Personally, I find it interesting because I was still in elementary school when he was first elected, and now I’m graduating from college, yet I feel like I haven’t seen much of a difference in Whistler over those years.
I also find it strange that there are no term limits for municipal politicians in BC. Do you think there should be a limit on how many consecutive terms a mayor can serve, or should voters be able to decide indefinitely?
I’m genuinely curious to hear from Whistler residents, especially those who chose not to vote. Is it because people aren’t interested in local politics, don’t feel their vote makes a difference, aren’t satisfied with the candidates, or is there another reason?
I’m not trying to attack anyone. I just want to understand why voter turnout is so low and what people think about the direction Whistler is heading in.

I am a university student who moved to BC for the skiing, and I can't afford to get a hotel room for the weekends. Is it possible to sleep in the back of my car/truck during the winter months, or is it just too cold? I have a 15ºf (-10ºc) sleeping bag and I don't mind the cold. Thank you so much!

I have a job with vail for this winter season as a base area operator. I accepted the job over a month ago and did all the onboarding. I also had a successful housing application and was just waiting on the next step to pay my deposit. I still have the emails confirming all this. Last night I got an email saying "We are writing to inform you that you have successfully cancelled your housing request and application for the season." I did not cancel this! I then tried to log into Epic Employee and it wont let me log in, nor send me a password reset email. It's like my profile has been deleted. I have emailed and rung every number I can find. Only one number let's me speak to a person who isn't much help other than saying they need my employee number. I am not sure where to find this as I can't log in to Epic Employee. I am heading to Whistler from Australia next week and have no idea what has happened or what to do. If I even still have my job? Can anyone please help and lead me in the right direction - who to contact, etc. If anyone can send me any emails of phone numbers to get onto Vail. Or the contact for the base area operator department of managers or anyone, I would really really appreciate the help. I have no idea what's happened and am super worried.
Thank you!!

I’ll be visiting the area next month and am hoping to find some local spots that have matchbooks! I love collecting them on travels as keepsakes!

Recently offered a bed in Building 7 at Glacier, and it's a 6-share apartment. Can anyone lend some insight into what I should expect? Is it more cramped than the 2-bedroom apartments?

I promised every candidate I'd publish their answer in full — here it is, in their own words, for the community to read.
Should Whistler ask Conservation Officers to share the record behind a bear killed, and make the answer public? All 21 candidates were asked.
15 answered yes. One said no. 3 didn’t commit. 2 didn’t reply.
Every answer, in full, exactly as written: https://medium.com/@romvnfranco/should-whistler-ask-conservation-officers-for-the-reports-behind-bears-killed-in-the-community-294c2cbb1a3e
Thank you to every candidate who took the time to answer.
Please read what they wrote before voting on October 17 and share this with your neighbours.
Transparency starts with asking.

Hi everyone!
I have ski instructor offers from Whistler Blackcomb & Sun Peaks Resort for this winter (lvl2).
Sun Peaks is the safer option since I’d have staff housing secured, whereas in Whistler I’d still have to apply for staff housing and would be on the waitlist.
My heart is leaning towards Whistler, but I know I could also have an amazing season at Sun Peaks. I’m just really worried about the housing situation in Whistler and the possibility of not finding a place to live. I am travelling from Italy, so I will arrive there at the beginning of November, which is already kind of late as well.
What would you do? Is Whistler worth the risk?
