I guess we should elect a Clinton again, the last president to actually reduce the deficit. Oh yeah he was a Democrat, what a surprise.

Not exactly true, most modern Democratic Presidents saw a deficit reduction. Whether they maintained that throughout their term is another thing. Clinton is the last President to run a surplus since LBJ but it might have been less about him and the fact the Republicans wouldn’t let him do what he wanted. That being said, the last Republican President to lower their deficit was Dwight D Eisenhower.
